Chapter 7: Chased
“HUMAN! STOP!” A deep rumbling voice shook the ground. Silvia’s ears were split in two. the voice, it came from behind her.
Did the wall of flesh just talk?
Silvia glimpsed. The wall of flesh was moving, it was awake and it can talk! Her blood spiked, she muttered. “I implore thee goddess of lightning, strike me with thyself and grant me speed.” Like lightning, Silvia flashed forward. A push from behind as something swiped at Silvia but then it slipped away.
“NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!” the wall of flesh thundered. Silvia’s bloody hair was blown over her eyes as waves of air blew pass her.
Ears ringing, Silvia glanced at her near weightless passenger, the girl’s eyes were shut tight and her hands covered her ears. Shaking and mewling the girl shivered up the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. She struggled moments ago although now she lay quiet and meek. The girl had finally come to her senses, Now is not the time to struggle. They were in danger and they need to escape.
As Silvia ran, the girls hair flowed on her. Her hair and skin was smooth to the touch there was little to no friction against Silvia, coupled with her being covered in sticky yet slippery slime, it made it hard to secure a hold on her, Silvia gripped tighter, pressing the girl against her chest, the girl pules in protest.
Slowly the landscape changed. The smooth walls turned to rough rock, the glowing veins slowly faded and disappeared forming dark rocks. It was back to the normal rocks and dark walls.
The ground shook, Silvia looked behind her. In the distance gushing its way at an insane speed, the wall of flesh was giving chase. No longer did it had the appearance of a wall, it looked more like a raging flood of loose flesh surging upwards chasing after Silvia. Silvia had even more incentive to run.
Suddenly, everything around cracked and crumbled; from the cracks massive tentacles wiggled out.
Silvia’s heart fluttered. She drew out power from within and chanted. “Hangiin, Goddess of the air around us, controller of the winds, seeker of the clouds. Your humble servant calls forth in need of thy divine power,” She ducked as a tentacle flew past her. She kept running continuing her incantation.
“Grant me the fleeting winds, split away air and sail my body through your domain.” The wind grew quiet as they made way, it became easier for Silvia to Sail farther ahead. Air Pushed on her back making her run faster. As she breathed in, cool, rich air soaked her lungs. She stomped her legs and leaped far with every step, passing through the crumbling path
It continued to crumble, the dungeon around her. With every fallen chunk of rock, pink flesh revealed itself within. Clusters of tentacles, small tendrils and pink sprouts shot up like trees, intending to block her path.
“Hangiin, guide me.” Silvia blinked small drafts in air were made visible to her eyes. Silvia followed the path. Every miniscule movement the tentacles did changed the path, every small action, every movement made itself visible, showing path to safety. At the dance of the drafts she evaded every tentacle that shot to grab her. She evaded, twisted, bound and lept, Silvia let herself flow and dance along the winds.
But there was a sudden and unnatural shift in the air around her. Holes appeared from the exposed walls and they began to suck, changing the drafts paths towards doom.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Flash.” Silvia flashed forwards the torch ahead of her, avoiding the gaping hole that lead to who knows where.
As she touched the ground, she strengthened the chant. “ Ilawyun Flash, goddess of light, ruler of thyself, guide me, bathe me in light and move me forward.” Silvia flashed disappearing and then appearing at any place that touched light; Landing from eternal torch to the next, to every source of light; from the dim mushrooms to even the tiniest illumination, she rode the light.
A strong spell it was, nevertheless it was made with a short incantation. It would drain her but still, she had no choice and barely had time to cast it properly. She flashed to the next source and then- She fell.
Silvia fell, she twirled and with the help of the winds she landed back on her feet. Darkness consumed the tunnel. It was pitch black; All the lights were snuffed, there was no light for her ride on not even a firefly. Silvia trembled slightly but quickly she regained her wits.
“Ma Dilim, grant me sight and allow me to see through you.” Life force was drained within her and the darkness had allowed her to see. The ground rumbled, Silvia looked behind, the liquid of flesh was upon her.
NO TIME!
“Hora!” The world froze and time stopped. Silvia paled and she fell to the ground, landing on the girl she carried that was frozen in time. Air inside her lungs was knocked out of her. She had just activated a worldly spell without an incantation.
The spell sapped her life away pulling her through death’s door. She tried to scavenge her lifeforce “ Mighty goddess of time, bringer of death…Children of men weep….” She kept chanting and chanting, it felt like an eternity of chanting, as time was frozen she lost track of it, she also lost track of what she was saying inspite of that she knew she was still chanting, as her consciousness dimmed and as she breathe her final breaths she uttered the last and final lines. “show me your greatness, spare more time!”
Like an eruption coming inside her, time reversed seemed to have reversed and everything flowed back within her. Silvia managed to save herself. She gasped for air as it came. She panted and sweated as if she’d just ran full speed without stopping for a decade. She opened her eyes, breathing heavily.
“That probably shaved years off my life.” Silvia mumbled darkly to herself, as she finally caught her breath.
She raised her head. The river made of flesh, would have been just moments away from engulfing her. She shivered.
She needed to gain more distance before the world started to move again, for now she had a lot of time though, more than enough to get out of the dungeon.
Before she even took a step Silvia heard a click, it was faint but she heard it. She turned around, though slow it started getting stronger and more frequent.
What is going on?
SIlvia looks around all the falling rocks were still in place, The spell was still activated. But the flesh started jiggling, clicking as it wiggled, unshackling itself from time.
No, this isn’t possible
Silvia bounced. She ran like the wind but quickly halted. The path ahead of her was blocked by a wall. It stopped her from migrating out of the dungeon. The wall was made by a trump of hard tentacles. She looked back, the liquid of flesh was moving in.
She looked around looking for a way to escape but suddenly the stone walls crumbled, the Rocks and stones were still suspended in time but the flesh inside them moved and parted them away; she was now surrounded by pink flesh.
Slowly the trump walls started immigrating towards her.
Silvia was trapped! She hyperventilated as the walls edged slowly closer.
She was cornered. She was at the edge, about to lose it. The walls moved sluggishly as if to prolong her anxiety and continue this torture. She wanted it to end, the anxiety killed her, she was compelled to just jump straight to the flesh and just end her angst.
But she started remembering the pain, the crawling tentacles under her skin,
But then again she also remembered the soft peaceful vibrations after, the soft humming and echoed assurances. She had never felt that peaceful, ever in her life. She wanted to feel that again; accept her faith and just let it take her again, to feel that almost eternal peace and tranquility after a moment of pain.
“No!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.
She did not want that. Something was wrong with her, she was having inconsistent thoughts. Before she started thinking again, she started chanting.
“Ma dilim! Goddess of darkness! Swallow me in your presence and put me someplace else!!” She felt the strong pull of power ebbing her life force as both Silvia and the girl was swallowed and dispersed.
