Chapter 2: Future Plans (5/12)

----------------------------------------------------

''Tsch...''

The short, blue-eyed woman was looking at the boy in front of her quite annoyed.

''What are you staring at?''

Shin sat at a large table and with a tired expression on his face, he focused on the food in front of him. He had to pull his focus away from his food when he felt intense stares coming at his face non-stop.

''I guess you enjoy making people uncomfortable."

"SHUT UP, BRAT!

Rina suddenly raised her voice and shouted, but when she realized what she had done, she regretted it and sat quietly in her seat. For a few seconds, she surveyed her empty surroundings. Then she reached towards the boy in front of her and spoke in a whisper this time.

''I thought you were clever when you brought that smart arse here, but you were just a cunning fox!''

The chestnut-haired boy sighed deeply and spooned his soup in front of him for the last time without changing his posture.

''Ahh... Sana-san made it really well.''

Ignoring the woman in front of him who was about to go crazy with anger, he moved to another plate prepared for him on the table. Seeing this, Rina's eyes widened in rage as she stood up and threw her chair behind her.

''You two were lucky today, but I'll catch you guys alone, don't worry!''

They were far from the center of the tavern, in a section further back. After what had just happened, there were only two of them here. Despite this, Rina for some reason just started walking without doing what she said.

As she walked towards the entrance of the inn, the boy who was sitting at the table with pleasure, unlike her, stopped eating for a few seconds and called out to the woman who was walking away from him.

''I have nothing to do with this bizarre case. It was just a random encounter with a desperate person and I felt the need to help him. I don't know why you're angry with Minato, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't involve me in this drama of yours.''

Then he continued his meal from where he left off. He did not get any response to what he said.

---

Shin had finished the full plate in front of him and carried the dirty plates to where they should be.

‘I think Minato got beaten up pretty badly. Sana-san must have been taking care of him for a while.’

Since he had finished his meal, he had no work left in the dining hall of the inn. That's why he started walking towards the place where the short woman had just gone.

‘There isn't even one person at this hour...’

He had heard the door of the inn opening several times while he was in the dining hall, but he had not met anyone because he was far away from there.

‘I guess there is no more problem left that could trouble me now.’

He looked at the stairs at the entrance of the inn with tired eyes. As he was moving towards the stairs with slow steps, his eye was caught on the reception stand next to the stairs. Fortunately, the short woman he remembered was not there. It seemed like there was another person on the job right now.

‘Haahh... It's way past my bedtime.’

His eyes were half-closed as he climbed the stairs, and it looked like they could shut completely at any moment. While continuing to yawn, he was trying to fill his mind with thoughts in order to keep himself awake at least until his room.

‘Apart from that shorty, this inn seems fine. I guess it was a good decision to come here after all.’

He had reached the first floor where his room was located and this time there were no obstacles in the corridor that could stop him. This place was as quiet and calm as everywhere else.

The chestnut-haired boy walked to the end of the corridor with the moonlight hitting his face from the opposite side and opened the door of room "13". After getting inside, threw himself on the bed without even feeling the need to lock the door behind him.

---

The sun was shining quite fiercely. It was coming at such an angle that it was shining right through the window, illuminating the person lying in the center of the bed in the room.

''Ahh...''

There was a chestnut-haired boy lying on the bed. As the bright sun shone on his face as if it were aimed specifically at him, the boy turned around several times in discomfort.

But this was not very effective, because the sun seemed to be chasing him and no matter which way he turned, he was somehow exposed to the bright light. In the end, he decided to stop resisting the light and adapt to the situation, preferring to sleep with the light shining on his face.

He managed to adapt to this situation for a while. In fact, he almost fell into his sweet sleep again, but just then, the light hitting his face intensified even more and completely illuminated his vision beyond his closed eyelids.

''OOkayy... I'm not going to sleep anymore, damn it.''

The boy slowly opened his eyes by shielding his eyes with his hands and started to stand up from where he was lying.

''Hahh...''

After straightening his body, he got up from the bed, yawned, and stretched his body a bit.

''It's like the sun's specifically trying to wake me up...''

He walked towards the window and looked towards the bright sun outside. Not long after waking up, the boy's eyes soon got used to the bright light. Although he had to squint because he was looking directly at the sun, he seemed to be enjoying the sunlight that had disturbed him in bed.

Shin lingered in his room for a while. Then, remembering that he had no more free time, he put his knife on the back of his pants and headed towards the door of his room after taking his money pouch with him.

''Of course, let's not forget the card.''

Before leaving, remembering something he had forgotten before, he went back and picked up a card from the table with a few chairs arranged neatly around it. This card was made of wood and only simple patterns and a number were engraved on it. However, to Shin, this card was more valuable than he thought.

‘I think this card can be used for more things than I thought. But I'll find that out later, Let's have breakfast for now.’

This time he was sure he had everything he needed, so he walked towards the door without hesitation.

‘Besides, maybe if I show my card to that shorty, she'll leave me alone...’

---

"Good morning.”

A chestnut-haired boy called out to the person next to him from where he was sitting. After going down the stairs, he went to the place where he had eaten yesterday to fill his stomach.

This place was a little further back from the spot where everyone had enjoyed themselves so enthusiastically last night, but apparently, it was still an area that most people used. In fact, it could be called a dining hall right next to the kitchen where the food was prepared. Instead of individual tables, there were several long tables and plenty of chairs around them.

The first thing that caught Shin's eye after descending the stairs was the reception area. He expected to find the short woman lurking there, but he saw no one but another employee he didn't recognize. Thus, he came directly to the dining hall with a sigh of relief.

''Good morning to you too...''

The person Shin called out to was none other than the auburn-haired young man who had barely survived last night. He had a troubled expression on his face as he answered him and his voice sounded faint.

From Minato's blank stare at the plate in front of him, it was clear that he was lost in thought. When Shin saw this, he ignored the young man and returned to his own plate, beginning to eat his meal with pleasure.

‘I don't want to get involved in this case anymore, I need to secure myself before the money in my pocket runs out, I can't waste my time on such small matters.’

He wanted to finish his meal and leave this inn quickly, not to be seen by Rina for a while to get away from the situation. After all, as he had told her last night, he had saved Minato completely by chance. He didn't even meet Minato properly.
