Chapter 72- Tier 2 System Access

Chapter 72- Tier 2 System Access

Host Arthur Ward has broken one of the primary tenants of system law. Prepare to face the consequences.

The first thing Arthur noticed was how different the system notification looked from the standard blue message he had gotten used to. It was still blue but the message seemed stronger? Arthur wasn't sure if that was the best way to describe it. It seemed more real like it now existed on a closer plane of reality instead of the former ephemerality it held.

I'm just confusing myself here, but the messages definitely look different.

Before he could get to why that was the case- though he already suspected he knew the answer- he needed to go through a LOT of notifications, primary amongst them the warning he'd just been given.

As you have used unstructured magic prior to achieving a suitable level and gaining Tier Two System access, foregoing proper precautionary procedure, it has been deemed fit that host Arthur Ward should be exiled from the system.

Oh shit. I fucked up.

Before Arthur could panic further, he read the next notification and felt a wave of relief wash over him. The fact that he was still receiving system notifications was indicative that he hadn't truly been kicked out yet, but it had still quite nearly given him a heart attack.

Error...

Host is in the process of gaining Tier Two System access...

Time Remaining- 7 Hours 22 Minutes

Calling System Administer AI 90886-BvJvSSR to judge case...

Please Stand by...

Those messages, according to Arthur's system logs had been delivered thirteen hours ago, meaning that Arthur had been unconscious for at least that long since Shade's fight. Hopefully, the fact he was reading these messages meant the administrator had judged in his favour. He knew that battling the misuse of unstructured magic was allegedly the primary reason the system was created in the first place, but still, he'd hardly call what he'd done unstructured magic.

At worst, it was a very liberal application of structured magic, nothing more, which did technically fit the bill but only very loosely. It is the first step down the slippery slope I guess but what I did wasn't really hazardous to anyone but myself. Things should be okay. Taking a deep breath, Arthur read the next notification. It was dated four minutes after the last, very fast judging if he did say so himself.

Due to the special circumstances surrounding host Arthur Ward, it has been judged that his exile is withheld. Nonetheless, this transgression will be marked down on your file to be reviewed in the event of future cases...

The system acknowledges your efforts to bring stability to your unstructured spell and so your error shall be overlooked, for now. It shall not happen again. You have been warned, host Arthur Ward...

Tier Two system Unlock has been Accelerated...

Congratulations, Arthur Ward. You have been granted tier-two system access...

This Boon comes with numerous benefits, primary amongst them being your ability to now practice unstructured magic without facing reparations. This perk does have limitations...

Unlocking Tier Two system access allows you to view your status page in a more universal format as well as compare your relative ability to judge your ability on higher tier worlds...

Note: The Universal standard assigns grades to Attribute totals, utilised across the cosmos and generally recognised as an accurate judge of a classer's ability.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

F Grade- This is the grading given to someone who has between 125 and 200 stats in a single attribute. For example, a classer with F rank strength has comparable strength to an adolescent goblin on a tier two world.

E Grade- This is the grading given to someone who has between 200 and 400 stats in a single attribute. For example, a classer with E grade strength has strength comparable to a hobgoblin on a tier two world.

The grades were quite simple and didn't follow a linear path of progression with D-Grade being between 401 and 1000, C-Grade between 1001 and 1500, B-Grade between 1501 and 3000 and A grade between 3001 and 5000. That left the extremely rare S-Grade, awarded to single attribute totals exceeding 5000, a nigh impossible feat for most people.

Most people the system informed, peaked with one or two attributes at C-Grade. B-Grade attributes made you a powerhouse and A-Grade a prodigy amongst prodigies. S-Grade was legendary.

Already, Arthur had most of his stats firmly into the E-grade with a few pushing into D. That was without looking at the gains his most recent fight had brought him and he wasn't yet even a classer. Heck, at this rate, he might just pull off an S-Grade attribute one day.

Before he could get to his juicy Stat page, however, he had a number of notifications to get through, first and foremost the levels he'd gained for beating Shade. Thankfully, it hadn't pushed him too far, though he would have to be more careful in the future to stop accruing so many levels.

You have reached level 61...

You have reached level 62...

You have reached level 63…

You have reached level 71...

You have 266 unspent stat points...

That wasn't too bad. 11 levels from killing Shade, a monster over level 130.

His attack, whilst no doubt devastating had struck an already wounded Shade which meant that the experience gained would've been split between six of them. Five Arthur reminded himself bitterly, remembering that Selena was no longer with them. He decided he needed to go see how the death would affect Tamo Tatsumi, especially when the man had lost his sister’s whereabouts not so long ago.

Arthur hoped that the blood mage didn’t decide to blame him for his friend's death. Thankfully, as Arthur had predicted, he didn’t level too much from killing the crazed ghoul. Hiss self-imposed restrictions still hadn’t been broken. 11 levels were not too bad a result Arthur consoled himself. He still had 29 levels before he reached level hundred and unlocked his class, which gave him plenty of time to make sure he had done as much as he could to unlock a powerful class.

Arthur wanted the foundations of his strength to be as stable as possible and taking slow but steady steps was the best way to go about achieving that particular goal. There were only two notifications left to go to and Arthur hoped that they contained as much good news as this one had.

He wasn’t disappointed.

Due to your dangerous use of unstructured magic, the skill water bullet (Uncommn+) has evolved.

Water bullet (Uncommon+)---> Molecular Water Shot (Elite) level 1- Form bullets of water ranging in size from as large as boulders to as tiny as the grouped molecules that make up the liquid. Molecular Water Shot possesses a piercing ability that bypasses a portion of the target's natural defence, both physical and magical.

Cost: Variable

Damage: Variable

Arthur whistled when he read the abilities description. The skill somehow evolved from Uncommon to Elite, completely missing out on Rare. The evolution made molecular water bullet his new strongest skill and helped explain to Arthur a little of what he must have done when using unstructured magic. This must have been what the system had meant when it said that it acknowledged his efforts to bring stability to the magic he had cast.

Arthur must have subconsciously based his spell on the skill he had acquired from the water-claw kingfisher which had forced the ability to evolve and grow in a linear direction. Whatever the case was, Arthur wouldn’t be complaining about the unexpected boon and so with high spirits, he checked his last notification. Arthur had conflicting feelings when he read it. He was grateful for the way it would increase his survivability but also frustrated with himself that he had allowed his rage to almost kill him. Arthur's reckless usage of magic had netted him a new title, and quite a potent one at that.

You have acquired a new title: Paid in blood (Use 80% of your health to cast an unstructured spell whilst below level 100) Increases vitality by 30%. Makes the use of health in future spells much easier. Effects natural progression of skills

He was happy but a little conflicted. Arthur let out a weary sigh. Whilst a 30% increase in his vitality attribute would be an incredible boon, especially with his complimentary twice-lived title, the fact that Arthur had lost 80%of his health to get it didn’t sit right with him. He should by all rights be dead after losing so much health just after having his arm got destroyed and it was no doubt thanks to the administrations of his team members that he was even still alive.

His recklessness had once again almost killed him and the reward he had received for his recklessness did not make his actions palatable. Arthur would never succeed in anything if he let his emotions rule him instead of his analytical brain and that was a lesson Arthur needed to learn soon, as he’d be too dead to benefit from the teachings.

Thankfully, all was not lost and he had one more Title to check out.
