I often find that a summary is not enough for me to start a story, so here's a bit more information about Far Behind.
I don't think this will be a surprise but this is a xianxia/xuanhuan (not too sure about the categorization, probably more likely xuanhuan) story, inspired by chinese webnovels, which you can find on the noveltranslations subreddit. I Shall Seal the Heavens, Xian Ni (Renegade Immortal), Stellar Transformations and Coiling Dragon are the ones with the most influence on my writing.
I planned taking my favorite parts of each and combining them with my own ideas, but as I've said before, this is only my first story and though I try to write it with the best of my ability, it doesn't mean I'll succeed according to my intentions.
The story starts out slowly, mainly due to the main character being only 6 years old and the first arc is about his childhood. There won't be much action (fighting) until about the 18th chapter, as Quin is only a child. Although I've read quite a few novels in which the protagonists easily fights off legendary beasts, dragons, titans, etc, even when they’re only 10 years old, for me it's usually too much of a jump from reality. For me that part of the life is about learning (boring school life), making mistakes, taking the first steps on their road in life and not about getting insane power-ups right away.

Though I could jump straight to Quin's adulthood, to the “interesting” part, which is full of action and fights, I really liked IET's way of handling the start of the novels, where we follow the main character's life from their childhood. We get to see the events which led to their actions or which defined their personalities and not just read a few lines regarding them.
My main focus while writing is on the protagonist's character development: I try to write one, who won't have a non-flexible personality/way of thinking. I see it too often when main characters who just don't change even in the face of the so-called life changing events. What I'm trying to achieve is a main character whose personality grows after each important event. There will be times when he will look stupid, pathetic or even a douchebag, but that doesn't mean that will be permanent.
I aim to write 1,5k words per chapters. Though sometimes it's a bit shorter, most of the times I end up writing more.
Lastly, there probably won’t be any PoV changes at all as the story will be from Quin's (or the narrator's) point of view during the whole time.
If you’ve got any questions about the story (this is a no-spoiler thread) feel free to ask.
