The weather turns for the worse. Wind starts blowing dust all over the place. Jack puts his hand in front of his face, and he can just barely make out the outline.
"Damn, gotta try *pout* and find shelter *pout* in this shit!" Jack barely gets words out of his mouth as dust and sand fly in.
As he crawls through the city, he spots a glimmer of hope! "Yes! Thank the gods!"
Jack rushes toward what looks to be a busted up Seven Eleven. The windows are smashed out and but towards the back it seems to be dust free.
Jack quickly hides inside the building covering himself from the onslaught of debris, rain, and dust.
He starts searching around the building and finds a bathroom. Walking inside Jack spots himself in the mirror. Staring back at him is a young man covered in dirt with brown hair and golden eyes!
"What the hell happened to my eyes?! They used to be green!" Jack shouts out loud, slightly panicking.
A loud beep goes off, "Because of the system becoming part of your body, and for you to see the information, such as your status, your eyes had to be redesigned."
Jack takes a deep breath, "Ok, ok, ok, I can work with this..." Letting out a heavy sigh, Jack comes out of the bathroom.
"Looks like this storm is going to be awhile, mind as well get some rest." Jack mutters to himself.
Searching the small building, Jack finds a small office, seems there aren't any windows in there and it's quite dark, Jack finds a small corner and sits down, closing his eyes.
"Time to get some much-needed rest." Jack says letting out a yawn.
Several hours later, Jack is startled awake. "Oh! Shit!" Breathing heavily, Jack looks around the room, "Damn fucking nightmares."
Jack gets up and heads out of the office, once he's out there he notices the storm has passed and night has fallen.
"Well, at least the storm is gone." Jack heads on out.
"So, um, system. You got any idea where this girl is?"
"Yes."
"You mind telling me?"
"You have access to a map."
"I do?! How the hell do I access the damn thing, then?"
"Just think of a map and one will pop up. It will have the general location of where Rebecca is."
"Alright, thanks for lettin' me know." Jack closes his eyes and thinks of a map.
A moment later he opens his eyes, and a small miniature map is shown on his upright field of view.
"Woah, kinda neat." Rubbing the back of his head, "now let's see where you are..." Jack looks at the map and finds a yellow dot in one of the buildings ahead of him. "Interesting, alright I found her! Let's go!"
As Jack gets closer the Map starts showing a bunch of red dots. "Hm. I've played some video games before the invasion and I'm just guessing here but red means bad, right?"
"Yes." The system says in a monotonous tone.
"Alright!" Jack starts looking around for a weapon. "Come on, I knew I should have searched the bodies of those two ass holes I killed. Maybe I would have gotten a damn knife or something."
"There is a weapon shop inside the system, that you can access."
"Really?! Okay, let's get it out."
A loud beep rings in Jack's head as a massive menu pops up in front of him. Showcasing an overabundance weapons, armors, elixirs, and potions.
"Damn, there's a lot of shit here... What's up with the exchange? I need money to buy anything in this shop?"
Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
"The system requires experience points to be used as currency to purchase anything in the shop."
"So, I either level up or get weapons to gain power?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Well, it's all cool and shit, but I don't have any Experience points right now, so, this is useless to me." Jack rubs the back of head.
The menu disappears and Jack continues searching for a weapon.
"Hey! System, is there any way for me to, you know, open up the map to get like names on places of interest?"
"Yes, you can."
"Okay, and how do I do that?"
"Think of opening your status page, and then you will see tabs at the top. One will be called "MAP" touch that."
"Alright." Jack thinks of opening his status page and his stats pop up, displaying his low stats. He looks at the top and notices three tabs, one says "Status" another says "Map" and last one is "???", confused Jack says, "Why does one of the tabs have three questions mark?"
"You have yet you met the required tasks to gain access to that function. Once you do, you'll be able to open it."
"And what is the required task?"
"I cannot answer."
"Damn!" Jack rubs the back of his head, "Oh well, it is what it is."
Jack takes his pointer finger from his right hand and touches the "Map" option on his status page and the screen shows the entirety of New York City as it is now. There are a few white dots spread throughout the city.
"Are these white dots points of interest, system?"
"Yes, they are."
"Sweet! We are new one right now! I'm going to check it out and see what it is!"
Jack rushes over to one of the white dots, which is pointing to a broken-down store, from the scrabbled letters on the store front it seems to say MIKE'S something, the rest of whatever the shop said is gone.
"Nothing ventured nothing gain, lets head on inside and see what there is."
Jack walks into the store and it seems the place has been ransacked, the shelves are empty of what once looked to have guns and the glass counters have been shattered and emptied. Shelves knocked over, tiles busted up, light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, just low enough to bump your head on.
Jack ducks his head down as he navigates through the mess. "How the fuck is this a point of interest! There's nothing here!" Just as though words leave Jack's mouth something catches his attention.
Laying down on the ground appears to be a Karambit knife. Jack rushes over and picks it up. "Wow, can't believe they missed this puppy! I wonder if there is anything else here." Searching through the store he finds a small sheath designed for the knife he has, and a backpack.
"Alright, this seems to be good. I'm ready to save Rebecca!" Jack heads out of the store with his new knife and backpack strapped to his back.
As he approaches the building where Rebecca is being kept, he notices there are a few red dots surrounding the yellow dot.
"Shit! I gotta move before something bad happens!" Jack crouches down and maneuvers through the building, thank the gods for the map, as he can see where the enemy is, so he is able to stay out of the line of sight thanks to that. Until he meets one man blocking the way.
Jack slowly approaches the man from behind, one in reach, Jack bounces on the man taking the knife and sliding it across the man's throat. The only sound that can be heard is a small thud as Jack slowly lets the man's lifeless body fall to the floor.
< 20 Experience Points Gained >
Jack thinks to himself, "Wait wait wait, that's fucking right I gain XP for this shit. Alright alright, time to go on a small spree." Jack gets a murderous smile as he slowly approaches his next victim.
As he navigates the blind side of a man standing in front of a window overlooking the outskirts of the city, Jack takes the knife and thrusts it right into the back of the man's neck and thrusting upward. The man immediately drops dead.
< 20 Experience Points Gained >
"Damn, let's keep going!" Jack whispers to himself as he goes throughout the building eliminating every red dot he comes across.
< 20 Experience Points Gained >
< 20 Experience Points Gained >

This continues for a while.
As Jack finishes up one of the last red dots before the room where two red dots appear inside where Rebecca is Jack has gained 2 levels. He opens his status screen and sees.
