Jayden lived a very unfortunate life filled with unjust people and two abusive parents. He could remember so clearly the day his father drove off a cliff on a highway that ran along the coast of California. On that day Jayden was playing chess with himself in the basement of a small old house tucked far into a street corner. His holo pad sat next to his chess board vibrating, and shaking the table. He had recieved a random message on his holo pad, and was about to read it. however right before he could take a look at the message his mom came down the stairs clearly drunk, and in the same fowl mood as usual.
For some reason something was very different about the way she was looking at him. Jayden chose not to say anything about her being drunk because he knew that if he complained it his mom would get angry and beat him. He was already having a very hard time at work because of the bruises, and didn't want the manager getting into his business. He had enough problems and didn't need someone else's help.
However those blood shot eyes that wouldnt let up started to make him feel very uneasy. Jayden looked down towards his feet but his eyes stopped at is moms waist, and discovered that her right hand was behind her back clearly hiding something. It was only when Jayden noticed a silver glint in the mirror behind his mom that he discovered exactly what it was that she was trying so hard to conceal.

She opened her mouth for a brief moment as if wanting to say something, but after seeing the horror on Jayden's face she closed her mouth and smirked. The calm look on Jayden's face turned into one of despair. He knew that his mom who had no qualms beating him in front of other people, wouldn't hesitate trying to kill him. Knowing just how desperate the situation was Jayden launched himself at his mother hoping to stop her from pulling the gun on him.
However pain shot through his lower body as soon as he tried to stand up. His mom had beaten him senseless the night before, and unfortunately his legs took the brunt of the beating. If it wasn't for his swollen legs Jayden could have had a better chance at stopping her, but unfortunately he was shot three times in his stomach and chest mid hobble.
Sprawled out on the ground, and choking on his own blood, Jayden was about to black out but not before hearing one last loud bang followed by a soft thud, and the weight of something warm smothering his body. Filled with shock, and unimaginable pain from being shot in the stomach, he was surprised that the pain was slowly starting to faid away. Jayden who was bleeding out from three different wholes in his chest thought that this was the end to the cruel joke that was his life.
However through one last act of desperation, Jayden turned his hole ridden body as much as he could turn it so that he could read the final message he received on his holo pad. Upon reading the first few lines a single tear made its way down the side of his face. All Jayden could think before he finally blacked out was, 'Life truly is...unfair'.
