Chapter 10- Arrival

Chapter 10- Arrival

The Campground became the home base and was only 5 miles outside of Rocky Mount, but Vanessa and Scott called a cab to meet them at the campground’s front office to save time. After a short ride, they arrived at the center of the Rocky Mount. It was large while still maintaining a small-town feel. The city bustled with activity, people walking, talking, and laughing. People jogging and biking through the town whizzed by. The pair was a little surprised at how happy everyone looked and how the town's infrastructure appeared to be in tip-top shape. They had grown up hearing horror stories of areas outside of the North-Eastern Territories. Stories of run-down towns with a struggling and sometimes even starving population filled with rampant crime. Scott had always imagined most cities were like Gotham City but without a Batman.

"I knew that when the campground had electricity hookups that the town probably did also, but I didn't expect it to be so, so..."

"Awesome." Vanessa helped Scott finish his thought.

"Yeah, Awesome seems to sum it up well," Scott said. "I suppose we should explore around and see what we can find. Maybe we can scout some places that would be good for private meetings."

"Sounds good sugar tits." Vanessa pinched Scott's nipple and made a kissy face at Scott before starting to walk down the street.

The two silently walked together around the town, and it mainly consisted of small businesses and residential areas. This could make it much harder to narrow down the location of the meeting. They began down the last street on the east side of town when they saw a large building with a vast open lot to itself. No other buildings or houses were constructed on its side of the street, and in front of it was a giant stone sign that read 'Rocky Mount Town Hall, ' and in smaller letters, it said 'In memory of Nathaniel Ruxton.' Both their faces lit up when they looked directly across the street and read the sign hanging from a store window, 'Java Jolt.'

"How about you treat a lady to a cup of coffee?" Vanessa smirked

"I don't see any ladies around, so I guess you will have to do," Scott said

Vanessa hit him in the arm, and the two proceeded to the coffee shop. They ordered a pair of coffees and sat down at a table looking out the window at the Town Hall.
