Chapter 0030{Conversation}

The match of chess continued.

“Yes, so I lied, but did I do anything wrong?”

“No, not at all. A simple lie was able to avoid a civil war. Why would that be any wrong, and besides what kind of king does not actually lie to his people.”

“Ahh, but you must have felt pretty relieved when you were not included in the suspect list.”

“Well, there was no reason for me to worry. I was just someone who happened to get involved in someone’s else affairs.”

“I see, there was a surprising thing though, why would someone with spatial magic be the 3rd person to come out of the cave and not the first, I mean you could have just teleported, couldn’t you?”

“Yes, I could have been the first, but you see when the lights disappeared, I was rather more interested in finding out what caused it then being first, but unfortunately I could not find out what happened”

“You are now speaking with a person who has lived his life far longer than you have, isn’t there anything you would like to ask?”

“I do have many questions but are you willing to answer it?”

“Of course, if it's within my knowledge and I would answer your question.”

“You said, you lived for over a million years, I wonder how this world was a million years ago, barely any civilizations, no cultures, did elves or humans even exist then, but of course you would not know that since you were not in this world then.”

“What are you trying to imply?”

“You are not from this world, are you?”

“Why would I not be from this world?”

“A typical life expectancy of an elf is around 100-750 years, while of high elves is around 2000-3000 years, yet you say you lived for a million years, you could have found out some way to obtain immortality, but in this world, there is no record of anyone being able to successfully obtain immortality, so what happened did the gods bless you with immortality, no, in nearly every religion immortality is considered a curse, not a gift, so, were you cursed by the gods, no you were able to enter the shrine and a cursed being cant do that; moreover anyone who lives in this world has to follow the rules of this world, and you are breaking one of those very rules.”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“oh, which one?”

“A person with a spatial attribute cannot possess a light attribute, but you can clearly use the light attribute.”

“Yes, but it should not be strange for you, as even you possess darkness attribute even with the spatial attribute.”

The match stopped for a moment. The tension in the atmosphere had just increased.

“Yes, but the surprising thing is you challenged me to this match even after knowing, did you not care about the high elves that had just died, and did you really think I had no chance to win this game?”

“No, not at all, like I said before I really like to make gambles, knowing you entered our kingdom with ill intentions what could be the worst thing that you could do? Take my life? And I just allowed you to do so.”

Was it really a gamble? OR did he see through my plans? I could not figure it out, but whatever it was, it made things more interesting

“Take your life? There are even other things I could ask for like you care for your daughter, don’t you? What if I asked for her life instead? Would you be able to kill her?”

The elf king paused for a moment but the while continuing the game he answered, “You get a chance, a chance to kill me, or even make me destroy the entire kingdom, yet if you use that chance to make me feel a little sorrow for a little moment, that would be really foolish wouldn’t it.”

“Foolish? Of course, not? I wondered ever since I saw your daughter, why would an elf that lived for such a long time have such a young daughter, could it be after all those years, he finally found someone, someone to love, someone to share his feelings with, yet there a no mention of a queen, could it be she died? Something happened after childbirth?  And now the only thing you have left that reminds you of her is your own daughter, now there could be an entirely different reason for the princess to be so young, but I am also a gambler you see, I could gamble that my theory is correct. I wonder how you would feel, having to kill your own daughter, I bet it won’t just be a moment of sorrow ”, I said that with a gentle smile on my face.

Unlike my expectations, the king simply smiled and replied, “How interesting, you want to trap me in an everlasting life of despair, but for some reason, I don’t think that’s the thing you are going to ask if you win.”

“You sound like you understand what kind of man I am, but if your judgment becomes wrong, it won’t be only you who will pay the price, a situation may even arise when your entire kingdom needs to pay the price for your misjudgment, Well that is if I win, so what are you planning to do, if I lose the match.”

“What am I planning? It does not matter what I plan, after all. The one in front of me is just a replica, so there would be no point in capturing you.”

He was able to see I was a replica. When was it that he figured out? Did he find out about the things I did before? Did he see through my plans? Many questions came into my mind, but the answer was still unknown.
