On that peaceful night, I learned the sobbing of a little kid.
“Kobo… what’s wrong,” I asked.
“Aunt Komina! Sis never has time to play with me. Between taking care of the shop, and treating Phil and helping the farm, she never has time for me! Why do things never go my way!”
“Now, now, Kobo. I’m sure she would want nothing more than to play with you. How about a story?”
“A story?” Kobo asked curiously as he wiped his teary eyes and dripping snot.
“Yes, a story of two best friends.”
Kobo sparked with interest, and looked at me with attentive eyes.
....
Once there lived a little bunny and kitten, named Lunarie and Solais. Lunarie loved to play with her favourite ball, and her best friend Solais. Every day, Lunarie and Solais would spend the day playing under the pitch black sky.
“I wish we could play forever,” Lunarie chanted with a sweet little smile.
“Me too!” Solais exclaimed in her laughter.
But one day, Solais could not play anymore. The sky was too dark, and no one could see anything. She huffed and she puffed, and flew into the air. Being the happiest little kitten, he filled the sky with light. Now everyone could play.
Except Lunarie. Playing with herself was no fun. So at night, she waited for Solais.
“Solais? Could you come play with me?” Lunarie asked with a smile on her face.

“No. Sorry Lunarie… I need to stay in the sky. Those little boys cannot play without my light. Maybe another time,” Solais replied with a frown.
So she waited until the next day.
“Solais? Could you come play with me?” Lunarie asked with another smile on her face.
“No. Sorry Lunarie… I need to stay in the sky. Those farmers need me to grow their plants. Maybe another time,” Solais replied with a frown.
So she waited until the next day.
“Solais? Could you come play with me?” Lunarie asked with another smile on her face.
“No. Sorry Lunarie… I’m just too tired to play today. Maybe another time,” Solais replied with a frown.
So she waited until the next day, but she knew nothing would change.
Until the 54th day when the sky turned pitch black again. Solais had fallen asleep, and the light turned into darkness.
Lunarie stared at the sky by herself, frowning and crying that her best friend was so tired, her ears droopy from also being so lonely.
But Lunarie was a helpful bunny. She knew what had to be done. She huffed and she puffed and flew into the air. She grabbed the drowsy Solais in her arms, and tucked him into bed. For every night she would fill the sky with night, so Solais could sleep.
Lunarie knew that if she did that, Solais would never be able to see or play with her again.
For that reason, Lunarie would never shine as bright as Solais, and her tears filled the night sky, in the shape of stars.
But Lunarie knew it was for the best.
…
“Poor Lunarie,” Kobo said, once again looking like he was about to cry.
“The lesson of the story is, we can’t always do what we want from others, no matter how much we want it. What we need to do is help others to make their life easier.
“Does sis have a hard life?”
“We all do, but we do it because we love each other. Love brings us together, and lets us care for each other.”
“I love you Aunty.”
“And I love you to, Kobo.”
“I’ll wake up extra early so I can help water the crops, and help feed the sheep.”
“Thank you Kobo, you really are a good boy.”
With a golden smile, Kobo happily went to sleep.
