The sound of the burning building they are in has started to sound off in the couples’ ears. Today was supposed to be a happy and glorious day. They were finally married after a year of being apart. Family intervention and love rivals alike constantly butted in and tried to separate them, but they managed to persevere, having a small ceremony, and tying the knot. But who would have foreseen that a vengeful admirer would set their home ablaze and trap them inside.
“Don’t worry dear, I’m sure the fire department is on their way as we speak.” The wife was trying to comfort her husband who was pinned beneath a fallen section of fallen roof.
“It’s no use, you must try and find a way out. The fire is spreading and if you wait any longer, then you could be injured or even trapped here with me. I don’t want to see you hurt” The husband urged his wife. He couldn’t feel his legs since the roof fell on him, he knew he would only drag her down, if she tried to pull him out, so he decided to convince her to leave without him,
“NO! We have gone through too much together to be separated now. Either we both leave or neither one of us leaves.” The woman snapped, she knew that she couldn’t live without him, and if she did eventually get out, the guilt would kill her before anything else could.
Crash.
The woman thought for a second and then made up her mind, she leaned down and embraced her stuck husband.
“We took a vow that we would be together until death does us apart, but I’m not satisfied with that anymore. I want to make a new one…”
“ What do you mean?” The husband started to cough, and splotches of red covered his shirt.
“I want to be together even after death, if there’s an afterlife, then we’ll be together there as well, if we reincarnate, we’ll just find each other all over again. I refuse to be apart from you” Tears started to form in her eyes. Seeing her husband’s breath grow fainter and fainter by the minute.
“ I... vow… to be with …. forever, with not even death separating us.” The husband coughed; it was getting harder to breathe. He knew he wouldn’t be around much longer.
“ I... vow… to be with …... forever, with not even death separating us.” The wife choked back tears as she uttered these words. Her husband has breathed his last. The woman made up her mind. Laying down next to the man and grasping his hand tightly. We will be together again soon….
“Oh Elanna, there seems to be a couple of weird souls mixed in here.” A deep rough voice called out. He was Aurelious, the god of reincarnation. Elanna his wife was the goddess of creation and responsible for the creation of all souls in the world of Elodia.
“Are you saying my soul-making skills are bad?” Aurelious turned red, he would never be saying anything like that, especially to his wife. Elanna smiled.
“I’m just teasing you, what do you mean these souls are weird. They seem like human souls to me.“ Elanna raised her eyebrow, looking at the souls once more.
“Oh, I see what you mean, they are indeed human souls, but I didn’t make them. I wonder where they came from. Let’s look at their memories and see who or what they were.”
As she said that, Aurelious raised his hand and a screen like a projection started to play the memories of the two souls. From the day they were born, to meeting in high school, to their family separating them. All the way to their wedding day, which was also their last.

“Honey, these two aren’t from our world, could there have been a mix up somewhere? You know at the last divine summit, reports of other gods getting lazy and not properly doing their job correctly have started to become more prevalent.” Elanna closed her eyes, seemingly in deep thought.
“We can worry about where they came from later, we should figure out what to do with them now.” Aurelious looked at the two souls in front of him with pity. To be killed on their wedding day was especially tragic, but it wasn’t the first time he has seen something like this. Humans are cruel beings, a trait that most gods look down upon.
Not that the gods were any better, but most looked for any reason they could to look down upon the races below them.
“Should we just put them in the reincarnation pool? They’ll be reincarnated in the future, but who knows how long it will take, or whether they will even be reincarnated together.” Elanna looked at her husband, she was responsible for the creation of the souls, but the actual reincarnation fell to her husband.
“Doesn’t it feel wrong to separate them like this? Maybe we should do a little more. I know we aren’t responsible for it and Fate will bicker with us for a long time, but now that we have seen their story, it reminds me of our own romance.” She added on, hoping to urge her husband to do a little more than toss them into the pool and forget them.
“How does this remind you of our story, I am clearly 100 times more attractive than that man, and besides you know interfering here will have a cost, but I’m not sure they will be willing to pay it.” Aurelious looked at his wife. It was recently their wedding anniversary as well, and he was in a good mood, but he knew the severity of messing with something like this.
“Then let’s just ask one of them. I’m willing to bet dinner tonight that one of them will agree.” Elanna looked at the male soul in anticipation. He struck her as the type to do anything for love.
“Fine, we’ll ask but if neither one of them say yes, then you’ll be cooking dinner for the next eon.”
“Deal”
With that confirmation, Elanna waves her hand and the image of a man showed up. He was the same one from the burning building.
“Where am I, where is …. ? Am I dead, did she make it out?” The man looked around in a hurry, hoping to see his wife and confirm her safety.
“Greetings …. , I am the God of Reincarnation. You and your wife have accidentally been sent to our world’s reincarnation. Now normally we would just send you through and be on with our business, but we were feeling particularly happy and decided to offer you a choice.” Aurelious looked at the human with a piercing gaze. He doesn’t know why his wife would suggests something like this, this man may not accept.
“ We are willing to bend fate to tie you two together and have you reincarnated at the same time. This will allow you to find each other again in your life, but …”
“I accept!” The man yelled without a moment’s hesitation. Anything that would allow him to see … again is worth it. No matter the cost.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH” Elanna busted out laughing, unable to contain her joy anymore. This human was certainly interesting. Most people would at least hear out the negatives, but he just accepted it without any further information.
“Wait Human let me finish. As I was saying, the price of this rule bending is twofold. One, you two will be separated and reincarnated into different areas. This is a safety precaution as Fate will be looking to find you two and sever the bond. The second one is the inability to use magic in your new life. Effectively making you cursed your whole life.” Aurelious looked grim, he knew the importance of magic in this world, everything from magic tools to Academies that prided themselves on their magical aptitude.
“It’s fine, I will find her no matter what it takes me.” The man looked resolute.
“So be it. I wish you luck” With that Aurelious threw the two souls into the pond. Tying them together with a red string. This will cement their bond and forever tie their souls together.
“Do you think he will be able to do it?” Elanna asked quietly, she knew that this would be a long journey, which may never succeed. Her creations have become too reliant on magic, and their entire life revolves around it. With the man unable to use it himself, he is bound to face numerous obstacles.
“Don’t worry, I knew you would worry about this, so I added something else to his soul as I threw it in the pool. If he can manage to use it correctly, he wouldn’t need magic even if he could use it.” Aurelious looked at his worrying wife. He didn’t like it when she was sad, so he added an extra precaution. He was working on a new prototype system for a hobby of his, but he felt that the man would need it more than anything else, so he was willing to part with it for now. If it would make his wife happy then anything would be worth the cost.
With his path set. A story about one man’s quest to see his wife again has officially begun.
