Isolation Camp #4001

Extract from page 1 of ‘The Great Outbreak’ by Zhi Cong:

“Hexagon-20: This is the name of the harmless virus that was originally found in pigeons. However, during an extermination experiment conducted by the [Deleted] government, Hexagon-20 was used to kill the bacteria, Bluehills, which during the extermination process, the genetic information of Hexagon-20 was altered by the Bluehills, creating the virus that we all know today, the Pentagon-91...”

Extract from page 2 of ‘The Great Outbreak’ by Zhi Cong:

“The exact reason how Pentagon-91 left the research facility was still unknown to this day. Many theorists claimed that the breach was caused during a live sample testing, where a white rat was infected by the virus. Although the rat was ultimately exterminated, the lice on its body escaped to other non-infected rat containers, and after a few levels, the D-class also known as the unprotected personals in the research facility, are infected with the virus. Given its long-dormant period (which varies from a few months to even years), the virus was able to infect 30% of the world population before the global governments realized the existence of the virus in their countries. Thus, most attempts to stop the spread proved to be too late…”

Extract from page 3 of ‘The Great Outbreak’ by Zhi Cong:

“…which allowed Pentagon-91 to evolve into Pentagon-91-A (Pt91A for short) which have a mortality probability of over [Deleted] per cent…Carriers of Pt91A will show no symptoms for months, but when the virus was ready, harmful symptoms such as [deleted] and [deleted] will start to appear…In the end, the carriers will [deleted], which releases a gas nicknamed ‘Plasma cloud’ that contains quadrillion number of virus-carrying droplets that can fully submerge any surfaces within the radius of [deleted] meters…”

Extract from section D, page 42 of ‘2069 United Nation Report’ published and distribute by the United Nation:

“…As Pt91A proved to be extremely infectious, even in a dormant state, all diagnosed carriers must be put into the depressurized isolation chambers. All family members, close relatives or other people who had contact with the carrier must be put under quarantine in the normal isolation chambers for 4 months and have monthly blood same testing…The remains of the former carrier after [deleted] must be put into the furnace together with the isolation chamber. Any person who had…”

Extract from section A, page 20 of ‘2072 United Nation Report’ published and distributed by the United Nation:

“…since vaccines and cures are still far from completion, all doctors with a medical class B can issue VX pills to Pt91A carriers…If the carrier refuses to obey [deleted] or forcefully resist, the class B doctor may inform a class F doctor who will [deleted] or [deleted] the carrier. Class F doctors, also known as the ‘Finale Doctors’ have the responsibility of visiting all Isolation camps/towns and [deleted] all carriers of Pt91A…”

The year 2092, Month December, date [Unknown]

Location: Isolation Camp 4001

The new ice age had long arrived, snow, ice and blizzard removed every different colour other than white from the surface of Earth. The once oily grassland had turned to an Ocean of white. Any droplets of water exposed in the open will transform into blobs of ice in a matter of milliseconds.

Surrounding the top rim of the pressure door towards the Isolation Camp were dagger-like ice-pillars that extended way beyond one meter. Yet, two persons crouched together beside the door, using their inflatable suit, they looked like two large balloons. With a shaking, low voice, one of the people asked the other, “Are you sure about the date?”

“I am very sure,” the other replied, “that guy is probably stuck in a storm or the road is overly thickened with snow.”

“I hope we can just wait for him inside the camp,” one claimed while pressing the ‘Heat’ button on his hazard suit rapidly, “we’ll need to recharge our suits in an hour, gosh, I’m fucking freezing.”

“Just a little more,” his partner took out a binocular and searched, “Quite a heavy storm today, can’t see shit outside of 30 meters.”

The wind raged on and the two men moved and squeezed more tightly together. They lowered their faces into their suits, preventing their skin to crack.

Wrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnn…

A low pitched and heavy mechanical noise finally appeared in their ears. The men looked up and changed their suits’ mode into ‘Movement Mode’ to reduce the amount of inflation around their bodies.

WRRRRRRRRNNNNNN…

“Finally here,” the men muttered.

Slowly, a gigantic dark figure appeared through the thick white screen, as it moved closer, its powerful searchlights caused the men to shift their focus away. It was a former tracked AFV (Armored Fighting Vehicle) that was used for troop transportations and scouting mission. The trapezium-shaped AFV was painted white with a gigantic red cross painted on its upper front plate. Instead of its missile-carrying turret, the AFV different turret with a weapon like attachment that appeared too large for machine gun yet too small for a howitzer.

The AFV stopped right before the men, then it turned around, allowing its rare to face the entrance towards the Isolation camp.

Bzzzz…CLUNK!

The armour plates on the rare of the AFV moved aside, forming a large entrance for its passenger to exit.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Thump! Thump!

The men watched in horror, as the person, or a mysterious creature appeared from the inside of the AFV. Its heavy footsteps shook the ground and it stopped before the men and looked down from a meter above.

“Scanning subjects.”

Instead of a face, the person had a thick carbonized steel visor protecting on its head. In the middle of the plate was a large circular green flashing ‘light bulb’, surrounding it, like the eyes of a spider, were a few dozen smaller ‘light bulbs’. Below the visor was a gas mask-like object, with the left side attached to an oversized air filter while the right side attached to a tube that connected to a life support container behind the back of the person. The rest of the person’s body appeared to be half nuclear-proof polymer suit and half mechanical armour. Nervously, the men noticed a few machine gun ammo boxes hanging on the waist of the person, but they couldn’t spot his weapon. Yet, the most unique part of the person’s costume was probably the large cowboy hat, that has several bullet holes on top of it.

“Simple Scanning complete subjects: safe,” the person’s voice sounded like a broken radio.

“Ummm…” one man finally spoke up, “ are you doctor Riley…?”

“Yes, I am,” despite the poor quality of its voice, the huge person’s tone of speech warmed

up, it reached out with its huge gloved hand, “Class F doctor Riley at your service.”

The man shook the doctor’s hand uneasily, “Nice to you meet you, I am Roy and this is my

son Eric.”

“Nice to meet you too Roy and Eric,” the doctor replied, “my temperature indicator said that

it is currently minus thirty-eight degrees, guess I should better go in before you guys become

statues of ices.”

“No problem doctor Riley,” Roy laughed, he turned towards the entrance and entered a few

passcodes on it. As a result, the centre of the door started to rotate, then the rims around it followed, finally, the whole circular door started to rotate like needles on a clock.

CLAN!

The rotations stopped and the door swung open slowly. After the three entered, the door closed quickly from behind.

“Ahh~” Eric removed his suit quickly once the warm breeze surrounded him, “Feels good to be back.”

“Your temperature control system seemed to be working fine,” the doctor claimed, “in my previous visit to another camp, their heat-sensing mechanism malfunctioned, which a half of them died to the cold.”

“That is sad to hear,” replied Roy who removed his suit swiftly, “luckily, we got a few Engineers who constructed all the isolation camps and they can maintain the systems here.” Which, he pointed at the huge turbine on top of the ceiling.

The isolation camp seemed just like a normal town, but with no high-rise buildings nor cars, instead of the sun, the campuses nuclear lighting systems that can last for centuries without any need to resupply. The houses are built by 3D printers, which at the corner of the camp, a few new homes are under construction. The people appeared to be doing their mandarin tasks, but all of them wore grey coloured masks across their faces.

“Where are the depressurized isolation chambers?” the doctor asked.

“This way,” Roy led the huge doctor down the street and stopped at a few houses that seemed to be more like steel blocks, “we currently have around fifty of these and we also got another hundred of those normal isolation chambers.”

“What is the pressure grade?” the doctor moved towards one of the chambers and placed his mechanical hand on the wall to read its other specifications.

“Grade 8.” Roy replied, “do you want to do your examination here?”

“Sure,” the doctor opened the thick entrance door of the depressurized isolation chamber, “summon your citizens.”

Within an hour, a long line of people formed outside of the depressurized isolation chamber, a room of 5 meters was left between each person even within each family.

“Don’t move around!” Roy shouted through a megaphone, “No matter if you are in a family nor with friends, you must keep a distance of five meters between each other!”

“Who are we seeing Mr Roy?” a kid about six who is wearing an adult grade air filter, dragged Roy as he walked past, “Why can’t I stay with my mom?”

Patiently, Roy smiled at the kid through his mask, “you are going to see the best doctor in the world. She’ll, sorry, I am not sure of the doctor’s gender yet, but the doctor gonna give you a little check and, done!”

“Check what? Mr Roy?” the kid continued his question.

Roy hesitated a bit, and finally said, “to check if you have peed your bed last night.”

“No he won’t,” the kid laughed, but Roy had moved away down the line. The kid watched disappointedly at Roy, but his attention was soon caught by Doctor Riley’s robotic voice from within the chamber, “the first person, please come in.”

An elderly woman who was first in line walked into the isolation chamber. As soon as her eyes met with the appearance of the doctor, she took a deep breath through her mask, “So it is true…”

“Please don’t let my appearance deceive you,” the doctor noticed its patient’s worries, “I’m just human wearing a piece of portable examination equipment as well as a super-strong air filter. You know, I have to clean up the remains of plasma clouds sometimes and I have to be fully submerged in chlorine.”

“Thank you,” the woman said, “sorry, I heard a few stories about F…Doctors like you…”

“Not a problem,” the doctor laughed through its electronic speaker which started to make a buzzing sound, “sorry, I have to repair my speaking device later, alright, shall I start the check?”

“Go ahead good doctor,” the woman replied and stood very still.

The doctor pressed a green switch on his left arm and suddenly, its visor split through the middle and the green ‘light bulb’ was pushed out, exposing the inside which is a mess of tiny radio-dish-like detectors as well as a few laser pointers.

“Okay,” after a few charging noises, the doctor pulled the two-piece of the visor even further apart, making its ‘face’ like a huge solar panel, “you may close your eyes for a bit, and I’ll tell you when to open them.”

The woman shut her eyes tightly and a dark filter deployed on her mask.

FLASH!

In a sudden, the whole room filled with light, all the shadows were gone, only pure brightness. The ‘light bulbs’ on the doctor’s face turned into mini suns, and the woman could feel the intense heat generated by the lighting.

“All done!” the light intensity dimmed, and the doctor pushed its visor back to the original form, “All your stats are fine, but your blood pressure is a bit high, I’d suggest you follow this diet for a month, here you go.” A small piece of receipt was printed out from the doctor’s thick armour-plated arm.

“Thank you, good doctor,” the woman left with her instructions.

“Next!”

A young man who dressed in historical army uniform entered, eyes closed, he had two pistol holders beside his waist, each had a large calibre handgun inside, “I already know the drill, just get it done already, I have a date later.”

“No problem,” the doctor readied its visor.

FLASH!

A long pause.

“Are you done yet?” the young man asked impatiently, he could hear some strange mechanical noises from the doctor.

“Yes, you may open your eyes,” the doctor claimed.

As the world reappeared in front of him, the young man saw the doctor holding a green pill, he asked nervously, “what’s that?”

“I am very sorry to inform you that,” the doctor said slowly through its speaker, “you’ll need to spend the rest of the week inside this chamber.”

“Why?”

“You are infected.”

The words were like dumbbells the weighed down the young man’s body, crushing him to

the ground, “is that the cure?”

“This?” the doctor looked down at the tiny pill, “it is something that can end your suffering

very quickly.”

“NO!” the young man cried, “Can I just be quarantined, and I’ll make sure I wear my mask

everywhere I go?”

“That is not an option,” the doctor said solemnly and stood up, “that is exactly how this

world what it is right now. You have one week to prepare all the things in life.”

“Can I just leave this isolation camp?” the young man attempted.

“Where will you go then?” the doctor argued back, “If you go to another camp, you are

just there to rain death upon them.”

“…” the young man said nothing more, “fine, give me the pills.”

The doctor cautiously passed the large, green pill towards him.

BAM!

The sound of the gunshot filled the room. The young man was holding both of his pistols, before his inevitable death that is.

“Quite fast,” the doctor swung his huge revolve shaped pistol with an extended barrel, “just another millisecond, you could have shot me, but you may never penetrate my armour.”

On the young man’s forehead, was a tiny hole with no blood spelt at all, instead, a white cream appeared from the inside that automatically filled the hole. The young man’s pistols reached the ground, and his body finally collapsed. At the same time, the doctor’s cowboy hat started to blast a mysterious gas, a deadly, greenish gas that is.

“I am sorry,” the doctor gestured at the dead body as the whole room was filled with the gas.

Report: Isolation Camp 4001 is well maintained, but low-level infections were occurring. Four out of the seven Pt91A carriers cooperated and stayed in the depressurized isolation chambers. Yet, the rest of the carriers needed to be terminated by force. Report complete.
