A teacher was teaching history in a dusty, poster-filled classroom. Half the students were trying to stay awake. The other half were so bored they wanted to be anywhere but here. The teacher discussed World War II for the 50th time this year and this was not even going to be on the next test. A gray-haired boy with red eyes sat at the back of the class. He was on his phone, smiling and not paying attention at all.
Next to him was a girl with hair and blue eyes. She looked over at what he was doing with a small smile on her face. She was trying to look at the screen to see what he was doing. He seemed to be reading another fantasy book as he always did. She moved her seat closer and started to read with him, her usual cold eyes glinting with excitement.
The teacher heard a giggle and some laughter. Most of his students were half asleep, trying to stay awake. He sighed; he had to deal with this most of the time. Then he saw the two troublemaker students he had to deal with daily. He cleared his throat and brought attention to all his students and said.
"Ash and Allie, I wish you two would listen to my class rather than fool around in class all day. History is a crucial subject. I do not care if you get perfect grades in my class, you still need to pay attention and learn while we are still in school." He looked at the two troublemakers and sighed. He had to deal with this every day. But, he could do nothing about it. They had perfect grades and connections. Ash the boy with gray hair and red eyes smiled without a care in the world and continued to read books on his phone. Allie the girl with white hair and blue eyes just glared at the teacher with a cold glare. She looked like she wanted to gut him for interrupting them reading.
He sighed at both of them, ignoring him. There was nothing he could do. Last time he went to the principal, she denied his request to punish them. He wished he could take them down a peg. He went back to the blackboard to teach the rest of the class.
Ash read his book on his phone. Allie sat next to him, smiling with a goofy, cute grin. "Can you believe Mr. White? He thinks history is important. We could be going on an adventure like one of my books rather than being in this boring classroom. What do you say Allie wants to skip school again and go on an adventure!" Ash said as he looked at her with hopeful eyes and an excited smile on his face.
She looked at his hopeful eyes and cute smile and sighed. She worried about his constant skipping school for adventures. But, with that cute look he gives her, how could she say no? “Ash as always I would love to go with you but sometimes I wonder how you would survive without me. But sure we can skip class again after all, not like anyone here is important.” Allie said as she giggled at all the angry expressions in the class.
The class looked at the two of them with anger and some were filled with jealousy. They've been together since childhood. They only care about themselves and see everyone else as unimportant. Allie was cold to everyone at school except Ash. This made the guys jealous since they wanted her attention. Ash was always happy and goofy. But, anyone who tried to confront him would be beaten up. His personality would switch from happy to devilish. Ash and Allie are total opposites. But, they get along great. They always seemed in their own world. It was infuriating to see that every day.
The bell rang. Everyone sighed in relief. The torture was over. They could finally go eat lunch and escape the hell of History class. Ash jumped out of his seat and grabbed Allie’s hand.” So what do you want to eat today, Allie?" I know you always bring lunch. But, we could buy cookies with our lunch. Or, after we skip the rest of school, we could get ice cream since the ice cream truck should be right outside. It's Friday," Ash said, and he bounced around talking about sweets.
Allie looked at Ash and sighed. She wore a parent's disappointed look at a bad child. “Ash, you have to eat healthy, don't always just eat sweets. Do you remember when we had to go to the dentist and you had 5 cavities? Now let’s go to lunch and have a balanced diet and maybe if you are good you can have ice cream.” Allie said as she saw Ash pout at the thought of not having ice cream as they held hands on their way to lunch.
Ash sighed at the thought of no sweets today. So, he had to use his last weapon.” Come on Allie, can we just have some sweets? I am sure that they won’t make me sick. We can share a large cup of ice cream and I can feed it to you. Does that not sound fun and romantic?” Ash had a sweet look in his eyes. But, he wore a smug smile. He watched as Allie's cold expression cracked at the thought of him feeding her some ice cream.
Allie gave in as she walked to the lunchroom. Everyone was watching them, some with jealousy and others indifferent. "Fine, but you have to eat some vegetables later to balance your diet and also to make sure to brush your teeth. We are not having another tooth problem again. Now make sure to get a vanilla ice cream cup with fudge and caramel, okay?” Allie said as she watched Ash smile and skip towards the front gate of the school to get ice cream. She took out the lunches that she had made last night. Some fried chicken cutlets with some fried rice and broccoli.
As she set up their lunch, everyone could smell her cooking. They were jealous that Ash got it every day. As she finished setting up their lunches, she saw Ash return to the table with the ice cream, cookies, and candy. "Ash, what the hell is all this? You were only supposed to get ice cream. Why do you have so much junk as well!” Allie, with a cold expression, saw Ash drop two bags of gummy worms and two chocolate chip cookies. He had a goofy expression as he stuffed his face with candy and cookies.

Ash looked at Allie like she had just said the most horrible thing he had ever heard.” Allie, how could you? I need these sweets to survive. So I always have to bring snacks in my bookbag in case.” Ash stopped munching on his sweets. He focused on the lunch Allie made. She rolled her eyes at his comment about the sweets. "Wow, this lunch tastes amazing; you really outdid yourself this time. You are going to be an amazing wife in the future if you cook this type of food every day." Ash said as Allie blushed when she saw Ash stuffing his face with the lunch she made.
Allie sighed as she had a hard time staying mad at Ash. He was just so cute all the time and could just make puppy eyes on her to get away with anything. She blushed at the thought of being married to Ash and always being with him. She shook her head and snapped out of it as if she was not going to let him get away with this.” You are still going to eat some vegetables later. You have to have a balanced diet or you may get sick.” Allie said as she saw him pout with a cute expression at her with food on his face. Her cold stern expression faltered and she wiped the food off his face with a piece of paper towel.
They ate lunch, discussing recent anime and books they wanted to read. They wanted to rewatch Harry Potter again since it was one of their favorite series. Their classmates stared, angry. The two were having fun. The classmates always found them unreachable and full of themselves. The girls were jealous of Allie and the boys were jealous of Ash. They were always so perfect with each other and had an enviable relationship. As the students talked and pointed at the duo the teachers were also looking at them as well.
The teachers were also talking to each other, looking angry. They could only vent their frustrations about the duo. They had a perfect record even though they skipped classes all the time and had perfect grades. The principal let them do whatever they wanted. They probably had some high connections. They even went to the school board about the problems and the disrespectful attitude. They were denied and warned to leave the duo alone. Now they were adults. But most were petty. So they took their anger out on the other students since they could not mess with the duo.
Miss Williams sighed as she was the one who had to deal with them next after lunch. She looked towards Mr. White, who was next to her and blushed as he saw him smile at her. She was in love with the man since he seemed so passionate about his work. Sadly, he was married to the vice principal of the school. But, she could still convince him to stay a couple more nights after work. They had always done that many times. He did have a lot of money and invested in a lot of stocks so he was worth all the trouble. She shook her head as she saw Allie and Ash finish their food. She sighed. She had tried to get close to them. She heard Allie's parents and grandparents were rich. But, that little bitch knew her intentions.
Ash and Allie finished lunch and headed to their least favorite class. Ash sighed and dreaded Math class that was next for two reasons. He hates dealing with numbers all the time. He also hated Miss Williams. She tried to seduce him by bending over and wearing revealing shirts. He was lucky that he had Allie, who would cough and give her the death stare every time she tried.
Everyone heard the bell ring and walked back to their classes. Ash and Allie were already in Miss Williams's classroom as everyone else walked in. Miss Williams's revealing clothing and lack of a bra delighted many male students. Not that they had a chance since she only went for people who had money like the gold digger she was. Allie glared at her. Ash ignored her, playing Pokémon on his Switch. His homework and the warm-up questions were on his desk. She giggled at Miss Williams's brief frown. Her scheme had failed. "Well then, class. Lunch is over. That does not mean there won't be any work." We will be having a pop quiz after the warm-up questions. If I find you cheating, you will be getting a zero." Miss Williams said as she had a tense smile on her face as she looked at Allie.
Miss Williams looked around. Some students smiled. They thought she forgot about the homework she assigned last night. She saw Ash and Allie have their warmup and homework already out and done fully.” Also I want the homework that you were supposed to do last night. Please leave it on your desk while I walk around.” Miss Williams said this as she walked around, taking the homework. Ash sighed, remembering when Allie forced him to do his homework at the last minute. He loved Allie but he wished that he could just never have to do homework and read books and play games all day.
He had a goofy smile on his face as he was playing Pokémon, but inside he was dreading to deal with a math quiz. He wished for something to happen. He wanted to avoid another boring math class. His teacher kept hitting on him, and Allie was giving her death glares. Good thing he has gray hair already as the stress would have turned it that colour anyway. As he was having that thought everyone in the classroom felt the earth rattle beneath them. The earth trembled, and explosions sounded in the distance. All the students and Miss Williams panicked.
BOOM
BOOOOOOOM
“Everyone get underneath the desk in case the roof falls and crushes us! Get the cover right now!” Miss Williams said as she hid underneath her desk as well as the other students. Ash covered Allie with his body as they hid underneath the desk. As they hid, they heard screams from outside the school. The lights flickered and the windows broke. It sounded like hell on earth. It lasted for hours. When things seemed normal again, the students and Miss Williams got up from under their desks.
“Is everyone alright from the earthquake? If you are injured, come towards me so I can tend to your wounds.” Miss Williams said as she walked around to make sure that everyone was okay. Ash and Allie got up from underneath the desk. As they were standing by each other Ash checked Allie for injuries and smiled as he saw that she was okay. "Well, I guess we won't have to take that quiz now," Ash said, laughing. Allie sighed in contempt and checked for injuries. Sadly, his craziness was beyond repair. As the students and the teacher calmed down, they checked their wounds. They saw blue, alive-looking, swirling energy. It formed words that said.
