On the planet of Wa’ab, those over sixteen can present themselves to one of the Giant Orbs traveling the planet and receive their own companion robot. Matt Gearwon has been sixteen for over six months. He missed his last chance and is about to miss it again for six more. He lives with his father in a small cottage on a plot of land in the middle of nowhere. He won’t miss his chance again, no matter what it takes. However, getting his robot exposes problems and secrets, he didn’t know existed. His once quiet life becomes an enigma of survivability, but with his robot, he might have the tools to solve it.
