Hi! My name’s leon and I’m 12 and I live on the outskirts of a village called Yako. Weird name, I know. If you want to complain to someone do it to the village elders. Bunch of old pricks who pick on people all the time!, anyways, I live with my parents and 2 older brothers and sister. Yes, i'm the youngest make fun of me haha, My father is currently inscripted into the army for another 3 months before the war up north ends. When I grow up I would like to be a magical farmer who uses nature magic to grow crops at twice the speed of normal crops! I mean, It’s so awesome! Magic I mean, You can literally create something from nothing! And by only using mana, the mages of legend were even said to be able to erase cities in a night! Of course I would never do something like that even if i could,
I’d just like to raise crops and live a peaceful life. Mother said that If I study hard and could get an intelligence of 12 minimum then she’d let me go to the closest city which has an academy, which in this case would be the city of Carran which is a few kilometers to the west, like 40 or something. I don’t really know since I don’t know how much a kilometer is, I think it's a pretty short distance but I can’t really tell since I’ve never left the village before except to go to the local forest for wood and sticks. Sorry I'm starting to ramble again sorry!
Mother says I have a tendency to go on rambling for hours on end about pointless things like legends of dragons and what they look like and how cool they are! Well, would be if they didn’t burn down villages and all that. But really, books say that dragons have mana wells of about 120 average men, combined! And that’s actually only a young dragons mana! I really don’t know how a dragon can store that much mana. I heard from a passing wizard that when humans try to draw in too much mana into their soul they experience something called a mana sickness. I’m not too sure what that entails but apparently it really hurts your tummy and hurts your soul too, but- Sorry! I was rambling on again, jeez this is so embarrassing.
Mom was right after all, anyway where were we? Uhh..... Right intelligence! So anyway, my mom says I have to get 12 intelligence before the age of 16 to get accepted into a magic school, or academy as my mom calls them. Right now I’m not doing too well in the intelligence department but I still have thre- four years to correct that! I’m gonna study really hard to become a wizard! Huh-? You don’t know what intelligence is? Wel- Wait you mean you don’t know what values mean? Okay I guess I can try to explain but I’m not too knowledgeable about these things either.
Where to start? Uhh, Right! Stats is short for statistics, which is basically a progress of your health and other stuff that is hard to measure without stats! The average stat for a grown adult in their prime is like 10 in everything, however I feel like that’s just a number to compare yourself. I’m not too sure about the specifics but I know that my dad has a strength stat of 16! So my dad can beat up your dad, Ha!
Anyways to check your statistic all you have to do is say “Stats.” and a blue metal panel floats up in front of you that only you can see, and you can see each statistic and a number to each thing. Like so “STATS!”

The stats are pretty self explanatory but if you don’t get it I’ll explain real quick. Strength is like how much stuff you can lift, dexterity is like how fast you can move and stuff, agility and stuff. Intelligence is really important to a wizard since it speeds up your thinking process and affects how fast you can learn a spell, and cast the spell aswell. Wisdom is the recall of information and how well you can do it. And last but not least charisma, this one is kind of unknown but most people just assume it’s how nicely people treat you. If you’re wondering why I have a blessings I can explain. So basically at birth there’s a small chance that you receive a minor blessing, so I’m really not that special.
There’s an even smaller chance that you receive a normal blessing, which is really special, and those people usually go on in life to become rank A adventurous and become rich! But then there’s also the greater blessing, which basically sets an easy life for you. No matter what kind of greater blessing it is, if you receive a greater blessing from any god then you’ll become that gods church’s patron child, the church will treat you as if you are a godsend or something.
Anyways there’s a blessing that’s even rarer than the greater blessing, and that’s called an absolute blessing. But that’s only a legend really, and I don’t really believe in that. Any-
Wait a second why am I talking to myself again? Damn it this always happens these days. Huff”
Leon started to pick up the logs after placing the axe back onto its wooden shelf. After losing about 20 minutes of sunlight of just talking to himself he has to hurry back to the safety of the village walls. Goblins and various other monsters are more common at night time, since most of the monsters can see in the dark, and therefore use that advantage against other mammals. However Leon had no worries about that since his village was only 5 minutes away at most if he ran a light jog back.
After breaking a light sweat and gaining .1 more strength for carrying logs he made it back to the dirt road which lead to the village. Running on the dirt road for another minute the village was already in sight, and with it the 2 guards standing post were also in sight. The village was surrounded by thick logs stood up the way, the poles formed a wall which was held together with more magic than anything physical. The walls were 2 meters which was enough to fend off any goblins or other small creatures that were brave enough to wander towards the village. Orcs and ogres have never really been a problem in the area since the village was blessed by the church and the area placed under a small monster repellent spell. Of course some monsters still got through but they were quickly dispatched.
As Leon headed towards the guards he started to slow down and eventually return to a walking speed. He trotted towards the guards in an exhausted manner and slowly opened his mouth to speak “Hey Guss, Frederick.” The guards looked surprised but quickly replied back “Hey Leon, I see you got some wood there, parents send you out again?” The guard asked in a bored tone. Leon scratching the back of his head while holding onto the logs with one hand “Yeah, every weekend haha” He awkwardly laughed, not really inclined to keep the conversation any longer than needed. “Yeah, I remember when I had to collect wood back in the day” Laughed the other guard “Idiot you’re only 24” Replied the other guard. “I’m just gonna go in you guys, alright?” Leon asked while fiddling with the wood in his hands “”Sure, go on”” The guards let him pass without questioning him any longer and letting him be on his way. Leon stared at the guards backs while walking away and thought to himself “I’m so goddamn awkward sometimes” The sun was still just over the horizon, and Leon estimated that he’d get another hour of sunlight at least. He walked on the dirt path and took several memorized turns that he’d done a few hundred times before. He fingered the wood while he was wandering down the dirt road towards his house, kind of bored since there wasn’t much to do while walking. After a bit of walking he stumbled onto the steps of his house and walked up to the front door. Making sure that this was indeed his house and twisting the doorknob. His mother was in front of the fireplace cooking stew and his siblings were seemingly in their rooms. “Hey mom” Leon said while carefully putting the firewood next to the fire place, He turned and was met with a smile from his mother who then started to pat his head “Good kid, did you get any stats while you were out there?” His mother stopped patting his head like a dog and Leon smiled a shy smile “Yeah, I got a +1 in strength and a +1 skill in woodcutting” Leon fiddled with his fingers, not sure what else to say. “That’s great honey! Dinner will be ready in 10 so go clean up and get ready to eat.”
After cleaning up with a wet rag and cold water Leon walked down the corner and walked into the dinner room, The smell of boiled meat and potatoes lingering in the air. At the table there was his siblings and mother with one seat remaining open for him at the side of mother. His siblings were already dining and so was his mother, but he didn't mind since he wouldn’t wait on them either. But it still hurt a bit nonetheless. His older brothers were actually twins, both 15 and his older sister is 18. There isn’t much to say about Leon’s older brothers, they had average looks, brown eyes and average stats for a 15 year old. His sister however had a beautiful face with the same blonde hair that their mother has. Blue eyes which their father has and a small mole above her eyebrows. She could be described as cute, but Leon, not yet in the stage of puberty found her annoying and gross, obviously. Leon sat down opposite his sister and started to eat. He found his mother's cooking exceptional as always and had no complaints. In the middle of eating he found his sister staring at him, so in return he stared back, *Harder* This led to an intense staring competition that ended up in Leon’s favour, and her sister looking away. Leon stuck out his tongue and continued eating. The brothers not even noticing anything. After finishing dinner Leon washed his ceramic plates with a wet cloth and went to his room, however his sister followed Leon and started to prod questions at him “Why were you looking at me at dinner, freak?” Leon was taken aback and stuttered a response “Wh- What do you mean? You were the one looking at me Avilanna.” Leon honestly had no clue what was wrong with his sister right now, He could only those few words before Avilanna said “Yeah, right. Asshole” and strode off. Leon honestly thought that his sister might have some brain problems since he honestly had no idea what he did wrong. But he could only shrug it off and go to bed. Washing up before wearing his pajamas and slipping into bed. He closed his eyes and let his consciousness drift away, and sleep claim him.
