0.000 Revelations; Deliverance
In a country on the planet Earth. In a room filled with chaos, a piece of wasted space or more accurately a half-bred between human and wasted space, sat in front of a now older model, high-end computer monitor. The creature was staring at the multiple stacks of open browser tabs. The never updating RSS list entries, the badly written fan-fictions and the abyss that is facebook were staring back at him from the depths of the Internet.
On the right of the radiant box lay darkness. Looking through the window made obvious the sun had set several hours ago. Currently it was the middle of the night. Countless distant lights in the variously sized buildings were mimicking the constellations of the clear summer sky.
The world was dying. People falling asleep. Fossil fuels running out. The stars on the ground growing dim. Increasingly severe weather. The car engines shutting down for the night. Governments brewing wars behind closed doors. Nightlife pedestrians disappearing off the streets.
A pessimist would say it’s just a matter of time before everything stops. An optimist would sound like an idealist, a dreamer, and more often than not, like a crazy person. The third type, claiming to be realists have been taken over by hypocrites. Preaching human rights while suppressing the very same people who put them in power.
The minutes were rolling past. The digital clock marked the beginning of a new hour. It was four in the morning. Several seconds after that the male creature showed signs of life. Moving its hand from the keyboard to the mouse, changing the tab. He had ran out of chapters again. ‘The translators update so slowly during the summer’ he probably thought.
The text on the monitor was substituted by the site of the popular social network. The name next to the not really ugly profile picture bore witness the owner of this profile was probably someone named Alexander Eleazar.
Alexander was the type that hates endings. On the other hand he loved beginnings, especially new beginnings. He was quite tall person, usually soaring above the crowd with his 6 and a third feet or using the standard system for measurements it would be around hundred and ninety five centimeters. With strong and healthy nearly black hair, normal looks, big eyes and dark skin he was definitely not prince charming, but definitely not ugly either. In the past with not much effort he somehow had even managed to get a girlfriend. A relationship that lasted for two years and ended for reasons Alexander would maybe never understand.
There were no new notifications on his profile page. He minimized the browser window causing the dark wallpaper on his desktop to come to the foreground, lowering the light emission of the monitor and dimming down the ambience of the room. He looked through the window at the city outside. Still thinking of the last chapter of the novel he was reading earlier his thoughts slowly shifting to all novels he has ever read. To everything he has ever seen on the Internet, to contacts he has made there, to people who he has met face to face and his ex girlfriend. As soon as the memory of the girl popped out in his head the look he was giving the world became slightly more apathetic. Closing his eyes and his thoughts started shifting again, with the usual pattern of ex girlfriend followed by the favorite female anime character of all time. While thinking of his beloved goddess and her gang of quirky brigade members he blanked out for a moment.
I nearly fell asleep again. It’s happening more often recently. Before I turned twenty three nothing like this has ever happened… Before, when I need sleep, I’d just feel sleepy, now, instead of feeling tired I directly doze off. Not fun! Must not forget to breathe! Breathe, dude, breathe! *huff* *huff* Ok that’s enough breathing for today. *yawn* I should go “out there“ again. Hunt for sexy tall girls, talk to people… Anything new? I checked the RSS feeds one last time.
Right before completely dozing off again, I had the feeling a paradigm shifting thought crossing my mind, but in retrospect I’ve had already fallen asleep by then. Unknown amount of time later I roused from what I think has been the most thorough rest I’ve had in the last three years.

I was still sitting in the same uncomfortable chair and feeling a bit languorous, but there was no desk, no computer, no slightly dirty room full of chaos. Life was slowly coming back to the world. With the sound of a thin glass membrane shattering somewhere in the distance, movement came back to the word. Wind followed and the tree leafs, the bushes and the tall weeds rustled at the morning breeze. Somewhere beyond the horizon fierce celestial ball of fire was spewing light, brightening up the part of the firmament above the horizon.
It was very early morning in what looked like a local city park. The abundant amounts of fresh air certainly matched well logically with the the time the majority of the populace would be asleep. But how did I get here? Last time I checked I haven’t installed any sleepwalking software in my head. Not to mention even if I had, I’m very positive they wouldn’t support chairs. I mean even my desk chair is here, wherever ‘here’ is!
Bird calls began sounding, pleasantly, around me. My mental facilities were finally fully operational. Get out of bed, turn on the pc, visit the bathroom. Is what I would usually do I guess. I tried checking my phone, luckily it was still in my pocket. Things are looking stranger and stranger. The digital clock let me know the time was five ten in the morning. While looking at the display something bothered me, but maybe my mental facilities weren’t as operational as I wanted to think they were. After several seconds of intense staring down contest with my phone, a severe, extremely deep frown painted my forehead.
Unibrow was born. There was no media coverage. There was no coverage at all!
At the same time I felt something warm wash over every part of my skin. The grass hadn’t moved, this startled me even more than I already was. I tried operating the GPS app, but… it wasn’t updating. I powered down the phone and removed the battery. While waiting for the capacitors to empty just in case of a severe case of software bug going hardware, I looked around. ‘How did I even get here’ is what I thought.
The moment I put the battery back in and held the power on button, for the second time, I heard the thin glass shattering sound. This time softer than the first. A third even softer followed right after. Maybe there was a fourth time. I’m not certain, because at the same moment my phone played the welcoming theme someone turned the world volume knob up a notch. Is this the feeling one gets when a beautiful picture in front of them becomes reality?
The GPS still wasn’t responding.
Second heat wave washed over me. Am I starting to panic? Yes I definitely am starting to panic a bit. Taking a deep breath I calmed down a little. The weather was warm.
There are two paths I can take right now. First is to find a tall place and get at least a rough idea of the surrounding area and the other would be to find myself some water in case ‘here’ is the middle of nowhere and someone forcefully volunteered me for an unplanned survival game. Since its not even dawn yet and not that hot either I went for the tall places plan. The trees looked hard to climb. Finding water might be easier that way too.
The moment all my weight was fully distributed on my legs a third wave of warmth washed over me. A snapping sound followed it. Like a dam giving in, an awareness of perception of a new sense suddenly appeared. I froze on the spot. For a moment nothing was making sense. The air, the light, the smell, the sound, everything was new. Yet somehow familiar. After a moment that continued for an eternity like an illusion being dispelled, everything was apparently back to normal. Almost everything. My body still felt completely brand new! So refreshing!
At that time I officially joined the F5 Sect.
Such a refreshing feeling. It is like I was just born anew! Spending a few minutes just touching my skin and marveling at the feeling of spring coming off of me. Then relieving my bladder at a nearby bush. And headed forward with the light source below the horizon at my back.
‘Is this Judgment day? Is this my kingdom come?’
