A young adult with black hair and brown eyes was searching through the isles of the grocery store with a cart in tow.

"come on i know it will be here" He muttered to himself while searching through the shelves of the candy isle. "aha there it is!" He exclaimed while placing 5 chocolate bars bold printed with "Emmer's delicacy". 'A weird name but it taste amazing' He thought inwardly while walking through the supermarket.

Reaching the counter, he spotted his parents with their own cart in tow. "Got everything you needed honey?" she said in a cheerful yet bland tone. "I hope you don't finish your snacks too quickly".

"Yeah mom, got everything" Rian replied giving the two carts of groceries they brought to the cashier."Even if he does eat all his snacks he won't be getting more until next month. The financials are a bit tight this month," retorted my dad while grumbling the last bit. The cashier maybe sensing the gloomy atmosphere said to my dad "that will be $231 sir, would you like to do card or cash?" he told in a dull, robotic voice.

Paying everything with cash my dad went to pick up the car while I walked in in the back with my mother to the parking lot with me handling the grocery bags.

Quickly putting in the groceries inside the car and  I sat in the backseat while my parents were at the front. My dad started the car and we were on the road.

"You cannot be buying all the excess stuff you do this time or it will be hard to stay afloat," the man at the wheels said worryingly. The boy at the backseat not wanting to hear the ranting put on some earphones, blurring all the background noise and listening to his playlists.

'Ugh tomorrow is Monday, i really don't want to go to school tomorrow. Its the same shit all over again.' Rian thought inwardly. 'At this point a zombie apocalypse would be wayyy better. I hope something interesting happens soon or I may as well sleep'.

20mins later,

The car parked in a familiar garage and out from the backseat came Rian with his newly acquired stash of snacks, beaming towards his room in the first floor lest his dad tells him to help with the groceries, he wanted a nice sleep. Going inside the room he closed the door and jumped on the bed, placing his phone at his right and entering Morpheus's realm.

?? time later,

"ugh... what the fuck?!" waking up in a bright white light trying to seep into your eyes under substance akin to concrete instead of your bed was to say a pretty shitty experience. "where am I?," finally looking around the place I felt a chill in my spine.

Around me were people of different races and gender with some sleeping like me, a few eyeing and determining their situation while most having a breakdown. 'Is this actually happening?!' excitement and fear course through my veins hitting my head like a sledgehammer. Now while i just woke up, i have been an avid reader of light novels, from singular masterpieces to trashy fanfics, i have read an entire library worth of books to guess the situation I'm in right now. 

i eye the people around me thinking to myself what i could do if this is what i think it is.' After wishing almost everyday to just get a glimpse of what characters in novels go through this maybe finally happening to me' I brainstorm various scenarios in my head. By now almost everyone was awake and scrutinizing their situation.

"HELLLLOOO PEOPLE!" An ear piercing greeting echoed around the vast expanse of never ending space. Looking up everyone gets a look of the culprit, a black blob with comical wings and a mouth with glistening white canines.

My breath got held as goosebumps spread across my body. But the nest sentence told by the blob makes me give out an unnatural grin across my face. "I Welcome you challengers to... THE TOWER OF TRIALS!"

 Ariel and George were simple people with a lovely son who for a few years may have a addiction to novels with questionable moral standards, but they were still a happy family who got along perfectly fine with each other. Their son Rian was apparently tired from their grocery excursion so Ariel assumed that he would be skipping dinner and so did not disturb him. 

In the morning, Ariel finished preparing breakfast for her family and then went to call Rian while George turned on the TV. "Rian! breakfast is ready," There was no response from the room. Curious, Ariel went inside the room to find a messed up bed with her son's phone on it and this really unsettled her now. 'He never leaves without his phone'.

ariel went down the stairs to inquire about their son when she saw George fixated on the TV. She looked at the breaking news and now the panic started flooding in.

"Good morning folks, this is an emergency breaking news. At approximately 5:00 am, Seven sky piercing towers got erected on the seven continents along with reports of mysterious disappearance coming in all morning with a estimate of around 7.2 million people around the globe. There seems to be a barrier shrouding the towers and the people who are missing nowhere to be found.," A male reporter with blond hair was reporting the situation near one of the towers in Canada with a faux grave expression as if to show the gravity of the situation. "The military has been dispatched and there has been no further statements from the government. We will keep on updating you to the latest news so stay tuned." 

The news playing on Ariel's phone now instead of the TV with both of them going to the station to report their missing son. "It will be alright Ariel, I'm sure the military would find our son soon." George tries to placate a sobbing Ariel with his faux confidence while driving recklessly to the police station. "HOW CAN YOU BE SURE THAT OUR SON IS FINE?!" Ariel bursts with sobbing in between when a blue screen with a black blob on it appears in front of their eyes with George nearly losing the control of the wheel but barely managing to stop the car in a relatively safe spot on the street.

The blob with a devilish smile starts the show "HELLLLOOO PEOPLE!I Welcome you challengers to... THE TOWER OF TRIALS! ".
