Damien had woken up this morning like any other. He has got out of bed, walked into his bathroom looking at his brown unshaved face, and ran his hand over his short unkempt hair in the waterstained mirror. He brushed his teeth and rinsed it out with mouthwash. Damien was an inch shorter than six feet tall, he was in his early thirties, but with another annoying grey hair sprouting out of his hair again, Damien sighed. The stresses from the past had a way of creeping into the present sometimes. In this case, it came in the form of grey hair and the beginnings of worry lines on his forehead.
"Damn, that stressful programming job." Damien thought to himself.
He was on a deadline at work that he didn't meet yet and his boss was constantly on him to perform. He had been working home due to a highly contiguous flu like virus. The people had been confined to their homes for months. This annoyed Damien to no end. His years in military service didn't help with the stress but, his body was in much more pristine condition at his ripe age of 30. That didn't stop Damien from being in the early stages of' dad bod'. Damien chuckled at the thought. He had gone into the Army at 26 years and things were going well until a freak accident with his left leg being crushed by a few hundred pounds tub box full of metal wiring materials, had cut his new military career short. Yet, that may have been a gift from God because his unit was deployed a month later to combat zone at the time. He lost quite a few friends during that time. Even now, it was hard to think about because he wanted to be there with and for his friends and unit despite the loss. He didn't make many friends afterward and mostly was a loner outside of his daughter.
Here he was in his kitchen, awake aching from that old injury that seemed to make sure he couldn't sleep for a full night in years. It was currently 4 A.M., and Damien turned on his coffee maker highly caffeinated himself so that he could feel like he had actually gotten some sleep the night before. Damien walked to his 6 year old daughter's Tasha room walked over to her sleep form and bent down to kiss her on the forehead. His daughter was his most precious possession in the whole universe to him and he made sure to let her know that every day. He joined the army shortly after her birth to make sure her daughter could see her dad doing something she could be proud of. He mostly had to raise her the first couple of years via video chat Voogle Hangouts app which he used to speak to her daily. Watching your daughter's first steps and first words on a video were some of the worst moments of his life. It brought him to tears sometimes, at the time, but he tried to soldier on despite missing her dearly. Tasha and Damien's mom were not together, but the two worked out a parenting plan that made sure she was able to see both parents frequently. Despite their relationship differences, the two parents did not let that interfere with their child's happiness and were cordial to each other in her presence.
Damien walked out of his daughters room and into his office that doubled as his gaming room to log onto VRMMORPG EverTale, his second love. Damien loved having control of some part of his life and EverTale was that control. He was a powerful level 50 Elemental Archmage. In the kingdom builder, EverTale he had created a kingdom with his own hands, able to raise giant 100 foot tree, streams, raise walls, call storms of lightning and fire among many other powers of the top archmage in the whole game. A title that he was very proud of. This morning he had received a PM on his gaming PC from his online friend Gillion, who is pretty much his only friend that he's ever had any consistent contact within years. Damien was not too good with people in face to face interaction and relationships he was just plain terrible, hence him being single due to not giving any relationship what they normally need, consistency. Damien turned his focused on his second love in life and not on his horrible personal life. He had a city to run and to make sure it thrived. He didn't have control of many things in his life, but he loved that Evertale gave him control over everything. He loved to play as a magical character in RPGs and throw spells around and fearlessly and saving people from seemingly unstoppable monsters and armies. Gullion's character, who is secretly really the Great God Klepto, online handles name was Guillotine a level 49 Grand Holy Paladin in EverTale and was Damiens righthand man. Of course, Damien didn't know this. Damien felt a bond to Guillion even though they had never met in person but they were friends none the less. Guillion wasn't online the night before which was strange to Damien because the man didn't miss a day in years. Damien hoped he was okay.

Klepto, on the other hand, had different thoughts. The God was beyond excited to begin his new project. He hurriedly messaged Damien the moment he saw him log on. He was finished with the planet hours ago and had to force Damien's leg to ache in order to rouse the man awake.
Guillotine: "Hey! Bro! What's up? You ready to log on. I'm ready for this started already!!"
DevilStorm: "Definitely, but um... get what started, Man.
Guillotine: "Oh! um..I was talking about that kingdom I wanted you to get started for me! Yeah, you know we just conquered a part of the dark elven kingdom and we need to begin to establish a foothold on our new border before their army can respond, and set up the fort. I'm just ready to get revenge on them for wiping out the last kingdom of the light elves. They had just begun bridging the gaps between the elves and the humans and then the dark elven kingdom struck while their backs were turned. We must prevent the total annihilation of the light elven race at all costs. We cannot lose their ability or the world won't stand a chance. If they're not held in check they will begin to target the human kingdom and our kingdom when that happens. Then its game over."
DevilStorm: Sure, but you know that's not going to be that easy seeing as how our kingdom is the most heavily fortified and protected. Whey would lose a great percentage of their forces throwing bodies at our walls. Our western kingdom is just about impregnable.
Guillotine: "Good Gods man, just log in already!!"
DevilStorm: "Hahaha, there's only one God bro. Just cool it I had to check on my kid. I'm logging on now" Guillotine: "Hehehehe, If you only knew." Damien: "Wait wha-" Damien was already in the process pressing the 'Login' button as he asked the question to himself out loud but, something was off. A blinding bright light hit him from his roof and he felt a weird shock that began from his finger and spread throughout his whole body while increasing in intensity and also pain. Damien screamed at the top of his lungs. "What th-, AHHHHH!!! Then everything went suddenly dark."
