Good day. As this is my first work of fiction, I would like to ask for feedback from you readers for to polish my writing skills. I am very open to any sort of criticism. Today, I would like to say something. I have decided to upload one chapter once every three days as daily releases puts a heavy strain on my schedule. Please understand.

It was already late morning when Sigvorn woke up, equipped with the usual Ashrune, he sets out to look for equipment. The shop specializing in armors, robes, and clothes were just nearby so he knew where to look. As he went inside, he was greeted by a cheerful teenage girl.
“Welcome! How may I help you today?”
“Ah, I’m getting equipment for myself.”
“Then I can help you with that! Looking at your stature, a light armor should suffice for your needs.” Sigvorn thought for a while and looked around the shop. An armor made of leather with a cape attached at the back. Sigvorn suddenly showed interest. When Sigvorn was a child, the heroes in his story books always wore a cape, which he found heroic. Looking back to the girl, he pointed at the armor in display.
“Ah, is this what you want sir?” As Sigvorn nodded, the girl went a carried the armor from the display to the table. The girl immediately checked if there were any damage in the armor. Finding there was none, she presented the armor to Sigvorn.
“This armor costs 140 gold.” Sigvorn with money to spare, didn’t hesitate to buy the armor. Seeing Sigvorn’s excitement to wear the said armor, she took the initiative and led Sigvorn to one of the fitting rooms of the shop. After a few minutes, Sigvorn went out of the fitting room.
“Hmm, it is slightly loose, but I think it will be a perfect fit when I grow a little bit.” Seeing Sigvorn’s satisfaction, the girl bowed as Sigvorn prepared for his leave. After a few seconds, Sigvorn went and took his leave from the shop, the girl waved at him as he went farther away.
“So I think I’ll start training.” Sigvorn muttered. Ashrune, who heard Sigvorn, agreed with his decision.
“Good idea.”
Sigvorn’s plan which was suggested by Ashrune, was to take a jog around town in the morning and spend slaying monsters outside of town the rest of the day.
Sigvorn followed Ashrune’s plan for a whole week.
****
A few days have passed since Sigvorn was training. Today, Sigvorn was headed to the guild to take a quest. He haven’t took a single quest recently as he was focusing on making himself stronger. He currently had around 60 gold coins left, but found it necessary to make more.
A few minutes of walking, Sigvorn didn’t noticed he was already in front of the guild. There was a crowd near the guild. Looking at the situation, something seems to be happening. He went forward to confirm the situation and saw a fight going on, a man around the age of twenty-five was standing arrogantly who was carrying a large broadsword, while a young man around his twenties was laying on the ground.
“Huh, is that the best you can do?”
“Y-You bastard…”
Sigvorn asked one of the people who were watching the fight what happened, the man explained that the older man became angry when the younger man accidentally bumped him, the young man sincerely apologized but instead, the older man began to punch the young man’s face. A sword fight broke out and the winner was, obviously, the one who was currently standing. Nobody seemed to intercept the fight as the older man was a B ranked adventurer and the young man was a D ranked adventurer. In a peaceful town such as Hazelbury, mostly, the highest rank of quest the guild could provide is B rank. That’s why it is such a rare sight to see even a B ranked adventurer and higher in Hazelbury. Seeing this spectacle, Sigvorn’s sense of justice immediately lit up and approached the two.
“Stop!” Sigvorn yelled in a somewhat stoic manner. The older man who noticed this, looked at Sigvorn’s direction.
“Huh, who are you?” Sigvorn, hearing this, thought it was an opportunity to spread his name throughout the world. It may be a childish action but he dreams of being a well-known adventurer. He gazed at the man and grinned.
“I am Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords.” The entire crowd suddenly fell into awkward silence.
The silence made Sigvorn uneasy, The name he made for himself was just created a few days ago, he didn’t knew how it sounded to others. But he had to say it nonetheless.

After a few seconds, the silence was destroyed as the older man laughed loudly. “Hahahaha! ‘Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords’? How interesting! I haven’t heard of you before but as you are fellow famed warrior such as me, I will introduce myself. I am known in the northern lands by the name of Devin the Brute! Surely killing someone of your caliber would bring me great fame!”
In the world of Esloria, famous adventurers, outlaws, demons, and heroes had nicknames to spread their fame. Devin thought that Sigvorn was one of those famous warriors and challenged him. Sigvorn who was grinning the whole time unsheathed his sword, making the surrounding townspeople retreat a few paces.
Devin went to the initiative and held his hand out. “Let the flames go wild on my hands, Fireball!” A ball of fire headed onto Sigvorn’s direction, He dodged the flame flawlessly but didn’t notice Devin was already in front of him, the fireball was merely to distract Sigvorn. By instinct, Sigvorn raised Ashrune to block Devin’s blade. As their swords came into contact. Sigvorn realized the strength of his enemy as he was struggling to hold on. Devin who saw his advantage began to use more force and tried to crush Sigvorn.
“His strength is the real deal. But….” Even though Sigvorn was struggling, he was grinning. Devin thought it was because Sigvorn enjoyed battle but when he heard a sound coming from above, he immediately retreated. Devin eyes widened as he saw a sword stabbed the ground.
“Huh, what’s this?” Devin had a puzzled expression, the sword Sigvorn was wielding and the sword stabbed on the ground were similar. Sigvorn, who noticed Devin’s expression, poured more mana into Ashrune and three swords appeared out of thin air floated at his back. Seeing this, Devin had a surprised look marked on his face.
“Now, do you see why I am called Sigvorn of the Thousand Swords?” Sigvorn bragged. Ashrune, who noticed how happy Sigvorn was, gave him a word of encouragement.
“You seem to be enjoying yourself. Anyways, show him the fruits of your training.”
“Yeah, I know.” Satisfied with Sigvorn’s answer, Ashrune went silent. Devin who was fascinated by Sigvorn’s abilities began to speak. “Interesting! Even though you look like a brat, you are truly someone worthy of their name, now it is time to show why they call me Devin the Brute!”
Sigvorn used the three floating swords and aimed it towards Devin, but with a single slash, the three swords were shattered into pieces. Devin charge through with full power, Sigvorn managed to block the sword but was still blown a few paces away.
“W-What the!? His strike was stronger than before!”
“Oi Sig, Are you all right?”
“Y-Yeah, pretty much.” Sigvorn stood up, if he had received a direct hit from Devin, he would have died even with his leather armor protecting him. He analyzed Devin’s fighting style from their encounter and noticed that his swordsmanship was average, but what makes him a force to be reckoned with is his tremendous strength. Sigvorn began to wait for Devin’s attack. As Devin charged, Sigvorn smiled, and whispered to himself.
“As expected, his strength is real, but his technique lacks. His attacks are predictable, I can do this.” As Devin slashed through Sigvorn’s position, his attack was easily evaded. Devin being surprised almost lost his balance. Sigvorn saw his opening and went for the attack, leaving a deep wound on Devin’s shoulder. Devin, who clenched his teeth, retreated a few steps.
“Tsk, I messed up.” Before Devin could retaliate, Sigvorn created five swords which were pointed at Devin’s neck. Devin who realized he lost the battle, dropped his sword.
“Kill me, I’d rather die than live in shame of being spared by my enemy.” Sigvorn who saw this showed a puzzle expression.
“What are you talking about? If I killed you, then who would spread my name?” Sigvorn smiled like an innocent young man. Devin who was surprised by what he said, returned a smile. He thought how satisfying would it be to serve under the man who was standing before him, Devin heard the footsteps of the town guards who were arriving at the scene, before he lost his consciousness.
