Epilogue of Book I

Epilogue of Book I

The first shot comes from behind the hooded Jiv. It's a shovel lashed by Filo who moved in the shadows.

The other man and Endya are alarmed but…

“Stop.”

Sely also comes out of her hiding place with her gun pointed.

Although the light only comes from the torches of those present, she is confident that she can hit the mark. The firepower is on her side.

“Sely!?” Endya's voice is shaking, “are you still alive!?”

“You seem surprised.”

“Indeed I am, I thought the titan would exterminate you all…”

Sely moves the antennas. “I killed him.”

“But now you're out of shots, right?”

“Wanna bet?”

Sely is tense. She finally has the opportunity to confront Endya and the murderers of her father. The possibility of revealing all her cards is aimed with the gun.

“So, Sely, you don't say anything? Do you want to kill us in cold blood? Or maybe you don't have any ammo, huh?”

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

A simmering inner anger, Sely bites her lower lip. In the dark with the torches shining just outside their beam, the humans do not see her belt loaded with ammunition.

“What do you have in mind? Why did you kill my father?”

The hooded man is about to speak but. “Don't tell her anything. The Marquise did not authorize us to speak.”

“Endya, yes, but…”

“Shut up I said. She doesn't have any strokes anyway, so...”

A very loud bang shakes the room. The sound of stuff falling off the shelves and…

Sely intravede un movimento.

Boom!

She shoots and a scolopendra ends up in a thousand pieces.

“You have more shots, go away!”

In the case that follows, Sely tries to reunite with Filo. She shoots more insects and loses track of Endya and her collaborator.

“Filo!”

He points the flashlight at her, carrying the unconscious Jiv behind her.

“Cover me Sely, we'll let him give us the answers!”

“But what happened!? An earthquake?”

“I don't know, but we have to move!”

Boom!

Boom!

Sely shoots, luckily there don't seem to be any other invaders. Her firepower is overwhelmed and shelves are heard falling.

“This way, this way!”

Escaping up a side stone staircase, the noises and external light arrive.

They are in a cave that opens onto the fjord wall and opens out onto the sea.

“Anf, anf… we should be safe here.” Filo places Jiv against the rock and turns to Sely. “What do you think?”

Sely, however, is catatonic. She stares at a point in front of her.

“Filo, it wasn't an earthquake. It's not even a matter of days...”

“Sely what… oh…”

The flying city has landed. Like a sword stuck in the stone, it stands out over the sea. High, much much higher than the fjord, it is lost in the sky.

The city has arrived and no one knows what that means.

What does it mean and what it implies?

Fear.

Hope.

Unknown from the distant past.

What the scolopendras, the inhabitants of Vanoge, or the spiders of Creraga intend to do is of no importance now.

The city has landed and no one is ready to welcome it.
