Chapter 10 - King of Vanaheimr part 2/3

When I got to my daughter's room, the priestess and Nola were both there waiting on her. A priestess from the goddesses Temple would come every day to take care of her. They would cast minor heal spells and cleanse on her to keep the infection and sickness away. They were always female, and they wore robes to hide their figures. The robes were white with a blue line running along the left-hand side.

Her room was small in comparison to the rest of the castle. There were rough tables and chairs where they would eat and occasionally play games. There is another table against the wall holding, some cotton bandages, and other medical supplies. She slept in a twin bed. There was another bed in the corner of the room for Nola. She slept here in case something happened. Nola had been taking care of my daughter since she had turned 10.

Nola was trained by Korbin to be his replacement when Millie came of age.

Nola came up and spoke with me "my King, she's been doing well today, but right now she is asleep. You will have to come back in the morning if you want to speak with her."

I looked at Millie, the entire top portion of her head was bandaged down to her nose. The right side of her face was also covered in bandages. She had lost her arm from the elbow down and was missing her right foot as well.

She would look like her mother If given a chance. "I needed to speak to the priestess anyways." I turned to her while speaking "can we go outside the room and let my daughter sleep while we discuss things."

The priestess nodded and followed me out of the room. Speaking in a solemn tone, I asked "I am sending my daughter to the Irontown, and I need a priest to go with her and can you set up a Temple there?'"

The priestess looked thoughtful for a few minutes "hmm, my turn to watch her will be over soon. When I get back to the Temple, I will talk to the head priest there and get their permission. Somebody will return in the morning with the answer." The priestess smiled and spoke again "I wouldn't worry though, that town has been without a Temple for a long time, and with a request from the king it's more of a sure thing. At this point"

She turned around and walked back into the room. I sighed in relief. Now I need to talk to the warlords. Warlords building was in the inner courtyard on my way there I grabbed two of the guards and told them to follow me when I got to the warlords building. It always surprised me with how it looked.

It was a ramshackle building surrounded by an elegant castle, but the warlords refused to improve it. I walked inside. I only had two warlords, but they preferred to be called mechanics, whatever that means.

Inside the building. There was a large assortment of artifacts. The things nobody knew the purpose for, except these two. The pair was a father and a daughter. The father was a skinny framed man who was pushing 50 but looked half that age. His daughter swore like a sailor and easy to anger. She was 24 and had the same frame as her father. Even now as I walked into the shop she was cursing while halfway inside of her armor.

"shiting ass hole. Why the hell, are my tools all set to the wrong size dad. I told you if you touched my tools again. I was going to mess with your HUD display and put a .2 second delay on it." Her father, who was even now putting several tools back into her desk said "I wouldn't do that. Not after the last time, it took me a week to clean up the vomit from the inside of the suit." He quickly backed away from her desk, a second later, she poked her head back out of the armor.

She now wore a sneer on her face when she saw me and said "crap, the Kings here." The father Sam turned around to face me "oh Your Highness good to see youuu. What can I help you with today?" I chuckled after hearing their exchange. It's pretty rare when I get to hear normal people. I then replied to his question "I'm sending your daughter away for about a week. She'll be protecting my daughter." And hopefully not starting a war Sam now looked panic and said "let's, aaa no you can't take away Anna. She's the only mechanic we have right now. If she's gone, I won't be able to repair the suits anymore" Anna then replied with her head buried back in the armor. "Dad, you'll be fine. You taught me how to repair these suits, to begin with."

Sam had the rider class. He was basically able to train any animal he came in contact with, Another one of his abilities made it so that any vehicle Sam touched he would be able to drive. This ability carried over to artifacts called EXO armor. His daughter grew up trying to help her dad repair the suit. When she turned six, she got the engineering class.

As far as we know, she's the first-ever engineer. The other EXO artifacts are piloted by the rider class. She's also the only one who understands artifacts enough to rebuild and fix them.

I continued still smiling "like I said she'll be back in a week and she'll be leaving in the morning. I'll send two of the best Royal guards with her" Sam side when he said "fine, but this better not be because you're having peace talks again." I decided to change the subject quickly. "what does that tool do, The one you just put in your daughter's toolbox." Sam grew pale as his daughter yelled "first, I'm going to invert your controls, then I'm going to put a delay on your HUD, and finally I'm going to lock you up in it for the whole week I'm gone" she was angry at Sam. So I decided now was a good time to leave
