After Qin Feng left the place where he fought the slime, he walked forward for hours yet he still hadn’t met anything except some wild animals in the fields.
He felt lucky that he still hadn’t caught the attention of scary monsters that could end him just like that mythical beast that flew above him earlier.
Just thinking about it sends shivers to his spines.
He is feeling more hungry and dehydrated due to this long walk. Earlier, he saw a red mushroom that made him drool. Although it looked edible, he decided against it since it was like a cliché event where he will eat that mushroom and roll because of intense pain in his stomach that will lead to him dying a stupid death.
Yes, he has something called [Appraise] but due to intense hunger and dehydration, he can’t think clearly and even if he does remember it. He won’t use the skill because he still can’t trust the reliability of his newly acquired skill.
He did use it on the slime but the amount of information was very limited and didn’t show enough proof of its use.
Walking like a zombie, Qin Feng started murmuring to himself.
“Muuuu… Just a bit more and I will start gobbling this green grass just beneath me. If this goes on I might start eating things that I shouldn’t just like that red mushroom.”
Qin Feng sighs to himself. He shook his head and started focusing more on his directions. After a few more minutes, he saw something just a bit away from his current position.
He finally saw a road and even found a carriage currently on its way to the east. He immediately walks to the slow horse carriage.
Getting nearer to the horse carriage, he saw an armored-man riding a horse just at the side of the carriage.
The man turned his head towards Qin Feng. He was glad that he didn’t need to shout to make them notice him.
“YOUNG MAN, HOLD YOUR POSITION!”
The armored man loudly shouted to Qin Feng.
Qin Feng was astonished that this guy would suddenly shout with hostility at him. He just wanted to ask for some information but he didn’t expect that he will be caught in this troublesome moment.
“Young man, state your reason that you dare come near to the horse carriage of my highness!”
“I apologize for disturbing your journey. I came from one of the secluded villages and was lost in my journey to the nearest city. I beg for forgiveness for I didn’t know that this carriage has a respected person inside of it. This commoner didn’t know much so please pardon me.”
Qin Feng could only put a wry smile on his face. He didn’t expect that he already encountered a big shot this early. He wouldn’t want to offend the person inside of the carriage because he still cares for his lowly life and he just started adapting in this new world.
“As long you know your place! Now go away. We don’t have alms for the commoners!”
“I deeply apologize for the disturbance. I will be on my way now.”
Qin Feng immediately turned around and walked away. He doesn’t want to stay a bit longer because he can’t endure more of the arrogance that this man exudes.
“Hold!”
A voice of a young man resounds inside the carriage. Qin Feng stopped walking and didn’t know if he should laugh or cry. He was being shooed away earlier but now he is asked again to stop.
The door of the carriage was opened and a young man that looks around 17 years old came out.
He has a spiked red hair that it looks like shooting up to the sky, a pair of calm and collected eyes that don’t look appropriate to his age and his prince-like face that many girls long for.
Basically, he is that handsome young man that seems like he could pick the girls he wanted anytime he wanted. Not only that, he has a bit of that arrogant atmosphere around him that most people in the top of the pyramid have.
“This lowly commoner pays respect to the young master.”
Qin Feng immediately greeted. He read too many novels that he already knows what and when to use respectful words to avoid offending a random young master that will chase you will all their might. Just thinking of offending one makes him feel lightheaded.
He can still remember a part of the novel that he really loved which is called the “Exalted Immortal Emperor”. The main character was a bit conceited because he knew he was strong so he needlessly offended a random young master.
The twist is that this young master was actually the direct descendant of the patriarch of a prominent clan in his kingdom.
He ended up killing this young master because he was keep being annoyed by this guy but he didn’t think he will end up being chased by the whole clan.
The actual sequence that happened is actually,
The young master chased him, he executed the young master.
The father chased him, he sent him to where his son is.
The grand elders chased him; he assisted them to bring their two feet on the grave. They’re too old to chase a youngster.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The ancestor chased him; the ancestor became a history.
The whole clan chased him, so he ended up annihilating the whole clan.
Qin Feng wanted to experience the things that protagonists do but this kind of experience is not needed.
He doesn’t want to live such a stressful life of being chased to the ends of the world. This is the reason why he chooses his words wisely and he would even try his hardest to give way to the arrogant to place them above him.
“Umu. I heard that you are currently on your journey to the city and we also happen to go to the same way. Why not come and join my carriage so that we can introduce ourselves to each other? The space inside is open and I’m the only one aboard.”
The young master offered to him with a smile on his face.
Qin Feng’s mouth twitched because it seems like this will be really troublesome.
He wants to reject it and walk away right now but that will be offending the good grace of this young master. He even bet that it will cause great displeasure to the young master.
The armored man frowned and looked at Qin Feng with displeasure and disdain. He immediately said,
“Young master, this guard begs to differ. If we allowed this beggar inside the carriage, it will lower your reputation if people find out. He is unworthy sitting in the same carriage with you, a talented and high-born prince of your clan. Furthermore, we don’t know if this man doesn’t have malicious intention on coming here.”
Qin Feng felt a surge of anger because this guard keeps degrading his image. Although he just arrived in this world and has nothing except his bag and some stuff, he was not at that point where he needed to kowtow and beg for help.
The young master in front of him frowned. He is displeased that his guard is rebuking his decisions.
The armored man noticed this and backed off. Although he is displeased that they will have to accompany an unknown man, he can’t afford to offend his young master because his job right now might be removed tomorrow if he doesn’t know his position.
“Then I will gratefully accept the offer of accompanying the young master to the city.”
Qin Feng didn’t have much choice so he ended up accepting. He and the young master entered the carriage then it started moving again.
Inside the carriage, the young master and Qin Feng is currently sitting in front of each other.
Silence is looming inside the carriage and only the steps of the horse and the shaking of the carriage can be heard. After a few minutes, the young master finally broke the silence.
“I’m Chu Fan. As what you have heard, I’m from the Chu Clan, one of the prominent clan in the city of Valkya. Although I was born with a silver spoon, I never cared about my position and only held great importance on strength. If you are strong, I will respect you with all of my efforts but if you are weak, only a few weak people can catch my attention.”
Chu Fan resolutely said. Qin Feng can see the fighting spirit and honesty in his eyes. He felt a sense of relief when he found out that this young master in front of him is not the overbearing type. Now he can speak a bit more freely around him.
“Thank you for introducing yourself to me, young master Chu. I’m Qin Feng, a child of a commoner in a secluded village in the near west. I’m currently on my journey to the nearest city and I am very happy to meet someone like you, young master Chu.
“No need for thanks, you can just call me Chu Fan when we are the only one talking to each other.”
Qin Feng was surprised that he can call this young master with only his name without any honorifics.
He tried to refuse but Chu Fan told him that he will only be displeased if he used honorifics because this only stops them from talking freely.
The two started talking about random things from how good the weather is outside the carriage to funny jokes. They became more familiar with each other as time goes on.
Qin Feng was actually not that good at communicating but he actually managed to talk for hours with a stranger that he just recently met.
With a smile on his face, Chu Fan suddenly asked,
“I wanted to ask this since the beginning. Why do you look like you just survived a great storm?”
Qin Feng was not displeased because of the question because he might even think that Chu Fan is weird for not asking.
“Well, it’s a bit embarrassing. Hours before I met you guys, I was lost on my way so I was just walking anywhere luck took me. Walking for some time, I felt chills run down my spine. I looked at my back and saw a red dragon flew past some meters above my head. I really thought I was a goner at that moment!”
“Feng bro that’s the funniest joke I heard from you today. Dragons are so rare that there are only a few records about them in our clan library. As a matter of fact, they don’t appear that much and most people thought that they were already extinct.”
Chu Fan said while laughing. Qin Feng could only put a wry smile on his face because he knows that it’s too unbelievable.
“Well, it’s your choice if you want to believe it. Moving to the next part of my journey, I was already so hungry that time and didn’t know what to do. Guess what I encountered on my way.”
“What is this thing that you encountered? Don’t tell me it’s a phoenix with its everlasting flame?”
Chu Fan said with a laughter even louder than before. Even the armored man outside the carriage was surprised that this young master of his could actually laugh like it was the best day of the year.
Qin Feng looked at this young master that only a bit more, he might go rolling on the carriage due to laughter.
“Pupu. You’re wrong. I encountered a rock.”
Qin Feng said this then he saw Chu Fan stopped laughing then stared at him wide-eyed.
“You encountered a rock?”
“Umu. A rock that was standing tall in front of me like it was in a better condition than me who was going to collapse due to hunger. I was so irritated that I had to kick it with all my force. But… it didn’t go well. The rock was actually so hard that I felt my foot breaking and while I was jumping because of intense pain, I slip and fell to the ground. My head hit another rock on the ground then I went unconscious.”
Qin Feng said looking like the unluckiest person in the world. This time Chu Fan can’t hold it anymore and rolled all over the carriage due to intense laughter.
He felt embarrassed and stopped talking. After several minutes, Chu Fan finally calmed down. The two rested for a while because they were talking nonstop for hours.
After a few hours of resting in the carriage,
“We arrived at the city of Valkya!”
The armored man shouted from the outside of the carriage. The two then woke up from their rest and walked out the carriage. The first thing that Qin Feng saw is the magnificent walls of the city of Valkya.
After looking for a while, Qin Feng saw the long lane in the entrance then looked at Chu Fan.
“Young Master Chu, I’m deeply indebted to you for allowing me to accompany you in your carriage.”
Qin Feng sincerely said. He was actually very happy to meet such a good friend in this new world but it was time for them to separate since he was just an ordinary commoner and Chu Fan is a high-class person from a prominent clan.
“What will you do now that we’re here? I don’t mean to offend but it seems like you have little knowledge in this city. I can help you out if you need my hand.”
Chu Fan said. He enjoyed the company of Qin Feng and he wanted to discuss many things with him a bit more.
“Many thanks for the offer of Young Master Chu but everything you do for me until now was enough for me. Someday I will return the favor.”
“No need to return the favor. It seems like this is where we part; the only thing I ask for you is for us to meet again.”
“Alright. I believe that we will meet again someday. I will be going now, Young Master Chu.”
The two parted with each other in the gates of Valkya City but what they didn’t know is that they will meet each other again because of surprising circumstances.
