Chapter 1: Birth

A baby human was born within the outskirts of a kingdom in a small village. The baby was a boy, and the parents of the baby were the nobles in charge of the small village they live in. The baby boy was healthy newborn, the first thing the family of the farmer saw upon birth of their newborn son was a healthy smile. In usual cases, the baby would have cried but it seemed as though the newborn was happy to open his eyes to the world.

The first day when the old living dungeon was reincarnated into a body of a baby boy. He felt happy that he could see some people beside him and smiled at them. It was an innocent looking smile of a baby when they were about to laugh and giggle. The parents seeing this was happy to see their child smiling at them. They were filled with emotions of joy and happiness. There also stood a neighbour housewife, stood there smiling towards the baby as well.

The housewife placed her hands above the baby’s head and chanted words.

“As an observer of life I seek to discover the fitness of this newborn, Health Identification!”

Gender: MaleHP10/10MP5/5SP5/5StatusHealthy

As a floating square-shaped frame appeared above the baby. It revealed the Status of the child and his gender, as well as HP, MP, and SP.

The parents of the child was happy to see that there were no harmful status on their child. The man who was most likely the father of the child spoke. He had black short hair and brown eyes.

“Ellis, what name should we give him?” (Father)

“Hmm. How about Ethan?” (Ellis)

The mother, Ellis went silent and thought for a few second then said out the name. She had a long brown hair with the same colour of eyes as her husband. The father thought for a moment and nodded, approving the name that his wife has given their child.

“Hey Ethan! I’m your father Dylan Hunter and this here is your mother Ellis Hunter” (Dylan)

Dylan talked to the baby smiling while he pulled his wife and placed his hands behind her back while both of them faced the child.

“You know he won’t understand you right?”(Ellis)

“I know, but I just wanted to let him know.”(Dylan)

He smiled towards his wife and embraced her. The housewife seeing this felt like she wanted to get out of here with the lovely atmosphere between the husband and wife spreading out from them.

“Ehem.” (Housewife)

“Ops, forgot about you Linda ... Haha.” (Dylan)

The housewife named Linda made a small coughing sound to make them remember that they weren’t the only people inside the room. Hearing the cough, Dylan replied with a wry smile and as for his wife, Ellis, she turned around with a bit of a reddish face.

**********

6 Years had passed. The baby boy named Ethan is now able to walk, talk, read and write. He was taught how to read and write by the neighbour housewife, Linda Hariam. As he began to understand and learn from reading and writing. Ethan read books that contained stories about conquering dungeons; how they work; and how they were born. As soon as he reached the age of 5 he was soon taught how to use magic. Ethan who finally remembers what had happened to him in the previous life as soon as he reached the age of 4, easily understood the principles of magic.

For dungeons, magic is an essential thing for them. They needed to use magic to cast out magic spell traps and summoning creatures and even conjuring items, so it was easy for him to learn magic, when he was taught. His mother seeing how Ethan absorbed so much of the magic taught to him was rather excited. He was also interested with swordsmanship. As a dungeon, he never had any physical bodies. He only get to watch adventurers swing their swords with style and skills. He was being taught by his father, who was part of the royal knights of the kingdom.

1 year later, he had finally advanced into advance level magic. Ellis had told Ethan about the magician ranking and that there were a total of 10 ranks. They were Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Master, Saint, King, Emperor, Angel, Champion and God rank. She also explained how magicians are rare, that usually there are only 1 out of 100 people are magicians and they start as beginner rank at the age of 5.

There are of course special cases like a “talented genius” like Ethan who is able to use Advanced rank magic at an early age, but he is the only 6 year old to ever reach Advanced rank. There is also a special exception as well, which is the magic instructor. Depending on who the teacher was they would increase in rank real fast, but usually only high-class nobles who are in charge of cities are able to afford to do so. Luckily Ethan’s mother is a Saint Rank Magician. As soon as, he reached the age of 5. His father Dylan decided to teach him swordsmanship as well.

Ethan’s Schedule goes like this. In the morning, he does sword swinging exercises and sparring with his father. In the afternoon, he gets a small break from all the grueling physical training he gets from his father. In the evening, his mother would give him magic books and scrolls. She also taught him the basics of enchanting. Every 6th day he is taught ethics by Linda every afternoon. Of course, he gets a break in the evening, since he already is an advanced rank magician, though not official. He still does swordsmanship training in the morning. As for the 7th day, he gets to take a break from all the lessons and exercises and experiment on his findings.

*****

On a hill a child sits there meditating under the cover of the tree. He has black-short hair like his father and was around the age of 7. It was Ethan.

“Ethan!! Lunch is ready!”(Ellis)

Hearing his mother shout. He opened his eyes and stood up.

“I’m coming, mother!” (Ethan)

It has been 7 years, since he was born. He have already broken through Copper rank for swordsmanship and have broken through the advanced rank for magic. Ethan began to think about his past life as a dungeon.

He thought about how he had sent his dungeon creatures to look for other dungeons, only to get killed by a hero, but then he also was thankful for what the hero has done for him. He was able to start a new life as a human able to talk to people and enjoy his life. As he finished thinking about his past life, he walked directly straight back home for something to eat.

As he arrived in-front of the door, he saw a big amount of baggage all packed up. His parents had told him about them heading back to the capital by orders of the king. The people who will be left in charge of the village are the lower nobles of the town. At first, Ethan didn’t want to get left behind and protested. His parents, however didn’t want to bring Ethan along, since he is still yet to reach his coming-age ceremony.

Even if he was really talented. He never did get to use it in combat, nor adept in combat with swordsmanship. His parents have told him many times about the world being a dangerous place, especially the closer you get to crowded areas. This is one of the reasons, why they have asked for the king to grant them permission to leave in the outskirts of the kingdom.

--------(The line that will decide your Fate! No just a background story divider)----

Ethan’s mother, Ellis, got pregnant with his father, upon finding out. They have requested the king for leave until the child is 7 years old. The king wanted to grant them one of the houses near the capital, but his mother refused as she was uncomfortable raising her child near the capital.

Ellis, was raised not at the outskirts of the kingdom, nor was she raised in an urban area. She was raised in the rural area, filled with crop fields and pastures. Her parent’s discovering, she had talent for magic decided to enroll her into one of the famous university in their kingdom, once she reached the age of 10. Ellis’s parents saved up as much money as they could for selling their crops to have her enrolled, but Ellis never knew this until she reached the age of 10.

Upon discovery, she didn’t have much any choice, but she still tried to protest and change their minds. After, getting enrolled in the university, she achieved high marks, and good grades. She did get bullied early on, when she entered university because of her status. However, it changed when she beat and scored top 1 at the monthly assessment around her year.

After such an event, many of the male nobles tried to woo her and even tried to threaten her with her family, but his father who was in love with her and was just hiding at the sidelines always gazing at her, stood up and protected her. The other males tried to fight back, but ended up getting beaten. Until, his father declared he was one of the nobles under the king’s direct authority.

Ever since then, fewer male nobles threatened her and wooed her. Ellis, seeing such a display fell in love with him and they eventually turned into a couple and ended up getting married. Dylan’s parents wasn’t against it either. They weren’t your typical high noble parents, who despise commoners. Instead, they were the ones who proposed to the king to allow commoners to be able to join the royal university, the one Ethan’s mother and father studied at.

Dylan’s parents also used to be at the lowest class noble, until one of his great grandfather did a great deed to the king. As a teaching being passed down by generations. They were taught of how people who are of the lower classes are also people with families and children to protect and nurture.

-------- (Your fate has finally been chosen! End of BG story divider) ----

Ethan, after the day he was told about his parents leaving him. He was reminded of the task Ethan was given. It only means he only had little amount time left for him to prepare.

He entered his house through the front door. Upon, entering you would be able to see how wide it is inside, but if think for a bit. It is a reasonable thing for the owner of the house is a noble, whom is in charge of the village. Ethan went to the dining room and was greeted by his mother and father. He sat down on a chair that is opposite of the window and at the right side of his father, who was seated at the middle, parallel to the window.

“Father, mother. I have a request I want to make.”

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

Hearing their child requesting something from them, his mother stopped what she was doing and listened.

“What is it honey? Is there something you want?”

Ellis was curious of his sons action, as for Dylan, he just sat there and waiting for his son to make his request with his arms crossed around his chest.

“Would it be ok for me to become an adventure? While I wait for you guys to return?”

“No you-!”

“Do you have any idea, what you are talking about son?”

His mother wanted to oppose her son’s request, but was abruptly stopped by her husband’s serious tone. It was not an angry tone nor was it a tone of disallowance.

“Son, I know you like to read the books we brought with us. I also know you like the book that is related with dungeons the most. But, I will tell you this. There are plenty of dangers in a dungeon. There are also plenty of adventurers who have gone there for the great adventure they seek, but only few ever made it out big.”

Dylan, stopped and stared at his son’s eyes. He wanted to see if his son’s resolve faltered from his talk. Even with the words that was said in front of him, Ethan didn’t falter and was bent towards continuing his decision. His father seeing this nodded and turned to look at his wife.

“El, we should let him. We can’t stop him even if we force him to. Besides, we taught him stuff that even 7 years old shouldn’t know.”

Dylan spoke to his wife in a sweet voice, as if enchanted by the voice her husband. She nodded her head then looked towards her son.

“Fine, I’ll agree, but you will only be allowed to go adventuring once you turn 8. By then, it is either you changed your mind or remained with your choice, and prepared for the journey.”

Dylan sighed hearing her wife placing a condition on her son’s wish. After the talk, of what Ethan should do, for the whole year of preparing to go on his adventure. He went inside his room and thought of, what Linda have thought him to find out his own skills and talent in a numerical value.

“I seek knowledge of myself, I need information on my being, Status”

As he spoke those words a window of information appeared in front of him.

He wanted to make sure he would be ready for his adventure and took a note on his current stats. His goal is to raise all his stats to a minimum of 10 in a year. After, confirming his stats, he decided to check on his skills as well.

“My ability and skills is my talent, I wish to know the limits of my ability, Skill Information”

He spoke in a very silent tone, just like he did with his status. He didn’t want his chanting to be heard by his parents, as chanting usually is done to ask permission from the gods to give him permission and knowledge.

A window popped out revealing all his abilities and skills he have. His parents once told him, how people rarely have more than 2 unique skills and abilities. It is usually people who are heroes or representatives of a god are given more unique skills and unique abilities.

Author's Note: I'm too lazy to do the other skills like the normal ones, but I'll get it shown in the future if I feel like it. Re: The Lazy Writer's Procastination (not a story just me saying how I'm lazy I am)

Since, he is a reincarnated and representative of the God of Creation, he was provided with unique abilities. As the God of Creation told him. It will take a while for all the abilities that was granted to him to appear. As of right now, he was only given his 3 unique abilities from his past life.

He have experimented with his ability before and all the items, artifacts, and other items that are found usually in a dungeon’s final boss room are there. The only problem was he was not able to bring out such items and artifacts for he lacks the skill rank for such items.

After, sorting out his thoughts and preparation for the year of training. His parents knocked inside his room.

“Ethan, we are about to leave! Come on out here!”

Ethan walked straight to the door and opened it. Seeing his parents in full gear. His mother is wearing one of the typical mage robes and staff he had read in a book, however it looked more high-class, than the ones in the book. As for his father, he is wearing all his full plate armour, except for his helm, which have golden linings and a insignia of the Kingdom’s Royal Knights. The same goes for her mother’s robe it also have the insignia of the Kingdom’s Court Magicians.

Dylan walked forward towards his son and kneeled facing Ethan. While holding out a short sword. The short sword looked to be of high quality metal, most likely silver.

“Ethan, take this. You will need this once you are still resolute on going to become an adventurer. But, remember being an adventurer is not fun and games. It is a fight for survival inside those dungeons and the wilderness.”

Ethan looked towards his father and nodded before taking the short sword. His father stood up as the short sword part away from his hand. His mother also left behind some books for Ethan to read, but he noticed she also seems like, to want to hand out something personally as well. She took out a small crystal. It was around 2 inches long and 1 inch wide and with a hue of light blue at the outer layer and dark blue in the middle layer.

“Ethan, this is a crystal called “Mana Crystal”, it may not look like it, but it can store 2000 Mana, it is one of the most pure of the crystals that I kept, ever since me and your father became a couple, while proposed to me with this crystal. I was happy hearing his, proposal so I never did use this. But now, I think it might be better if you have it with you, just in case you get into trouble.”

Ellis was talking in a sweet and calm motherly voice, as if you are softly being caressed by her motherly love. Ethan felt really calm and saddened that he never did tell them the reason for why he wanted to become an adventurer.

Taking the gem she stood up and walked towards Dylan and stood beside him while holding his hand. She looked at Linda who was standing at the side on the whole exchange.

Nodding to her, they turned around and headed for the door. Ethan went outside as well and sent his goodbyes. As soon as they left with the carriage. Ethan organized his thoughts and walked back inside the house. Linda smiling gently and following him.

Author’s Note: Ahhh… Why did I feel like really sad and depressed near the end… Oh well. Anyways, Sorry if I just finished chapter one just now. I wasn’t motivated enough and I also had to code a lot of labs and assignments and even got frustrated. I also played some games, and stuff, but I’m a person who doesn’t like to work, but still…

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter even though It wasn’t really much. Tables sure are a pain….
