Dungeon Siege

Chapter 4

A new day has dawned upon the side of a mountain where my crevice is. My crevice faces the east. To greet the mighty sun. And as the sun rise, the rats had already laid waste upon my dungeon. Literally, they shat everywhere, making my dungeon a stinking hole on the mountain. These vermins.

Oh well. There's no more Hope. I mean Hope the rat is dead. Yeah, so when Hope died, I gained 10 miasma. I got a profit of 5 miasma in return. 33 forest rats cohesively turned themselves as my new minions. So do I have them kill each other? For more miasma. I... I don't know actually. It's tempting. And if ever, it would make them much more stronger right? Argh! I just made it difficult for myself. I need to think about this carefully. Let's leave it for later.

So, last night, after Spartacus' victory over Hope. He has now been formally given his name!

I've been curious about this 'Rabies' skill. So I tried doing what I did yesterday with Spartacus when I instructed him to go outside. Then check on his skills stats.

Skill NameMasterySkill LevelSkill ExperienceRabies(Passive)Novice464%Toxifies rat's bite, poisoning anything that it attack. Rabies is a very lethal attack. It constantly hits the afflicted enemy with poison damage about every second. Thus, once the target reaches 1 hp, Rabies' next cycle kills the enemy. Also reduces the target's physical armor and reduces magic resistance.

Well, that's very useful. This is good.

So I've scattered my minions along with the other rats to scout for other prospect minions. And there I've found a hopping prospect. What cuddly little things. Luckily there was a strayed one.

I instructed 3 of my minions to sneak behind the rabbit. As they jumped the rabbit, the one in behind got kicked good by the rabbit and was sent backwards tumbling and fumbling. It knocked out my minion in one kick! Holy hell!

-Retreat! Abort! Abort!

Damn! These rabbits are strong as hell. Oh I'm gonna get back at you! I could use Spartacus, he's as big as these rabbits. But he'll be a lot weaker 'cause he's outside the premises of my influence. What the hell do I do? Overwhelm them with Spartacus' followers?

My minions returned safely save for the unconscious. Speaking of unconscious, the large rat that Spartacus defeated was apparently a champion rat. But unfortunately, I cannot add him to the ranks unless I level up more or for drastic measures, kill Spartacus. But I don't want that. Spartacus defeated him even with minus damage handicap. But I can't wait to add another strong minion in my arsenal. No the champion has no name, just Forest Rat Champion. But I will name him once I'm able to turn him.

Once darkness has enveloped the land, all the rats had returned to the cave. The cave is now bustling with rat noises as I have my minions duel each other. Not to death though. I crossed that thought. I would rather have a bunch of minions than a few but stronger. My minions could still get stronger without killing each other. And I allowed the champ rat to join so he could also get stronger before I turn him in.

And of course, Spartacus dominated. The second strongest was the champion. That only shows how strong Spartacus is. Damn, I'm happy he was the one who survived. I was also impressed with the champ. Once I turn him in I would not know who'll get the Alpha position.

The sun once again greeted me. It is now the third day since I became a dungeon.

After the duels last night, there was another two events that happened. About 20 female rats from the hollow tree gave birth to their pups. Well of course not at all the same time. I magically gained miasma, 1 for every pup born and alive and 0.5 for the dead pups. I don't know what is at work here. Of how I gained miasma. I can give a rough guess. Since I'm like the care taker for this creatures, they give me miasma for the shelter I give them. So they give me miasma and protection. That's just a guess though. So since there were 87 live pups and 29 that were unfortunate, I got 100 miasma again. And not only that! The pups who were born here automatically became my minions. That's fucking awesome!

And the second thing that happened. Guess what? Come on! Can you guess? Tch. Okay, I'll just tell you. I leveled up! Hurrah! Hahahhahah hell yeah!

Aww. How many levels do I still need? Darn it. But I'll convert another 33 minions again. That'll leave me with only 1 miasma. I can convert the Dams(pregnant or parent female rats). 20 of them. 13 rats left that I can convert. I'll just have to wait until they return from their daily routines.

I gave instructions to my minions, the adult dungeon rats, to scout around the surroundings. And I found the rabbit holes that the rabbits I encountered yesterday that they inhabit. Also found a pack of wolves wandering about the forest. My minions avoided them even without my orders. Yep, their's instincts still works yeah. Even if they're my minions now. Good to know.

The forest seems large. I would need an eye in the sky to see the vastness of this forest. And if it really is vast, then good for me. I would be harder to find. And I could prepare better defenses for any unfortunate adventurers. Yeah. No a bad idea.

Now I ordered my minions to return. And to my fucking negligence, I have led a lone wolf that was part of the pack to my dungeon. Great! Just fucking great. Oh my God, this is the worst possible scenario. If it was the rabbits that came instead of the wolf... I would probably rejoice. What do I do? Fuck!

So I ordered my new minions, the Dams, to retreat to most rear possible to protect their pups. Then the rest to form a defensive line inside the cave. Inside the cave I, they would have a little advantage. And I could help my minions by distracting the wolf by corrupting it. And if lucky, I would've make it my minion perhaps.

As soon as the wolf entered my cave I barraged it already with corrupting miasma. It tried to shrugged off the invisible force to no avail. But it still proceeded to go deeper into the cave as it cannot stopped the urge to hunt all of this preys. The defensive line of my minions broke off their line and circled the wolf so that they could flank it. Spartacus was the first to strike from behind. Nibbling it in its leg. The wolf reacted and turn around. As it turned, two rats attacked its back leg. The wolf turned again, and one of my minions took advantage but it was caught by the wolf. The wolf turned as fast as it could as it reacted to the rat that's trying to attack him, it used it front left paw to scratch my minion. Luckily, my minions got a bit of battle experience from last nights duels session. The end part of the duel is one versus all for each of them. My minion who was about to be "pawed" by the wolf evaded at a heart's beat. Whew! My minions are awesome. They're standing up against a wolf. It is not unfair. The wolf is so much stronger than them, so their number advantage should not be questioned for the weak should bunch together to fight off stronger enemies.

All my minions including Spartacus are heavily wounded now. I still continue to barrage the wolf with corruption to help them. And it was slowing down the reaction time of the wolf. Little by little the outsider rats were returning to the cave. They also help out on the assault. Champ also help quite a lot. Him and Spartacus were the ones who's dealing the most damage to the wolf. They're whittling it down bit by bit. exhausting it. And I intensified my corruption and finally! It fell unconscious. The outsider rats tried to swarm it once it was downed, Spartacus stepped up and stopped them. They all stopped. Spartacus is undeniably their leader. And it cost me 30 miasma, now I have 4 miasma left. That's quite a lot for a lone wolf. But now I've got me a wolf. Hahahahaha. 30 miasma it think is worth it. And no minions of mine or the forest rats were actually killed.

Nice! What about its' stats?

Sweet! I could do so much with the wolf in my arsenal now. Those rabbits will not be a problem anymore. Or any other small creatures for that matter. As soon as it wakes up I'll have it hunt those rabbits. I'll have it hunt for food so it wont starve to death since the rats are omnivores. I can't have the wolf eat the rats.

The wolf minion recovers his consciousness and I have it hunt the rabbits. And it killed a rabbit. I hoped that I would get a miasma, but nothing somehow. So I let the wolf munch on it. After its meal, I ordered it to leave the other rabbits alone.

Night had already come. But I still have the wolf wander some more, it found its pack but I ordered it to hide and not show itself. The pack is feasting on a deer. After a little while of observation on the pack. I gamble on it and let the wolf go to the pack. It approached carefully. Most of the pack members were already resting after their meal and only a few is eating what was left of the deer. As the wolf got a little closer the pack was alerted. The pack master stood and growled as a warning for the intruder. My wolf growled back fiercely as if telling the pack master that it didn't fear him. As they faced off, the other wolves tried to circle my wolf so I have him retreat slowly. Then he sprinted away. The wolves gave chase. I ordered it not to go to the cave as to not bring harm to my other minions. They wouldn't be of any help against the pack. As soon as my wolf lost them I ordered it to return to the cave to recuperate. That was kinda exiting. Thankfully they lost track of my wolf and they were steered away from the cave. But now I have a new objective. Have my wolf challenge the pack master for the leadership of the pack. But I have to bring them to where I have advantage.

But that can wait as I would need a whole lot of miasma to be able to help my wolf. So rabbit hunting for a while. Though without killing them.

About thirty minutes later, My wolf brought a live rabbit. Still squirming while on the wolf's jaws. When the wklf entered I immediately had it kill the rabbit. And "DING!". Yep, my theories are true. I can only gain miasma if the death hapens inside the cave. Now it's only about patience. And I have plenty of it.

After 3 days of hunting(bringing the rabbits alive inside the cave). I now got 795 miasma! Even though I have this much miasma now, I still didn't turn the forest rats. I would first save for the wolves as they are more important. But i will still turn the remaining 321 forest rats. Wolves are top priority for now. So I plan for my wolf's usurpation of the pack...

Until then.
