Chapter 5 Fenris

Chapter 5 Fenris

Yay! First R&R! Thank you Anubbisk! Though I don't get how it is awkward, hahaha. I guess because it's a bit of 'first person(?) speaking from Azunai. By doing that I can get into character as much as I can. Thanks anyway. So anyway, thans guys for reading and feedbacks, again.

Dungeon Siege

Chapter 5 Barathrum (note that the title in the thread is Fenris. I forgot to change that.)

After three days of hunting, I was able to procure 795 miasma that I will absolutely use for the battle against the pack of wolves we've encountered. I was also able to confirm, the more miasma I have, the faster I can corrupt creatures. But the rate of corruption when forcefully corrupting them also depends on the creatures size. I tried it on one of the captured rabbits. I also leveled up to level 5. And when I reached level five I was now able to make or employ a unique or boss monster. So I employed the rat champion immediately. Why not the wolf? Well, first come first serve to be fair. I might regret that decision later. So anyway... I looked at champ's stats.

My wolf minion also gained a couple of levels in that three days, which will be a great help. I also have the wolf train with Spartacus and the others to train the wolf  how to defend and attack multiple enemies. Though they may just be rats, they still provide an ample of battle experience, and yeah they defeated the wolf once so the wolf cannot complain. Although the defeat of the wolf was also because of my help.

So now, time for the real thing!

As my wolf minion picked up their scent, it followed behind the pack. Doing everything it can to hide its presence. There were about 15 to 20 of them wolves, because I or my minion could not locate the other wolves. But we were sure they were there. So I have my minion retreat and then have it howl when it was a bit farther from the pack.

Now I heard other wolves' howl in response. They picked up our trail and they doubled back and gave chase. My wolf sprinted fast. My wolf arrived and rested to recover. Because it was daytime, all the other rats were out scavenging. As for my other minions, I have some of them hide inside and outside waiting for the right moment to pounce on the unsuspecting wolves.

And they arrived. Glaring and growling at my lone wolf. The pack master stepped inside and the others followed. I started barraging them with corrupting miasma. I know they will not succumb easily and I'm also doubtful they'll succumb. I even fear that my lone wolf will not survive this ordeal I have gambled upon. So as I barrage them, they started to feel uncomfortable and disturbed, especially the pack master whom I focused my corrupting attacks.

The alpha started the attack, the others followed. My minion was able to evade their attacks and was able to retaliate on some wolves. So as to not be circled, my wolf tried to move around. My other minions who were inside were the dams and some other male dungeon rats to at least protect the pups. They stayed quiet during this ordeal.

As my wolf wrestled the pack of wolves I tried my best to delay their reflexes and reaction time. I tried to corrupt them to make them my minions but it seemed a lot more harder. Their minds resisted furiously. The same goes for the alpha. Then finally! I was able to corrupt one of the wolves. But it blacked out because of so much mental stress. It was still useful as I was able to reduce the number of attackers even by just one.

The pack is gradually chipping away the health and strength of my minion. Even if I use my rats, they would not be of any help. But I did anyway. This gamble should at least low the morale of the pack even by a bit. And if their morale gets lower it would be easier for me to overtake their minds and knock them unconscious, then they would already become my minions  when they wake up. So I prayed, hard, that my gamble would work.

And surely did! They became overwhelmed! I started knocking some wolves down. Their way outside were blocked by my rats and some forest rats who have returned. My minions and the other rats were also terrified of the wolves. They wouldn't be able to stand up against the wolves who were far more stronger than them. But they relent in blocking the retreat of the wolves. Nibbling them if they even get closer to the entrance/exit. My minions were on the front-line of the blockade. They were expertly dodging the attacks of the wolves. They already have experience fighting a wolf, but multiple wolves are still different though. It was harder as they could not focus on a single target. 'Cause if they ever do, they'll get killed by the other wolves. The other wolves are now occupied with dealing with rats while the alpha faced by my already, badly wounded wolf.

But left with only a handful of wolves to deal with, I thought that we had already won. But my wolf, wounds all around the body, bleeding every where, was downed by the fairly wounded alpha. The alpha fiercely howled galvanizing the remaining wolves. The alpha then turned its back on my wolf as it was sure the wolf is already dead if not, incapable. But I know that my wolf isn't dead, but soon will be from so much bleeding. Whether capable of standing back up or not, I was not sure.

The alpha wolf was about to go into the fray against the rats when it suddenly stopped. Sensing danger behind, it turned backwards to where the dying wolf is.

-The dying wolf stands! Hurrah! Take that Alpha-fuck-tard! All is not lost! Hahahaha. But wait! What is happening?!

Suddenly my wolf minion is glowing? Or what is it? Black light or mist? It covered the wolf entirely. Then the black mist dissipated, and a new fucking awesome wolf appeared. Pitch black furs that even light doesn't reflect on it. Its eyes were shining like a gem in gold. Even its fangs looks metallic. And then that ominous feeling that feels like you're gonna be drag into the abyss. Though I cannot feel it I could see it from the reaction of the wolves and the rats. I cannot contain my curiosity and excitement upon the event the unfolded, because I also gained 5 levels! I'm level 10 now.

No name? As soon as I looked. The mysterious wolf minion shocked me when it spoke to me.

"Master, what will be my name?" it ignored all the other beast there as if we were the only two.

I cannot speak though. Maybe telepathically?

-Barathrum! Since you look like a creature from the abyss.

"I like it master." it said as it wagged its tail.

Oooooooh! So awesome!

Then he faced the other wolves. Their tails were now tucked between their legs, the alpha included. So there is no more need to kill or even fight them. With Barathrum's fear aura I can now easily subjugate them. They actually all fell unconscious almost immediately and all at the same time. Whew! And Barathrum should be easily crowned the alpha of the new pack even without my orders.

"Awoooooooooooooooooo!" Barathrum's howl echoed inside the cave and then the moon was summoned.

Until then.
