“Yes, yes, your son is a reincarnated soul. I have no doubt. Will you stay silent any longer, little elf? »
I was barely a year old and my secret had already been revealed. Shouldn't the protagonist be able to keep his identity secret until the end. But this old tree, had just unmasked me in a few minutes. I had two choices. I could pretend to be confused and not understand what he just said. After all, a reincarnated person wasn't supposed to keep their memories. Was it different in this world? I was going to have to rethink my classics. Second possibility, I revealed everything, and ran the risk that my mother would no longer see me in the same way. I was terrified of losing my new family, even this idiot father. So I made a decision.
“I was 17 when someone murdered me. I say in my child's voice
Silence ensued. I was shaking in my father's arms. It was over, it was all over. They were going to abandon me too. Like her.
Then I felt arms wrap around me. My cheeks were wet, and I realized that my mother was crying.
“My poor baby. My poor little elf. I would never have wished that for you. she whispered
I shivered and felt the tears come to my eyes, but I refrained from letting them fall.
"You're not going to leave me? I asked timidly.
My mother pulled back and looked at me with an outraged expression.
" Of course not ! I carried you for 24 months in my womb, you are my son! »

So that was a mother's love. But my thoughts were derailed by something she had just said. 24 months? A pregnancy lasted 24 months for an elf. A human was already going crazy after 9 months, but she had carried me 15 more months. I didn't know what to think about it.
I was relieved that my mother took the truth so well, but I hadn't heard my father speak. I slowly turned, looked at him, then resumed my original position. I turned again. It was so strange to see such a terrifying elf crying hot tears with snot hanging from his nostrils. Aren't you supposed to be an all-powerful duke. You cry more than your wife, I thought. This guy, really loved his family, I thought smiling.
I met my mother's gaze, who laughed. I followed her a few seconds later. I really had a family.
My laughter gave way to tears, but the smile did not disappear.
“I don't want to interrupt this emotional moment. But didn't you come to me for a reason. I don't want to waste what little energy I have left. »
“I need a name. " I said
"Ah, but don't you already have one? he said
I see on a piece of cardboard, a first name written in indelible marker. I had hated its meaning, but every year I pulled it out of my bag. The day I was found had ironically become my birthday. That day I traced the letters of my name with my fingertips, hoping that maybe one day someone would give me an answer. The cardboard disappeared, but the letters lit up before my eyes. I was not dreaming. A light escaped from the tree like luminous dust and the letters appeared. I did not suffer while looking at them, but on the contrary, a force sprang up in me and the word escaped my lips.
“Taylor, my name is Taylor. »
“Eteryddyn welcomes you, Taylor. May your path be full of adventure, courage and passion. »
The light suddenly disappeared from the tree, only Arala and Aran illuminating it. He had fallen asleep again.
“There will be no other surprises I hope. Elanore said before sighing. Liamon are you still crying? »
"But, but it's so sad! »
"I can't believe this is the man they call The Soul Eater Elf. »
So he really had a past that looks like his face. I listened distractedly to my parents talking.
I had never had anything that belonged entirely to me, a mother who loved me, a father I could make proud of, brothers and sisters to heckle with. I was dead and fate had decided otherwise. I was going to do everything in my power to protect those who were dear to me. For I was no longer Taylor the orphan, but Taylor Woodskin fifth son of the Duke of Woodskin and first son of Elanore.
