Chapter 1

A long time ago and far, far away, a great war spanned many galaxies and the multitude of races living within. The winning side, which was also virtuous, sent out ships across the universe to help societies advance and protect themselves in case the evil empire or any other evil regime should surface - we were one of those societies. For time unknown the ships sailed through the stars and even now little is known of our virtuous benefactors.

When the starship arrived over our planet of Wa’ab, it stopped next to the planet’s moon, Rumung. The colossal vessel anchored itself to the small moon with tendrils so thick they were visible to the naked eye. Most of the denizens didn’t know what to think. As the two satellites, one natural and one artificial spun around the planet, the ship periodically shot out projectiles onto the planet’s surface. It was a frightening sight for the people of the world. Panic ensued and many feared the world was at its end.

At the time, we were a people divided even more than now. The major population centers around the globe were in the infant stages of steam power, while the rest were still embroiled in a more medieval mindset. Wa’ab was always a harsh planet full of dangerous creatures reaching from the upper boundaries of the stratosphere to the depths below its crust. The technology of the planet was slow to increase because of the robust magical saturation that the people and other creatures were able to manipulate, much of which is opposite to our current situation.

Luckily, the large black spherical projectiles did not destroy anything as the population who witnessed the quickly approaching objects first feared. Before impact, they all slowed and set down peacefully in different locations across the globe. While we would later learn that the spheres come in numerous sizes, the spheres that landed close to population centers loomed over nearly everything in the area. Although intimidating, it was not long before the curious nature of humans quickly usurped their fear - but the majority of the fear did not actually pass until it was discovered that the spheres brought gifts unto the world.

Unbeknownst to the majority of the world, the first person to touch one of the spheres was a young woman who had been walking home from a hard day of labor when one of the spheres set down nearly on top of her. She had been stunned as if shot down from the sky. The sphere’s landing had pushed up dirt and debris all around its base due to its massive size. The woman was unable to run out of fear and was then thrown to the ground from the shifting of earth. As the dust settled and she was done coughing from the cloud that invaded her lungs, she found that she was within an arm’s reach of the metallic globe.

The sphere seemed to call to her as she gazed into the shiny surface.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Touch me! Reach out and receive my gift!

Slowly and tentatively, she reached forward. The moment her hand touched the sphere an electric shock ran down her arm and she gasped in surprise. It was not a painful shock; it was just enough to keep her from ending the touch. As the contact continued, her eyes lit up as words appeared on the surface of the shiny sphere.

Congratulations!

You are the first on your planet to receive your own robot. The robot is a gift from the Girdig Alliance of Free Systems. We hope this will help you in all aspects of your life. In the event of an invasion from the Empire of the Black Hole, we hope it will assist in the safety and security of your planet. Treat your robot well and help it increase its power, and the robot will repay the favor.

All further instructions and information are included with your robot. May you bring everlasting glory to the Alliance!

While the words flitted in front of the woman’s eyes, a more amazing sight was happening around her. A line of blue-white light lit up in an arch surrounding the spot she was touching. The lines increased in thickness and brightness until the entire area was glowing. As if emerging from nothing, an object, materializing in front of her hand, slowly pushed the woman back. Then, all at once, the light flashed brighter than ever before going dark.

Resting on the ground in front of the woman was a piece of metal shaped like an egg with the top shorn off. The top of the metal egg began to glow in the same bluish light that lit up when it emerged from the sphere. The light sent shadows across the woman’s face as she bent down to peer into it. Her dark eyes flitted back and forth as she read, then she reached down and touched the metal egg.

Decree of the Ha’olean Solar Branch as seen and heard through all sources of communication and across DV viewers worldwide.

People of the planet, please do not be afraid. The additional Starship you see above the planet is here at the behest of the Girdig Alliance of Free Systems.

We, The Ha’olean Solar Branch, were sent by the Alliance to ensure that the gifts previously bestowed upon your persons have been utilized fairly and judiciously. We have been ordered to oversee the proper functioning of your planet, so it can one day be included in the Alliance.

Soon, our emissaries will be sent down across the globe to liaise with the planet-wide leaders on the rules that must be followed for proper induction. Please be advised that allowing the Emissaries of the Alliance into your continents, countries, and homes is a purely voluntary choice.

However, choosing to forego this great honor will cause a loss of all the benefits offered by the Girdig Alliance of Free Systems and the Ha’olean Solar Branch. These benefits include the vast array of knowledge on proper robot compatibility, growth, and additional benefits. Furthermore, whoever chooses this path will be labeled an enemy of the Alliance and harbinger of the Empire of the Black Hole.

We, as the great emissaries of your planet, only wish to help you grow and succeed. We fervently hope that you can be counted among the multitude of worlds in the Alliance as soon as possible.

As our emissaries make their way down to the planet’s surface, we ask that you disable all anti-aircraft munitions and do not act aggressively toward the dropships. After we meet with your leaders, a set of new decrees that need to be followed will be disseminated. All citizens must follow these rules for inclusion in the Girdig Alliance of Free Systems.

We look forward to working with your people to bring peace to the planet, and for the glory of the Girdig Alliance of Free Systems.

Many Worlds, One People, Always Free!
