CHATER 994
Estelle left the restaurant and walked a good distance before realizing she had forgotten to retrieve her
car and had simply walked away.
She had a busy day and didn’t eat much at lunch, now her stomach was giving her grief.
Looking around, she noticed the restaurant was close to the University of J City. She decided to hoof it
over to the food street and grab some noodles.
It was the same place she used to frequent.
Finding a vacant seat, Estelle sat down. The owner promptly came over with a big grin, “What can I get
you, missy?”
Only then did he recognize her and his face lit up, “Well, it is you! It’s been ages since I last saw you
here, you’ve graduated, right?”
Estelle gave a small nod, “I’ve been overseas for the past two years.”
“No wonder!” The owner was still as chatty as ever, “I thought you hadn’t turned up for a while, but your
boyfriend comes here often.”
Estelle was taken aback, “Boyfriend?”
“Yep! The gent who used to come with you.” The owner said with a smile.
Jonathan came here often? This was a surprise to Estelle. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Jonathan’s upbringing didn’t condition him for dining in such cramped and crowded places. He’d only
come with her a few times before because she liked it here. He didn’t particularly enjoy the food here
either; he would only nibble a bit to keep her company. “Same old, same old?” The owner asked, still
remembering her usual order.
Estelle snapped back to reality and nodded, “Yes!”
“Coming right up!” The owner laughed and walked away.
Estelle’s mind wandered back to the words the man had said earlier. She admitted, their breakup
wasn’t entirely his fault. She had issues, too. But times had changed, they can’t return to how things
were, and she definitely can’t fully love him again.
Perhaps her childhood experiences had made her more sensitive to pain than others. She remembered
every detail of the abuse she suffered at the hands of her adoptive parents when she was three, and
the deep-seated pain of their breakup.
She may never trust him again, or believe in love!
Her memory had set up defenses around that particular place. Every time she got close to him, or even
saw him, it would trigger that memory, and that memory would always tell
her to stay away from Jonathan!
When love can’t bring joy to both parties, it was time to call it quits.
Estelle stared at the food in front of her, something she had been craving for, still as delicious as ever,
but for some reason, it didn’t taste the same as she remembered.
Later that night, Henson was jolted awake by thunder. Remembering his newly sprouted sunflower in
the garden, he hastily got dressed.
Growing a plant from seed to fruit was a school assignment. He couldn’t let his sunflower get ruined by
the rain.
When he got outside, he saw two servants and Fabian setting up a rain shelter for the sunflower.
Seeing him, Fabian shouted, “Get back inside, it’s going to rain!”
Henson ran over to help Fabian finish the shelter, then he went back inside, reassured. Turning around,
he saw the light on the third floor was still on. He paused, then dashed back into the house.
