"If you come any closer… I'll scream!" The girl said, stuttering. She thought Yato was some kind of thief; however, she began to doubt her own speculation when she saw Yato's appearance. Looking like that, couldn't he be a model?
Yato had long white hair. His eyes were golden and glittering. Anyone looking into his eyes would be almost mesmerized by him. His face seemed to contain no imperfections. His body was thin and tall. He currently wore a white sweatshirt and black pants.
"Miss, I am not a thief." Yato said as he floated towards the girl; however, his actions left the girl even more confused.
'I… am I really going crazy?' She thought.
"Don't come any closer!!" The girl took a piece of wood that was beside the door and threw it at Yato; however, she was shocked when she saw the piece of wood pass through his body.
...
"Gho… Ghos… GHOST!!" The girl turned her back and ran as fast as she could.
*steps!* *steps!*
After descending the stairs, she saw her sister sitting on the couch while watching television.
"Onee-Chan! There's a ghost here!!"
"What the hell are you talking about?!"
"LOOK!" She pointed to Yato who was slowly descending the stairs; however, her sister just looked at the stairs with a confused expression.
"There's nothing there."
"W-What?! Can't you see a boy over there?!"
*Sigh!*
"Stop these games, got it?"
"But Onee-Chan…"
"no ifs, ands or buts, I'll walk you to your room."
"Onee-Chan, don't go upstairs-" She tried to protest again; however, when she looked at the stairs…
'Where is he?!' She couldn't see the boy anymore.
'Am I really going crazy?!"
"Come on, you need to sleep early today."
…
"O-Ok…" She took her sister's hand and walked up the stairs again. She was still scared; however, she didn't want to upset her sister.
"I'll be in the next room, don't worry about anything."
"Un." She hugged her sister before heading back to her room. She decided to sleep with the door open and the light on today.
'Maybe it's just my fantasies taking over my head.'
In the back of her mind, she wished she wasn't hallucinating. She wanted her fantasies to be real. She wanted to do magic. She wanted to kill monsters. She wanted to go out on an adventure. She wanted to… forget about her past.
*Sigh!*
She sat on her bed, lost in thought.
"You are a mortal with interesting motivations."
...
"kyaaaa!!"
She jumped out of bed when she heard Yato's voice.
"You…" She was ready to run towards her sister's room.
"Don't run. I just want to talk to you, mortal." Yato sat on her bed, with a bored expression on his face.
"Why are you so scared?"
"This…" She wanted to yell at him right now. Who wouldn't be scared knowing that a "ghost" was inside her house?
"I won't hurt you."
"What do you want from me?" She asked, with a nervous expression.
"Can we talk after we introduce ourselves?" Yato said, with a smile.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
"My name is Yato."
…
"Well… my name is Sakura Kanami." She was feeling a little unsure; however, she still introduced herself after a few seconds of hesitation.
Sakura was a short girl. Her hair was short and had a pink color. Her eyes were gray. Her body was slim but well developed. In short, she was a beautiful girl.
"What are you? A… ghost?"
"No, I'm not a ghost. You can touch me if you want." Yato held out the palm of his hand to her. Sakura hesitated for a few seconds; however, her curiosity won out. Extending her fingertip, she touched his palm.
"Did you see?"
"Why did the piece of wood go through your body?" She asked, curious.
"Because I can become intangible." He gave a simple answer.
"W-What?! Are you saying you have super powers?!" Sakura exclaimed in surprise.
"Heh...do you still doubt that?" He had done a lot of abnormal things in front of her. Was there a need for doubt?
"...I-Amazing!!" Sakura was paralyzed for a moment; however, her Chūnibyō personality began to kick in.
'I'm dreaming?!'
She couldn't believe her fantasies weren't actually fantasies. She was extremely excited.
"...Wait! I'm losing focus! You didn't explain why the hell you're in my room! What do you want from me?!"
"Well now that you're calmer, we can talk about the reason for my visit." Yato said, smiling.
"First…"
-
"Where am I?! My head hurts!" The boy got up from the ground a little dizzy. His vision was still blurred. It took him a while to understand what was going on.
"Your first impression was pretty pathetic, I would say."
"!!!"
"Who are you?!" The boy didn't know how Yato had gotten into his room; however, his greatest fear was seeing it floating. He initially thought he was dreaming, but it seems he wasn't.
"I am here for-"
*Bam!*
The boy didn't wait for Yato to finish his words and threw a glass bottle towards him; however, the bottle went through Yato's body.
"AHHHHH!" The boy started screaming and ran towards his bedroom door. He opened the door and left. After leaving, he closed the door.
*Bam!*
'A ghost?!' If this was a dream, he wanted to wake up soon. Even in your worst thoughts, a ghost would never come out of that gift box.
"You're kind of an idiot, aren't you?" Yato walked through the door and looked at the boy. He thought that this young man's intellectual capacity was not very high. Who would close the door on someone intangible? Wasn't it easier to just run?
'Well, Fear is hindering his reasoning.'
"Don't come near me!!" The boy ran towards the exit door of his house.
"Well, looks like you're going to be more difficult to talk to than the girl." Perhaps because of having Chūnibyō, Sakura was calmer when Yato appeared; however, this boy was very desperate. He probably won't listen to anything Yato says.
*yawn!*
"Simple methods don't always work." Yato said, with a yawn.
When the boy arrived at the exit door, he thought he would be saved; however, he was shocked when he saw he was in his room again.
'W-What?!' He didn't understand how he got here. When he tried to run again, his body was paralyzed. He tried to scream, but no sound came from his mouth.
'What is happening?!'
"Well, we can talk quietly now." Yato said, with a smile. The boy tried to do everything to try to move his body; however, his attempts were futile. After a few minutes, he gave up on his attempts.
"See? It wasn't that hard." Yato made the boy's body return to normal.
"What do you want from me?!" the boy asked, with a nervous expression. He knew running was futile, so he decided to talk.
"Mortals say it's rude to talk before introductions. My name is Yato." Yato introduced himself briefly.
'Didn't they tell you it's illegal to break into other people's homes?!' The boy thought.
"I didn't break into your house, I'm just visiting." Yato replied with a sarcastic smile.
The boy froze when his mind was read.
"W-Well… My name is Keiichi Otake." He quickly changed the subject. He also decided not to make mental comments.
"...The reason for my visit is..."
-
"Are you saying you're not from this planet?!" Sakura asked with a shocked expression.
'She understands faster than that guy.' Yato thought. He was talking to Sakura and Keiichi at the same time; however, Keiichi is a bit slow.
'That guy should read more novels.'
Yato could be in any location at the same time due to his Omnipresence. Unlike his Omniscience, he tends to use Omnipresence more often—That is, he manifests himself physically in many places at the same time more often than he uses his omniscience to know something.
"Yes, you're right. My goal in coming here is to find you." He replied.
"I?!" Sakura was a little embarrassed.
"Well, I have a proposal for you."
"P-P-P-Proposal?!!" Sakura started delirious. Her face started to turn red. She hadn't expected him to make a confession so suddenly.
"Isn't it too soon?! We just met… I'm not ready-"
"Be my…"
'Ahh!! He will speak!' Sakura mentally prepared herself.
"My guinea pig." Yato said, with a characteristic smile.
"Uh?!" Sakura's expression froze. She looked at Yato who was smiling and understood that she had been tricked.
"S-Get out of my room… NOW!!"
"Baka! Baka! BAKAA!" Sakura took a piece of wood and hit him on the head; however, her blows went through her body.
"Hahahaha" Yato smiled at the girl's reaction.
'This adventure will be interesting.'
