Yumi sat patiently at her command station in the RV. She stared down at the plethora of screens as if they held the answer to life's mysteries, but nothing useful was coming up.
"I can see a black SUV leaving the Town Hall now." Bricks spoke into everyone’s earpieces, "Anyone heard from Scott yet?"
"Not yet," Yumi replied
“Hey Yumi, does your computer stuff tell you if his earpiece is on?” Bricks asked. He found the hole he pounded into the side of the hill was quite comfortable, but he couldn’t relax without knowing Scott’s fate. His view was good but not great. Most of the town hall was visible. A few trees dotted the property, but none large enough to obstruct much. Bricks had no view of the coffee house other than seeing the Java Jolt sign and the roof. He used the sniper rifle's scope to scan the area, but the only useful information he could provide was vehicles coming and going. The snipers posted on the town hall's roof would rotate locations every 30 minutes, and as best he could tell, they hadn't spotted him.
“Yes, and Scott can almost certainly hear us, but he is probably not in a position to talk. I have all our lines connected, so if anything comes from his end, then you all will hear the same time I do.”
“Thanks, Yumi. Keep me up to date, please.”

“No problem, Bricks.”
Yumi jumped as the RV door swung open but took a relieved breath as she saw Vanessa walk in and shoot her a wide smile. Trailing Vanessa was a figure in a hoodie and ball cap. As if in tandem, the door closed, and the hood came down. Alexia removed the baseball cap and shook her hair free. Vanessa thought to ask Yumi if Scott had checked in, but she could read the concern on the normally chipper woman’s face.
Suddenly a text message shot across Yumi's screen. 'I'm in the control room; I can't talk. I am going to start to try to place the cameras now.'. Vanessa could see relief shoot across Yumi’s face. She had little doubt the Scott would execute the plan, but that little pang of worry/excitement always lived in your mind, even if it sat in the corner and kept to itself. Until the job was done and you were far away, you couldn’t shake those thoughts. In truth, Vanessa hadn’t realized how much she missed that feeling. It got the adrenaline pumping and made her feel alive. That feeling had been missing in Vanessa’s life, and part of her hated how good it felt.
“He’s in?” She asked Yumi despite knowing the answer. Letting Yumi say it out loud would help ease Brick's fears. Vanessa saw that this was new territory for the adorably geeky girl, and while she worried Yumi’s inexperience could be an issue down the road, for now, it’s best to help her ease in and soak up the experience.
“Yes, Scott is in. He just can’t talk, but he can hear those of us with our earpieces on.” Yumi repeated.
“I knew you made it in there, you sneaky S.O.B. Don’t be looking up any girl’s skirts, you invisible bastard, and if you must, then take some pictures for me. For research purposes.” Bricks said with a heavy chuckle.
