The sun rays beam down onto Jack's resting face, waking him from his slumber. Letting out a yawn he stretches and comes out of his bed.
He turns over an look at the sleeping face of Rebecca, who appears to be sleeping quite well. Her bruising seems to be recovering and the swelling on her left eye seems to be going down. Jack thinks to himself, 'maybe she'll be able to open her eye today.' A smile creeps on his face as he starts getting up.
Once dressed, Jack goes over his supplies he got from the supply store he raided yesterday. Several cans of food and his two gallons of water.
Jack walks over to the sleeping Rebecca and checks on to make sure she is still breathing.
Once he finished that he sets prepares some morning breakfast. Sadly, not much to choose from besides some beef ravioli or Spaghetti Os. Jack chooses the latter.
Cooking that up fills the room with a delicious type of sleep. Which causes Rebecca to stir in her sleep.
Letting out a soft groan, she catches Jack's attention.
Setting the stove temperature to low, he turns to her immediately.
"Good morning." He says with a smile as he brushes her hair out of her face.
She returns with a weak smile and in a soft weak voice she says, "G-Good Morning."
Jack wipes her face, cleaning her wounds all over her face and removing any sleep crusts she has on her eyes.
To Jack's surprise she opens her left eye, but barely! A smile appears on her face when she does it.
Jack knows that smile means she can see out of her eye, and he internally cheers for her.
A couple hours go by as he feeds her breakfast, cleans her wounds all around her body, and changing her clothes.
As midday comes around Jack gets a notification from the system.
'New quest available! Save survivors from Attack on Raiders! Reward, 1,000 experience points and 100 system points! Do you accept or not?'
Jack ponders for a few moments before thinking to himself, 'where are these survivors? And how many raiders?' Jack isn't fool hardy enough to charge into the unknown, especially with Rebecca in her condition.
A moment later the system responds back to him, 'Survivors are about 1.2 Miles from current location, and Raiders number is unknown.'

Thinking to himself, 'that's about 2.4 miles moving through the city, and who knows what type of people or creatures I'll meet along the way... I'm assuming there's a time limit, so, how long do I got?'
The system pauses for a moment, as the air feels heavy around Jack, 'less than 24 hours.' The system says in a monotone.
Jack closes his eyes for a moment weighing the odds of getting there and rescuing the people from these raiders, and the odds of Rebecca being fine by herself. Just as he is about to decide on what to do, he feels a small tug on his pants.
He turns his attention toward what was tugging on his clothes and sees Rebecca's arm gripping his pant leg.
She smiles at him and says, "If you need to get more supplies don't worry about me. I'll be alright."
Hearing those words come out of her mouth makes Jack's decision.
He smiles at her and pats her head, "I'll be back by nightfall."
She smiles back and nods her head, "See you soon."
Jack steps out of the tent, and calls out to the system in his head, 'Hey is there any shops or places close that can get me something slightly bigger than this knife?'
A few seconds later, Jack notices two yellow dots on his mini map. Assuming the furthest one is where the survivors are, and the closest one is where the weapon shop is he sets out.
About 10 minutes later he comes across what looks to be a rundown store, the windows are smashed in and it seems it had caught fire a while ago. The front door is missing so Jack, cautiously walks inside.
As he steps into the room the smell of burnt wood and burnt flesh fill his nostrils. Jack quickly takes out a piece of cloth and covers his nose and mouth as he slowly ventures further.
He finds a door shut in the back, as the rest of the place is desolate and burnt. He steps up to the door and pushes on it. The door doesn't move.
Jack slams his shoulder against the door, and it bows and snaps, a loud crash can be heard throughout the store as Jack tumbles into a dark room.
As he slowly steps up a pungent odor hits him in the face, he looks up trying to identify what smells like death.
Sitting on a chair appears to be a decaying man. His cheeks are sunken in and his skin is gray. It appears he's been dead for several days inside this room. His hair is barely attached to his head and eyes look hallow.
Jack steps around the dead man and notices a shiny object.
As he walks over to it, he notices that the object is a gun, and not any type of gun but a .357 Smith and Wesson 686! And scattered across the desktop is about 4 rounds.
Jack picks the gun up and checks to see if there are any rounds in the chamber. He notices there are about 4 rounds inside.
He fills the rest of the gun full and leaves the area as quickly as possible.
Stepping outside he notices the sun is starting to fall, it's a bit after noon. So, he decides to start lightly jogging toward the other yellow dot.
Soon enough he comes out of an alleyway and notices a few men standing outside a small pub.
He notices that the men are carrying around hatchets and machetes.
He slowly scouts around the building and notices through a window three other men standing in front of a group of people kneeling on the ground.
He studies the interaction between the two groups and watches as one of the men slap a woman in the face, causing her to fall on the ground. The man eventually starts to mount the woman and Jack narrows his eyes. Thinking to himself, 'I'm going to kill you nice and slow.'
Jack eventually makes his way around the back and sees an unguarded door.
As he approaches the door, he hears people pleading and begging, telling the other guards to stop him and to leave them alone.
Jack takes a deep breath and slowly opens the door, he whispers softly to himself, "Let's get started."
