Chapter 2 - Realm Unveiled

As Edén looked up from the ground, momentarily blinded by the radiant sun peeking through the leaves of a colossal tree nearby. Squinting against the light, he gradually opened his eyes, revealing the breathtaking landscape where he had been truly summoned.

Perched on top of a hill under the shade of the massive tree, Edén's gaze wandered across the enchanting landscape that unfolded before him. Lakes glistened like liquid sapphires, rivers flowed throughout the lands and majestic mountains loomed in the far distance. The air carried the invigorating scent of unfamiliar blooms and the gentle rustling of leaves added a pleasant undertone to the symphony of nature.

Edén felt a sense of awe as he absorbed the beauty of this magical realm. The grass beneath him was soft, a lush carpet that seemed to invite him to explore. It was a place of surreal enchantment, a realm where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blurred into a seamless tapestry. Taking a deep breath, Edén sensed the mystical energies that lingered in the air.

As Edén revealed the beauty of the magical realm, the soft grass underfoot and the protective branches, he suddenly heard a peculiar sound. It cut through the symphony of nature, a distinct and yet familiar note that drew his attention.

Edén, intrigued by the alien yet strangely familiar icon that had appeared in his vision, decided to investigate. As he focused on the peculiar symbol, information began to materialize, overlaying the vibrant landscape like a translucent veil. Textes and symbols appear in front of him, so alien yet he can read and know what they mean.

Without any external voice, Edén's newfound system silently presented itself. The icon, resembling those from the games he used to play, now acted as a gateway to a realm of statistics, quests, and abilities. Edén felt a surge of understanding, realizing that this mystical system was a guide, a companion for his journey ahead.

Exploring the menu in his mind, Edén discovered a wealth of information. His status screen displayed attributes such as health, energy, and some kind of level system. A quest log appeared, detailing tasks and objectives that seemed to align with what the forgotten god wanted him to do.

Curiosity led him to examine his inventory, where he found the remnants of alchemical concoctions from his lab back at home. To his surprise, many more things, that Edén had never heard of could be found in his inventory.

“Guessing these are from Azalor's realm, what a clever god. Even tho he doesn't look it”

Fairy dust, Bottle of the Luner light, Water bloom and many more weird and yet intriguing things could be found there.

Each item held potential, waiting to be utilized in this new adventure. Edén also noticed a section labeled Skills hinting at the untapped powers that lay dormant within him.

The system may become his silent guide, a companion offering insights into the mysteries of this realm. It responded to his thoughts, providing information about the surrounding flora, magical creatures, and even the whispers of ancient tales carried by the wind.

Embracing the system, Edén realized that this mystical interface wasn't just a passive observer but an active participant in his journey. It transformed the fantastical landscape into a canvas of quests and challenges, turning the exploration of this magical realm into a true adventure.

Closing down the system, Edén's surroundings regained their natural charm. The mystical interface disappeared, leaving him alone with the wide landscape ahead of him. As he looks around ones again, he sees a structure in the distance. The unfamiliar yet captivating structure beckoned to him and with a sense of curiosity, he set out on foot toward this new goal, to explore this world.

As Edén strolled along, he couldn't help but appreciate the beauty of the flora around him. Vibrant blossoms painted the landscape in hues he had never seen before. The air carried a sweet fragrance and he paused to examine the intricate details of the flowers, each petal a masterpiece of nature's artistry.

Among the flowers, he noticed peculiar blooms that seemed to glow with an ethereal light. As he reached out to touch them, a small creature, resembling a cross between a butterfly and a hummingbird, flitted away. Its iridescent wings left a trail of shimmering dust, adding a touch of magic to the encounter. Edén marvelled at the diversity of life in this realm, where even the smallest creatures carried an otherworldly charm.

As Edén wondered what that creature may have been, once again the peculiar sound shines through. The system again wants to guide him and help where it can. Like the system itself has a conscience, wanting to be used. Opening the system once again, a small bubble pops up. Giving him some notes of what it is, a small description and a name. Nothing too detailed, for there where some information missing from the description. Small blank spots are left open. Thinking into it more, it may be that he does not know enough about this world yet.

Lumifly

“A delicate creature dancing upon the air, resembling a small winged bird. Its petite form, adorned with iridescent wings, gracefully flitted between vibrant blossoms, leaving behind a trail of glistening dust that sparkled in the ambient light. Often helping the wild flora to grow”

Seeing that this has lightened up a new icon in his system, he looks into it more and sees that it's like a diary or journal of some sort. Writing down many things that he has seen, like how the river looked and the description of Lumifly. Looking around some more he finds out that the journal also has a map on it, of where he is and where he is heading to.

Shutting down the system and continuing his journey, Edén encountered a small clearing where a gentle stream meandered through the landscape. The crystal-clear water invited him to take a moment of respite. As he sat by the stream, he spotted colourful fish darting beneath the surface. Reds and greens, too bright to have ever existed back at home.

Further along the path, a sound caught his attention. In a nearby brush, he discovered a family of creatures resembling foxes, their fur adorned with vibrant patterns that blended seamlessly with the surrounding flora. The creatures regarded him with curious eyes before disappearing into the foliage. Edén marvelled at the coexistence of magical beings and the natural world, a harmony that never could have existed back home.

His journal keeps updating with new creatures and sights as he wanders. Looking fast into this new foxlike creature.

Sylvanfox

“The Sylvanfox is a creature with fur that seems to mirror the colours of the forest. Its coat is a tapestry of earthy browns, mossy greens, and hints of autumn red. Large, expressive eyes gleam with intelligence, and its tail, adorned with a plume of feathery fur, adds to its whimsical charm. The Sylvanfox moves with agile grace, its dainty paws making almost no sound as it traverses through the underbrush. Known for its curious nature, the Sylvanfox regards strangers with a mix of caution and fascination, embodying the essence of the enchanted woods it calls home”

Wondering further into the forest, Edén's gaze was drawn toward the structure in the distance, standing amidst the trees. As he approached, the details of the building came into focus. It bore the weight of time, evident in the weathered stones and the cracks that adorned its exterior. Yet, despite the marks of age, it radiated a timeless grandeur that hinted at its ancient past.

A worn but resilient sign at the entrance bore the name "Aether Sanctum" its letters etched in a script that felt both familiar and ancient. The entrance, tho weakened by time and nature, still holds the building high and mighty. It whispered of a history steeped in glory, a place where the mystical energies of the realm converged.

Crossing the threshold, Edén felt the air shift around him, resonating with an energy that permeated within the sanctum. The soft rays of light filtered through stained glass, casting a colourful mosaic on the stone floor. The air inside held a stillness, charged with a sense of glory that accompanied him as he explored the interior.

Amidst the Aether Sanctum's stone walls, Edén discovered ancient paintings that tell stories of this realm. The murals depicted a time when mortals and gods existed in harmony, sharing a bond that transcended the boundaries between the earth and the divine.

One painting portrayed mortals chosen by the gods to be their champions. The figures in the mural were adorned with divine symbols, standing as paragons of virtue and strength. Each mortal champion held a relic, a sacred artefact bestowed upon them by the gods, a sign of their bond with them.

The scenes unfolded narratives of these champions embarking on quests, guided and protected by their deities. Through trials and triumphs, they forged alliances with mystical creatures and navigated distant lands, all in the name of preserving the delicate balance between the mortal realm and the heavens above.

The gods, depicted in the murals as beings of ethereal radiance, bestowed their blessings upon the mortals with a touch that resonated with grace and power. Symbols of divine authority and godly energy adorned the background.

Thinking back, Edén did not see anything like this when Azalor chose him, Azalor himself was not that godly to think of it. He seemed more human than god. Maybe that is what happens to gods when they fall from the heavens.

As Edén continued to study the paintings, the stories unfolded like chapters in a long-forgotten story, revealing the intricate tapestry of a time when mortals walked hand in hand with their divine patrons. The brushstrokes captured moments of true harmony, portraying the champions as vessels of the gods' will, entrusted with the sacred duty of upholding the harmony between man and god.

In the heart of the sanctum, Edén discovered an ancient pedestal. A peculiar symbol, reminding him of the icon encountered in the system, was etched upon it. With a mixture of curiosity and reverence, Edén placed his hand on the weathered surface. As he did, the mystical interface reappeared, responding to the energies within the chamber.

The system, now attuned to the Aether Sanctum, unveiled hidden information about the building's significance. It was a building for ancient rituals, a nexus where celestial energies intertwined within the mortal realm. The structure had served as a conduit for communication between gods and mortals, echoing the deep connection that bound the mystical forces to the inhabitants of this realm.

However, as he delved further into the sanctum's mysteries, the atmosphere began to shift. The air grew heavier, and the ethereal glow of the paintings dimmed, revealing glimpses of an ancient tragedy that had left this sacred place in ruin. The once-vibrant depictions now bore the scars of a malevolent force, a dark presence that tainted the sanctum.

As the light started to go darker, an earth-shattering roar reverberated through the sanctum, the sound bouncing from wall to wall, causing the entire building to creak and shake. For the first time since arriving in this magical realm, Edén felt tendrils of fear sliding throughout his veins. A sense of dread, an unfamiliar emotion in this world, now gripped him.

In a desperate attempt to escape the impending doom, Edén swiftly ducked around a corner, seeking refuge in the shadows. The monstrous roar continued, accompanied by colossal stomps that echoed within the sanctum. The sheer scale and power of the unseen creature struck indescribable fear into Edén's heart, rendering him motionless. He found himself glued to the floor, caught in the grip of helplessness, with little to nothing at his disposal for defence.

The creature's presence lingered in the sanctum, a looming threat hidden within the shadows. Edén, trapped and vulnerable, could only listen to the echoing footsteps and strained roars, wondering about the nature of this otherworldly being. The sanctum, once a place of divine communion, had become a layer for a monster.
