[Teregor Eltherian][Session 2 - Level 1][Part 1]
After working in the mill, grinding wheat into flour, Teregor “El” Eltherian’s day was not over. He had his pant legs rolled up, his shirt off, and his shoes to the side. He held his arms up in front of him, bent slightly at the elbows, with his fingers pulled into tight knuckles. The young man slowly sidestepped, walking in a circle, and facing his opponent.
“Keep your stance.” Bandlor, the fallen god of war said with furrowed brows. “Take every fight seriously.”
“I am sir.”Teregorreplied.
“Good, then I won’t hold back.” Bandlor stepped forward throwing a fist toward El’s face.
El got his forearm in between and blocked the blow. He quickly pushed forward and tried for a quick kick to Bandlor’s ankle. The god of war sidestepped before swinging a fist in a huge arc.Teregor ducked underneath it, weaving to the other side, before jabbing Bandlor in the side.
“Nice shot!” Bandlor shouted with a grin full of shining teeth.
He quickly brought his arm down, grabbing the back of El’s collar. With his other arm, he went to swing and punchTeregorin the face. There was no dodging this time.Teregor knew he would have bruises for another week just like the first fight and the ones after that.
Bandlor’s fist never collided with El. The farm hand pushed away from him and straightened himself. Bandlor was staring off into the distance at the town's main road. Teregor turned to see five figures marching in a line into town.
In the distance, he could see the first of the five wore plate armor and had a massive sword on his back. The sun reflected off his armor like a beacon, an expensive beacon, Teregor had been told that plate armor was worth more than this whole village. The second figure is wearing a green gambeson and has a long bow on its back that would leave envy in any hunter in these parts.
The woman in the middle wore a few fine pieces of steel strapped on her arms, legs, and chest all over the top of the padded cloth. The woman behind her wore simple clothes fit for travel. The man leading the back was a dwarf, who was bare-chested beside a belt, and an ax strapped to his back.
El could feel his body tensing even as he tried to keep his cool. Seeing adventurers, whether they were gilded or not, was a bad omen.
“I suppose those are the type to cause trouble?” Bandlor stepped next to El.
“What are they doing here? Teregor clenched his fists.
“Let’s go find out.” Bandlor starts to walk back toward the rest of their clothes.
El and Bandlor got dressed before they headed through the village. The group had come in through the main road, but hadn’t continued all the way through. They were nowhere to be seen.
“You want to make bets on where they are?” Bandlor put his hands on his hips.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“Maybe the smith? Getting their weapons sharpened.”Teregorguessed.
“No, their type, they’re getting a stiff drink.” Bandlor smiled.
Bandlor started to make his way toward Drigs’ Tavern andTeregorfollowed behind.Teregor was curious if the fallen god of war was planning on taking them on in a fight. They had only been training for three weeks, whereas the others may have had years of experience fighting monsters.
The two of them pushed through the doors of the bar and walked inside. Bandlor pushed past the elven adventurer who was leaning against the wall next to the entrance. He walked straight towards the bar ignoring the insult hurled his way.
“What are you blind or stupid?” The elf threw up his hands in disbelief.
El shuffled past the elf and followed Bandlor. Bandlor stopped at the bar where there was the dwarf in a seat, the armored man leaning against the bar, and the woman who was wearing plain clothes.
“You’re in my seat,” Bandlor said towards the dwarf.
The dwarf slowly sat his tankard of ale down and turned in his seat to face Bandlor. The dwarf had a long braided beard and mutton chops that were both a rusted red color. The armored man gave Bandlor a side-eye while the woman had a look of contempt and disgust.
“Look ye probably fuck cows for a living, coming from this town, so your get-up isn’t gonna intimidate us.” The dwarf said bluntly.
The woman snickered, but the knight didn’t react in the slightest.
“I said you’re in my seat.” Bandlor gritted his teeth.
El had seen him do that a few times since crash landing in his bar. Ban was unhappy and things could get nasty.Teregortensed, shifting one of his feet out so that he was in a more stable stance.
“You heard him. His seat.” The knight pushed the dwarf off of it. “We have somewhere to be.”
“Right, Aceta should have our weapons sharpened by now.” The dwarf grumbled as he was escorted out of the building by the knight.
“So what Guild are you from?”Teregorasked the woman as she grabbed a coin purse off the counter.
“Like you even know a thing about Guilds.” She glared atTeregoras she walked past.
“I do,” Bandlor said as he sat down. “And I know you aren’t with one.”
“Well, we should be long gone before you can do anything about it.” The woman sneered before leaving the bar with her compatriots.
The elf held the door open, he looked atTeregorone last time, before he disappeared out onto the street with the others.El shuddered before turning to Ban. Bandlor was turned the other way, grabbing the dwarf’s tankard, and finishing it.
“Were you trying to pick a fight with them?”Teregorasked as the tavern started to return to normal.
The villagers began conversing about what just happened. Drigs walked across the bar and stopped in front of Bandlor. The god of war rubbed his face with the back of his arm to get rid of the foam on his lips.
“Same thing the kid said. Was that going to be a fight?” Drigs asked barely containing his anger.
“I just needed to get some information from them. Now I need it from you. Why are Rat Catcher’s in Belrond?” Bandlor asked.
“Kobold warren an hour away, they have been hunting in the Lord’s forests. He doesn’t like that the law forces him to share with us villages. But there’s no protection for those poor scaly bastards.” Drigs said.
“Do you have any weapons?” Bandlor asked.
“You plan on killing them?” Drigs asked wide eyed.
“Outside the city, but yes. I do.” Bandlor clasped his hands together as if he was thinking.
“I have a short sword and a crossbow,” Drigs replied.
“Alright, fetch them for me,” Bandlor ordered and Drigs immediately headed to a back room.
“I’m coming with you.”Teregorsaid.
“I know. I need your support.” Bandlor nodded to him.
