Chapter 7: Truth by Beginning

Aziya:

The bed felt warm and comfortable, the first time she layed in it she felt as if it were a cloud, compared to cold sheets she and her brother had to share in the winter, Ophelia had left her at her apartment to go to the guild that she was a part of. Aziya got up staring at her reflection in the mirror, after the bath she had her black hair had changed to a deep oak brown. Her eyes glowed a golden yellow, she sighed as she surrounded herself with the light that she had surrounded Ophelia last night.

“Who are you?” She felt the presence before it showed itself, it shimmered in front of her “What are you?”

“...” it didn’t say anything as it started to form, a statue grasping to the hilt of a sword as the edge touch the ground “I laid dormant for centuries waiting for his return child”

“Who?” Aziya watched as wings formed to the statue, the face smooth and covered like it was a faceless mask.

“The Hanged King has chosen his successor child, it is time for me to choose mine” The statue held its index finger up to her forehead, and Aziya felt a sting as the world got wobbly, “You will be the saviour of this realm, The Hanged King awaits your return…”

“What?” She felt something hot at her forehead. Her hands clutched her forehead as a diamond shaped stone started to form on her head. The pain of the stone had her on her knees she cried as she flashed through memories of her mother, father and brother. When her father would play his harmonica to them. Her mothers face brushing her used-to-be long hair. Her brother plays pranks on her, their family laughing together. Then memories that didn’t belong to her rushed into her head; a man completely chained to the ground by noose-shaped chains, a well with a single lily, a dancing man waving a knife?

“What did you show me?” Aziya got up as the pain subsided in her head the memories didn’t belong to her, they didn’t look as if they belonged to this world “What was that”

“It is your decisions that will affect the fate of this world” The statue said, “I am the Tore, guardian of the gate.”

Aziya remembered the stories that her mother used to tell her, an angel befallen upon realms as a guardian of the gates to the Null, a realm where abilities were originated from. Aziya watched Tore as it spread its wings. Her hand trembled as she reached for the mirror, “Your the Guardian of the gates to the Null?”

“Your guess is very on point child” Tore flexed her many wings, a glowed started to emit from her “Guardian of the Null, The Origin, Gate Guardian, I have many names however I would rather you call me ‘Tore’”

Aziya had so many questions for Tore but before she could Tore disappeared and Ophelia rushed in.

“Aziya come on get ready, let's go!” Ophelia said as she threw some clothes to Aziya “The Guild master wants to see you and questions”

“Questions about what?” Aziya, still shocked about the now glowing rock on her forehead, pointed to it and turned to Ophelia “Can you see this?”

“See what?” Ophelia said touching Azyia’s forehead “Nothings there”

“Nevermind” Aziya said staring at the spot Tore had been, pushing the thought aside and grabbed the clothes“Lets go”
