It wasn't Feng Long frantically digging hands that emerged him from the snow but the sound of another roar that caused those raised peaks of snow slowly started to flatten out which allowed him to emerge from those 'hills' of snow. It took him a while to find his footing. His legs continually burying themselves in that loose snow beneath him.
That flimsy amulet that was buried under a pile of snow, would remain there. Hidden away for the time being. While Feng Long eventually got over his frustration of the missing status window, he reluctantly decided to start making his way towards the sound of roaring.
He tread through the snow, loose snow scattered everywhere thanks to the constant roaring in the distance. It wasn't like he had anywhere better to go. With little to no protection from the cold Feng Long knew he'd be in serious trouble once it got dark. He reasoned that could delay setting up camp by an hour. An hour would be enough to satisfy his curiosity and after that he could start gathering wood for a fire. It would probably take him the better part of the night to get a fire started. If he could get a fire started.
Feng Long had no illusion about what would happen if he didn't get a fire started. He knew he'd be nothing but a corpse buried under snow.
As he made his way through the forest, stepping through the loose snow, he got a much better sense of what was safe to step into and what would sink him into the snow. Not long after that his pace started to pick up. Though it was hard not to notice the rush of critters that were headed in the opposite direction. A stampede of deer's, dashing and jumping rabbits, even the birds in their cawed and squealed as they flew away from the source of the roaring.
Out of all the thousands of places that Feng Long could have landed, the Goddess could never have imagined where Feng Long would end up. In comparison to some unfortunate Heroes, who ended up in the lion's den and fought wave after wave of demons while under leveled and lacking their gifts, Feng Long was certainly in a better place compared to those poor souls.
But where he was just wasn't any better. He wasn't anywhere near those 'safe' territories. Territories devoid of fighting and demons. No. Even if he'd been thrust into the middle of a battlefield it still would have been better than the place that Feng Long ended up.
Then again there was simply no way that the Goddess could have known where he'd ended up. The Goddess couldn't just arbitrarily check in on her 'heroes' either. The only time they could interact with the heroes was through the various temples across Avalon, and when the heroes completed the quests they'd been given. So there was no way for the Goddess to know that Feng Long had ended up in a place even a Goddess like her would be hesitant to enter.
He kept making his way through the snow, through that thicket of leaves and branches as the forest condescend, before Feng Long suddenly found himself entering into an inexplicable clearing as the beating of snow across his face came to an abrupt end.
As he stepped into the clearing the ground beneath his feet wasn't compacted snow but burned and scorched ground. In front of him that thicket of tree's had been burned to a crisp with nothing but the stumps left.. though obscured by ash. The floor was utterly littered with burnt corpses. The corpses were utterly unrecognizable, only charred bone, but from that alone he could gleam that some of the corpses were anything other than human.
But the scorched floor, littered with corpses, was hardly the thing to focus on. Feng Long had his gaze pointed up, towards the sky. Where two impossibly large creatures were currently locked together, spitting flames, their large wings extended and swaying as the beasts continued to attack without care. One was pure black with red eyes. The other white with blue eyes. Two dragons.
Feng Long stepped back, out of the open clearing, huddling behind a tree nearest to the clearing and easing down so that he wasn't in clear view. His eyes focused on the sight before him before he watched a stray blast of fire, from the black dragon, shoot out as that blazing breath suddenly landed on an area thicket and trees. Those thick trunks, the entire patch of trees, was incinerated into nothing but ash.
His face paled, imagining what his fate would be if he was unfortunate enough to be struck by such a ferocious blast of fire. There would be nothing left of him other than a pile of ash and charred boned. Eventually his eyes tore away from the dragons, to the ashy field of bones and dead. He glanced across the various items scattered around the field. Pieces of armor and weapon were strewn about.
The armor looked mostly burned and damaged. While the weapons, no doubt from the heat of a dragon's breath, were warped beyond recognition. There were a few items that stood out though. A piece of armor that was glowing a faint blue, a black hammer that was lodged into the ground, and a white longsword that seemed to be impaling two separate skeletons
Their were other items that caught his attention.. but Feng Long didn't dare step into that clearing of death and risk being incinerated by a stray blast of fire. He knew he should have left the clearing behind, that doing anything other than leaving was a risk. But, when he was about to put distance between him and the two beasts battling in the sky, his eyes caught the glint of another weapon. It could just barely be seen. It was just on the outer edge of the clearing. No more than fifty feet.
Feng Long hesitated, for a moment, before slowly making his way out of the clearing and approaching that obscured object. He kept a wary glance towards the sky, focused on the dragons, incase any stray blasts of fire were let loose in his direction.
Forty feet.
Thirty feet.
Twenty feet.
Ten feet.
It was at ten feet that Feng Long broke into a sprint, arriving at the charred corpse, and practically stumbled as he fell down and started grabbing at the corpse. It took almost all his strength to roll that charred body over. The person was nothing more than burned flesh, charred bone. Feng Long couldn't make out any distinguishing features. But what he was focused on wasn't the dead body but the weapon in the corpses hand. A long axe with a silver-blueish head and a black handle. "I'm sorry, friend."

Feng Long grabbed the butt of the axe and pulled, only to find the axe wouldn't budge. He grabbed hold of the axe with both hands. He tugged on it harder and harder until he suddenly flew back, falling on top of another corpse, with the axe in hand.
"Haha! Yes!" He let out a triumphant shout, filled with glee, as he raised the axe in hand. Then, immediately after, his face went pale as he looked up to see that both the black and white dragon were staring at him with eyes filled with intent.
The Black Dragon's mouth opened, but what came out wasn't a roar. Whatever it was, Feng Long couldn't understand a bit of what she was saying. Nor did he care to find out. The moment he noticed the two dragons glaring at him Feng Long broke out into a sprint to the tree line. At the same time the Black Dragon stopped speaking and instead let out another roar as a large ball of fire, coated in black, was shot after the fleeing Feng Long.
"Oh no.. no no no."
Feng Long turned around to see that enormous ball of fire headed towards him. Immediately he picked up his pace, frantically running as fast as his legs would carry him. What Feng Long didn't see, as he sprinted away like a mad man, was the White Dragon flying in front of the ball of fire and using its large wings to deflect the ball of flame. All Feng Long heard was the explosion as the ball of flame hit the ground.. and even though it wasn't near him the aftershock of the blast was enough to lift him off his wave and send him flying through the air.
He flew straight into a tree. His torso slamming into the trunk and causing Feng Long to gasp for air. He tasted iron in his mouth and after slumping at the base of the tree he started to spit blood. His body having grown pale, almost alarmingly fast. He forced himself to keep moving though, axe in hand, to put as much distance between himself and the clearing. He could still hear the roaring of the two beasts, while the forest and ground continued to shake from their destructive battle.
After limping some distance away, still plunged into that thick forest, Feng Long finally slumped against the base of a tree and took a weary breath. Feng Long was surprised to still be standing. The pain from slamming into the tree had been overwhelming. He'd never felt a pain anywhere as intense as that. But, even if he'd been limping, he'd managed to walk away from it. He could hardly believe it. He could only imagine what would have happened if he'd been even a foot closer to that fireball.. let alone if the blast had hit him square on.
Eventually Feng Long managed to pull himself to his feet, after that brief respite, and cast another glance towards the clearing. A reasonable person would have headed as far away from the clearing, and the two dragons, as possible. But that wasn't what Feng Long had in mind.
Feng Long had no confidence that he'd be able to start a fire. But, in the crater from that explosion, there was bound to be a fresh fire or two. If he left and tried making a campfire only to fail then he would, no doubt, end up freezing to death. Then that 'Shitty Goddess' would have been totally justified in her evaluation of him. That thought irked him more than he cared to admit. He wasn't going to let that 'Shitty Goddess' have the satisfaction of knowing he'd died without even making it to level 1.
If we going to die. It wasn't going to be on the first day in this new world.
"How am I going to survive a month.." Feng Long frowned and glanced towards the new crater that had formed.
"Worry about that later.. first. A fire." Without a fire he would freeze to death. With a fire.. he'd probably still be cold. With no protection from the cold, no warm clothes, he was bound to get sick after a week. But that was a problem for later.
He set the axe down at the base of the tree, wiping off the bits of snow that were on him, before Feng Long began making his way towards the crater. The snow around the crater was already starting to melt. Thing streams of water slowly dribbled down into the crater, making little pools. The center of the crater was utterly vaporized from the dragons' breath. But by making his way around the edge of the crater he was able to find a few tree's that had been grazed by the ball of flame before it imploded.
Burnt branches and twigs layered the ground around the tree. Feng gathered a couple of those branches, holding them at the end, and carefully carrying them away from the crater. After a couple of minutes, he'd gathered enough additional pieces of wood to create a make-shift fire. At least one that he didn't have to be worried about going out anytime soon.
But little trigs and branches wouldn't last through the night. He at least needed a couple of logs of wood. Luckily, Feng long had an axe that would help him chop down a tree. He reasoned that a single tree would be more than enough firewood to last a month. In his opinion, the hour or two of effort would definitely be worth it
Feng Long reached the black axe, getting a firm grip of the knob, before he started making his way towards the tree with the thinnest trunk. It didn't take him long to find one that he liked.
"Alright.. let's see what I almost died for."
Feng Long muttered the words while drawing back the axe. He swung the axe, with as much force as he could. His eyes went wide, however, as the blade hit the tree and sliced clean through the trunk. There was no resistance from the tree, at all. Feng Long was so shocked that he forgot to steady himself after the swing. His body following through with the swing and he was soon buried face-first in snow. He'd lost count of how many times he'd ended up in the snow and he was really getting sick of it.
Just as he was about to pull himself to his feet, to push over the tree that was still standing up straight, words appeared in his vision.
[Warning. All stamina has been consumed. 'Exhausted' state will be applied in 5 seconds.]
[5…4…]
Feng Longs brow furrowed at the words.
[3…2…]
'Exhausted?'
[1]
Before he had the chance to think about what the words meant, or even be excited that there seemed to be some sort of system, his vision was already going dark.
