Adam smiled to himself, of course, he wasn't certain that this indeed was Hunter, but he could not just leave the puppy here, also though he was most likely imagining things but he felt weirdly... connected to the puppy 'I guess, I'll act as if this is Hunter's reincarnation until I confirm otherwise' So he decided in his uncertainty as he got up from the ground with the puppy in his arms.
He started looking at his surrounding inspecting the tall forest sparsely filled with foliage while muttering "Hmm, what should we do? I doubt this is the earth I know after that weird gold fire stuff... though it could be, but at the same time maybe I have been isekai'd? He-he, is this irony? Writing about them for the past few years off my life believing it's just fantasy to only have it happen to me in the end... Oh well, let's take care of the problems one by one."
Holding up one of his hands while holding the puppy in his other, he looked at his hand and started to count "First, We need food, Second Water, Third shelter and clothes, Fourth a weapon of some sort, something to protect us with" each time he named a problem he would quickly raise one of his fingers.
Adam once again became still looking at his empty hand before slowly raising his thumb as well "Five, find civilization or at least some sort of sentient race that won't enslave me or kill me because god knows why" he looked at his hand for a moment before he clenched his fist and lowered his hand to stop it from shivering.
He looked around himself, he was currently in a forest that had very tall trees that were thick enough that if he were to hug one he would just barely be able to touch his fingers together on the other side, leaves could be seen all over blocking out the sky with the many branches.
Looking up he thought of maybe climbing a tree to get a better look of his surroundings, but this idea was squashed as his gaze followed the tree along its length as he realized how tall it actually was, "Alright the first dumb idea is out" he said as his gaze stayed in the sky.
He couldn't help but gulp while looking at a small shadow that was circling in the sky right above him "W-well I suppose I should start moving” he muttered as he started walking, but not a moment latter a screech ripped at his ears. *Caaaw*
Adam's head quickly spun back as he saw the shadow now diving towards him, it was a hawk with what seemed like orange feathers that started out black as it turned orange towards the end, Adam did not hesitate for a moment to start running while keeping his head down and holding Hunter close to his chest.
But that didn't mean much as a moment later the hawk's claws ripped through his shirt as they dug into his back drawing blood and a yelp of pain from Adam, thankfully though the claws didn't go very deep, stumbling Adam was able to keep his balance and start running again.
*Caw*
The hawk let out another screech letting out the frustration of missing its prey out before it flapped its wings again and chased after Adam, thankfully the large bird had trouble navigating in the forest allowing him to gain some distance, however he wasn't particularly fast or anything actually he was quite slow after the random rocks and other debris started stabbing at his bare feet.
Suddenly Adam could feel heat behind himself, it felt like his heart skipped a beat before it accelerated, his face scrunched up as a few flashbacks of his untimely death ran through his mind while he turned around, he felt like his mind froze up for a moment not even realizing what he was doing.
His free arm swung and blocked the head sized ball of flames, the fireball exploded on impact instantly covering his arm with fire, unnoticed by him the golden flames before rose and covered his arm somehow absorbing most of the force, though the impact of the fireball was rather lack luster from what he expected it was still enough to destabilize him, sending him stumbling down to the ground hitting some rocks and exposed roots with his back.
Letting out a scream he forced himself to keep his eyes open, gritting his teeth he rolled to the side, sending another spike of pain through his burnt and destroyed arm while the pain in his back made him sluggish, the dirt that got in his wounds certainly didn't help. *Woof* *woof*
The barks of the pup went on deaf ears, literally since Adam could not hear a thing due to the ringing in his ears caused by the explosion, he did his best to run and try to use the trees as cover while dealing with the pain from his arm, back, and feet, ah right also his, burning from exhaustion, unfit leg muscles. 'Shit Shit Shit Shit' meanwhile cursing away in his mind.
Glancing back he could see the hawk skillfully move around the trees and branches while keeping its eyes on him, 'Damn it what can I do?' thought Adam with gritted teeth desperately looking around for anything that could help, 'Wait! I was Isekai'd! Probably! Status!' he called out in his mind as slowly his hearing came back.

A blue screen appeared in front of Adam with a ring, making his eyes glisten for a moment as he attempted to read it, but he could not do it properly in the middle of running away from a damn bird, still slowly bit by bit he was able to piece everything together only to realize there's nothing there to help him immediately.
'Damn iiit!' He screamed inside himself before ignoring the useless slab and looking in front of himself luckily dodging the tree that he almost slammed into headfirst, and not a second later the tree caught on fire after being hit by claws covered in flames.
Adam however was already over a meter away running while trying to grab his shirt with a finger from the hand that was holding Hunter, it took him a bit, but he was able to pinch the shirt and raise it up making a platform for the pup.
Seeing Hunter staying safe inside he pulled up the shirt to his mouth and bit it to hold it with his teeth successfully freeing his only working arm right after a branch slapped him over the eye, now that it was freed he was able to push away all the small obstacles on his way gaining slightly more distance between himself and the hawk.
'Think Adam think, what can you do? Hide? Where? Fight it? How? Scare it away? Yea, right, just run it is!' while Adam was contemplating his options and trash tier luck he pushed through some shrubbery to only see a river cutting off his path.
He could only make a split second decision, turning to his right and running following the river downstream, he could not afford to waste time by debating with himself on which direction is better to follow in his current circumstance.
Sweat rolled down his forehead, his breathing was ragged, his legs weaker and weaker with every second, his body overworked, injured, and pushed to its limit, still that's not enough, the hawk soon caught up flying over the river, its path now free of obstacles.
Their eyes locked for a moment, Adam knowing well that it saw him as lunch when it opened its beak, Adam noticed sparks erupt from the shifting feathers of the hawk before they gathered forming a ball of flames in front of its beak as the flame began to rise, growing in size little by little before it became a shining ball of fire.
Adam did the only thing that came to his mind at the moment, forcefully slowing down before twisting and colliding with a tree, successfully breaking his momentum while splattering blood on the tree, meanwhile the hawk that was slightly blinded by the ball of flames fired it only a few moments to slow as it impacted a tree a meter or two away from Adam setting it alight.
The hawk flipped around to attack Adam again, but he already slipped by the flames and continued running downstream, his back and feet hurt like a bitch but at least he protected his head when colliding with the tree, though it earned him scrapes on the back of his hand it was way better than slamming the back of his head and dazing himself.
He hopped the hawk would lose sight of him, but it was locked on to him and there was nothing he could do about it just run and hope to survive somehow, he went deeper into the forest where he wouldn't lose sight of the river while hopefully making it harder for the hawk to follow and shoot fireballs at him.
'It's been about five minutes now' thought Adam as he leaned against a tree catching his breath and clearing the sweat dripping from his brows while looking behind him, he seemed to have finally lost the damn bird, he was a little deeper into the forest now.
After a few breaths he couldn't help but smile triumphantly with the hem of his shirt still in his mouth, he had made sure to run as fast as possible for a while, but after he heard two fireball explosions in the distance he slowed down to a jog and opted for silence and distance over speed until he was too exhausted to continue.
Adam started muttering through gritted teeth, not letting go of his shirt "Now, what was that ding I heard, well I think I have an idea, Status" the blue screen once more appeared but this time it had a couple of extra `tabs` above the original screen.

He didn't have any more time to look at his status his body become weaker as the adrenaline finally dissipated, the numbing pain spread through his body, his head felt heavy, and he felt like he was blacking out "Come on shake it off" he muttered to himself as he shook his head.
His hazy eyes once more focused, and he started to stumble along through the forest in search of the river again. "I-I need to find a safe place... I don't want to be found defenseless by some horror monster or magical beast"
Meanwhile, over a dozen meters behind him the big fire hawk that was chasing not that long ago landed on a branch that barely shook even under the mass of the hawk, looking around it didn't take it long to find drops of blood on the ground and plants going in a direction away from it.
Its prey was much more durable than it thought it would be, it thought the hunt would be over as soon as the prey was cut off by the river, of course it could easily catch up to it and kill it but it didn't want to damage the meat too much... either way the hunt will soon come to an end all it had to do was be a little patient before the prey fell, and it would have its well-earned feast, it just hoped this new food it found tasted nice.
The eyes of the hawk slowly became misty and unfocused, a black paw appeared out of the shadow of the tree gripping onto it with the clean white claws that protruded from it, another paw gripped onto the branch.
Slowly the owner of the paws revealed itself while it pulled its rather massive body from behind the tree, a pure black wolf with deep orange eyes slowly inched towards the hawk as it revealed its pearly white fangs from its snout that creepily opened up above the neck of the hawk.
A bit of drool fell out of its mouth when it came to a stop and in the next moment its jaws closed with thunderous speed snapping down on the neck of the unmoving hawk, The fangs dug deep the pang off pain awakening the hawk from its stupor but that held no meaning when all it could do was flap its wings a bit before the wolf reached the ground.
The hawk did not dare move except its weak twitching wings and the shifting of its feathers as its body slowly weakened and became cold while the wolf analyzed the path of blood, thinking for a moment it turned away and went a different path, it knew the blood would lead it to more prey but what for? It already had its food, and it was satisfied for today, so it decided to leave it for tomorrow.
