Interlude: Caro and Asura
Caro was pretty pissed. After deciding on the plan Caro went out to spy on the academy. With her body size of about eight centimeter and her darkness skills in illusions and hiding it was a pretty simple task. But she was still angry about that idiot Asura. He was pretty strong she knew that. But why could he not think a bit more about Mia? At the end of the day whenever he went off to do something reckless it would be Mia left behind, worrying sick.
Over the last three years Mia had become something of a sister to her. And even that stupid stupid idiot Asura was more of a brother than anything. But what pissed her of the most was: Couldn’t he rely just a bit on his companions? Why did he always insist on doing everything alone? It irritated her to no end. This whole world was confusing and scary and she only had two people she could rely on: Asura and Mia.
She couldn’t bear to see them harmed and yesterday when she found Asura covered in wounds and almost dying, it was like her heart tore apart. But that has always been her problem even before being reincarnated: Whenever she was scared or worried she would lash out especially at those she was worried about.
She approached the academy thinking about that and almost ran into a couple of academy students. Quickly hiding using a shadow mantle she started listening in on their conversation. Two young men around tewnty two she would say were standing in the park that surrounded the academy. Both wore the typical blue robes that all the student at the academy wore. Eye-catching were the stripes of color that were sawn into the hem of the robe: One of the men had four blue stripes and three green stripes, while the other had three yellow and three red stripes. Caro had an idea on what they meant but for now she would just listen.
“Did you hear yesterday? It seems there was an attack on the academy!” The one spoken to only retorted with a grunt: “Stupid. As if anyone could win against the principal. The only human who can control all the magic types.” Well that explained how Asura would loose to him. Someone who can control all magic types? Wasn’t that too powerful? But then she remembered: Darkness and Shadowpower were prohibited for humans. Well most humans didn’t even know about Shadowpowers in the first place, most would mistake it for darkness magic.
Anyway it seemed that there were not too many details known to the general populace which was good. Going through bushes that were planted alongside the walkways she made her way to the academy. She didn’t think she would find out a lot tonight but she had to get away from Asura for a while. Because she couldn’t calm down and she felt that Asura’s patience was wearing thin.
Hence she rather started to investigate than get in a fight with him. A fight she couldn’t possibly win. She recently had reached the sixth rank in lighting and her guess was that normal mages or fighters were no match for her. But Asura was absolutely NOT normal. His speed of growth and power were frightening. If she didn’t have seen his soft sides with Mia, her guess was she would have been scared stiff of him.
That night she at least found out the general layout of the academy. It seems the four towers were designated to four of the elements: water, fire, wind and water. Lighting was taught in the main building and light seemed to have a special place that Care hadn’t found yet. But form what she heard and found out, light magic was seen as holy hence she guessed that some kind of church or something would teach it. The light magic students seemed to be the VIP students of the academy so Caro assumed that some kind of holy ground must be within the academy to teach them.

In fact what she didn’t know was that below the academy an entire complex was dedicated only to teaching students light magic. After all they would be the next generation of clerics. So after finding out that much Caro decided to return. She had cooled off as well so she might just as well go back.
She came back to their camp around dawn. But before she could enter the small patch of wood, she was hit with an oppressive atmosphere unlike anything that was ever directed at her. If she could she would be sweating by now. Then she heard it from the darkness under a tree a few meters away:
“Let’s make one thing very very clear. I held myself back for Mia but she is asleep now. I will not be belittled. I made a mistake yes. And i even apologized for it. But if you ever talk to me that way again, Mia won’t be enough reason for me to stop. Do you understand?” Asura was not talking loudly. But every word could be heard clearly. His voice was ice cold and it actually made her body shiver. But she wouldn’t be Caro if she backed out now. That in itself was impressive, there are not a lot of living things that can move when Asura released his killing intent.
It took everything out of here but she managed to use her telepathy: “Sorry. You are right i went over the top. But do you know why? Do you?” That seemed to surprise Asura. His killing intent became a bit less.
“I worry about you. You are important to me and so is Mia. Don’t you get that? I am sorry about how i talked to you that was not okay. But it doesn’t change the facts. We worry about you. We just don’t want you to get into a situation, you can’t get out off. Fuck i just don’t want you to get yourself KILLED!”
Desperate she actually ‘shouted’ that last word. That seemed to have calmed him down a lot. “Okay.” Huh? Did he just say okay. Caro was dumbfounded and the oppressive atmosphere vanished as well. Asura chuckled. Wait a second. He laughed? And when she looked she saw: Mia was right. Asura actually was beautiful when he doesn’t have that scary face that he normally wears. He came out of the darkness actually laughing.
That shocked Caro more than anything. Even more than his looks. Seems like he cut his jetblack hair. From the lenght of his waist he cut it to shoulder length and bound it to a ponytail. Eyes that were so dark they almost looked black, a perfectly proportioned face which looked a bit aristocratic, skin that seemed so smooth it could be a baby’s with a shine that came from the almost not see able scales he had. Caro knew even though he looked a bit fragile his skin was as tough as any armor. She walked over it before it was still so smooth even though it was tough.
The mysteries of this world. 180 centimeters tall and not a gram fat too much when he smiled and not looked at you like you are prey then he was like a figure from a fairy tail. “Surprised? Well you see I don’t have many people who care about me either. But you should know: I am proud. And the way you talked you actually made me furious. And you should know it is not healthy to make me furious. But on the other hand it is okay to scold me when I do something stupid. But keep it down a bit or we both might regret it later.”
If she could she would cry now. It seemed he actually cared. So there was only one thing she could say: “Yes and i am really sorry. And i will try my best!”
