FALLEN ANGEL
Orange Blossom

Orange Blossom

In the city's great exhibition hall, the local book fair is in full swing and the aisles are packed. In the middle of the tumult, two men run laughing like kids from stand to stand, their hands full of books.

“Sunny!” Call David “Come, this booth looks pretty good!” Sunny, who had stopped to read the back cover of a book, puts it down and joins his sidekick.

They started with Liu Cixin's stand and had their books signed. Then listened to the readings of “Foundation” , the masterpiece of Asimov. Then they decided to explore the rest of the hall, accomplices in their euphoria.

After several hours, tired and hungry, they were attracted by the sweet smell emanating from a pancake stand.

"Wait, sit there and keep the books, I'm going to go order. What do you want?" David asks

Sunny, exhausted, is delighted to be able to rest his little legs “A pancake with strawberry jam and a mountain of whipped cream please!” The water rising to his mouth imagining his dessert.

“A mountain of whipped cream?!” repeats David, hilariously. "It's cute! OK a mountain of whipped cream!” He gave him a wink and left to queue.

He reappeared a few minutes later, laden with two pancakes buried in whipped cream on two paper plates. Placing the dessert that the little waiter's eyes are already coveting in front of him.

"THANKS!" Sunny said, his eyes sparkling before taking a spoon full of whipped cream and sip. “Mmmmm! it's too good!" he exclaims! Then, turning his head towards David's plate "What did you take?"

David laughs at the boy's childish behavior. Smiling at him “I had a nutella banana crepe under a mountain of whipped cream!”

Sunny's eyes glint greedily at the statement on the second plate, "You see, the mountain of whipped cream is a good idea!" he underlines without taking his eyes off the plate.

Seeing his sidekick's interest in his dessert, David, amused, offers him "Do you want to taste it?" The boy's eyes sparkle and he shakes his head briskly up and down.

David cuts off a piece of the crepe generously drizzled with whipped cream and hands the spoon to Sunny, who swallows it greedily, holding his hand.

Cheek swollen with food, he chews contentedly.

David doesn't miss a beat of pretty Sunny's cute doings. He is having an unforgettable time. He had already done dozens of fairs like this one, but always alone, which is not that fun! He never imagined finding so much in common with him. He would like to stay longer with the boy. But Sunny is working tonight...

After finishing their pancakes, heading for the exit, still excited “Thanks again David! it was so fun!!!" Thank the beaming-faced Sunny.

The little waiter struggles to hold all the books he bought in his little hands, he should have brought a bag!

Suddenly, a big part of his books disappear from his hands and end up in those of David “Wait, I will help you!” he said to him.

“But I have to go home,” replies the embarrassed boy.

“I parked my car in the parking lot. Do you want me to accompany you? “ asks his reading companion.

Sunny hesitates, he shouldn't trust him. But David didn't make any remarks or show any signs that he wanted more than friendship. They act like buddies, nothing more.

As much as he dislikes the David Don Juan of the Fallen Angel, the guy who behaves like a kid in front of a book stand attracts his sympathy…

Finally, he nods. After all, they can be good friends!
