First Delve - Ch 5

"Man how many layers do these spider have to pu- Ah, finally" he wipes the sword of the web that clung to it, while stepping through the man sized cut.

"it's dark... great, Well I only need to confirm a spider beast den, for my investigation to be complete, and while I am at it I can kill some spiders to sell their parts." he say's greedily

With a flip of his bag he pulls a fist-sized stone, which proceeds to then float around him, emitting a soft glow.

"there now we can se- Ach."

the first thing I saw was a spider mid-air, about to land on me. I grip my sword harder whilst raising it, its end pointed toward the spider. It gets impaled, in the abdomen and remains stuck to the sword, continuing to struggle in an attempt to get closer and closer, until it finally passes.

You have slain: Lesser Black Spider (common) +15 Exp

"Holy Fuck, I died of a heart attack you bastard... phew, anyways, Why would it do that, spiders are more of assassins types or swarmer's, not reckless types, speaking of why is the cave.. square? was this an abandoned hideout?" he turns back to the spider.

"Hm... This spider.." clang the sword rang out, creating an echo, and a crack, against the spiders back.

"So it wasn't reckless, it just had a damn hard shell, if I had aimed any higher I would have hit it's shell, and I don't remember spider shells being soo tough... maybe it's a new species or... Ok I have done my job I investigated thoroughly enough. I will bring this back as evidence, get paid, then sell the corpse, after all, they only need to see the corpse for it to be enough proof... Then we can really confirm if this is a spider den or..." 'An opportunity.'

'Really? that it? you don't want to continue and find som- Wait, no, DON'T GO!... Haa, I was hoping for a bit more than pure luck on my fist delver, how lucky do you have to be, to get your sword through a slit in the shell, that you can only to if you are below the spider, I mean sure their armour is weak, but it can stop a few hits by the looks of it. It could've been an interesting fight to watch.'

"Out you go now, go replace your fallen kin."

'Hmm maybe, lets try it'

"go out and replace your fallen kin whenever they fall... After the delvers leave."

-15 mana

'Holy Hell, WHAT? Why did I lose soo much mana! did I create some sort of automatic message that tells the spiders to well replace the dead when delvers leave? is that why? Godamn, though again there is no way to verify without one of my spiders dying.. And I don't exactly want to kill them, they are my creations after all, so they should die doing what they were made for, attacking delvers.'

'Well whatever I still have things to do, like expanding my domain downward, so I can start making the second floor, which, I have noticed is taking significantly longer to do, as I want to make it bigger than the first floor, I also want to make as many floors as I am levelled, so I will stop at the second floor, as I am level 2, make a third floor when I become level 3, a fourth at level 4, so on and so fourth. Alright, well, better make a move on.'

"This spider is not as heavy as it looks, at this rate, I will be back in 3 days, when the sun is nearing rest, though, I should start to get ready for the night..."

He begins looking in the distance along the path looking for a familiar spot he stayed when making the journey here, his eyes land upon a clearing, the remains of the campfire still there. He speeds up his pace to have enough time to set everything up, he drops the corpse near the campfire, then pulls out 4 stones from his bag.

"Though these guys are not repellents or anything, they work pretty great as alarms in this area, as I doubt there would be any uncommon rank animals here, with all the hunting the young nobles do for sport."

Holding the rock still he walks to each corner of his campfire and digs them into the ground, creating a square shape from each corner.

...

The man emerges from the tent before the sun has fully risen, takes down the tent, and digs out the rocks, putting them back in the bag.

"Though they say not to do this, but what choice do I have, just these low rank runes cost an arm and a leg to get. I cannot afford to buy new ones, better to risk them exploding as even paying for treatment would be cheaper. Sigh, I should have paid for detection skills instead, it is too late now." I say, while picking up the spider and continuing the long journey.

The sun has now risen to it's peak. The man looks around frantically while running, an arrow flies by, striking a tree just ahead.

"Fuck, I knew things were going too smoothly, Fucking bandits, just you wait until I hide this little guy, I will not have it's value fall." he mutters, sneaking a peek at the corpse, then continuing to look ahead from bush, to tree, to bush, for a place to quickly hide the body.

"There" he sees a slight indent in the tree ahead, after he can turn around and deal with the flies following him, without worry.

quickly dropping the corpse into the dent he turns around, just in time to catch the arrow headed for his had, and breaks it, while pulling out his sword. He quickly scans the area for the bandits, he sees them hidden behind some bushes ahead loading more arrows.
