Chapter 18: Cure?

Chapter 18: Cure?

"What are the odds of this thing curing the disease?"

In a laboratory, a man asked a woman in a lab coat.

The woman pushed her glasses up before saying, "Should be pretty high. Though, I can guarantee perfect cure if you had invested more money in my project."

The man scoffed, he turned around and looked at the child that was inside the glass wall.

The child looked madly deformed, his hair glowing white, his eyes as if it were painted in red. The child was floating up glass tube as pipes entered his organs, giving it nutrients, oxygen, everything that something needs to live.

The man said, "There are more experiments, more important ones than yours. Doctor Rivera, make sure that this thing will really cure the pandemic. The Crown wants this whole mess end by the time they die."

Doctor Rivera chuckled and rolled her eyes, "I know, I know. But this would've been much faster if you had given me more test subjects, and of course, money…"

"Shut it, woman. We will not be using our own people for your experiments."

A voice cut off Doctor Rivera, a man wearing a white mask appeared. He looked at the doctor, then to the man and said, "Sir. Marshal Arshavin seeks you. Its best we leave this woman alone and meet the Marshal."

The man frowned but nodded his head nonetheless. He then walked away with the man but no after he turned back and said, "Doctor Rivera, make sure this works. I'll be putting in more resources for you."

When she heard him say that, the doctor's eyes widened in glee, she nodded her head as she looked at the man disappearing. She smiled and started cackling like crazy, she then pressed herself on the glass tube and stared at the child inside with mad obsession in her eyes.

"Those fools! HEhehehehehehEHEHEheEHEhe!!!!!!!"

"They will never understand my true purpose!! They will never understand what I truly aim!!! They are fools, fools who think they have power! HAhahahahaHAHAha!!!!!!"

Her mouth started drooling as she looked at him with madness.

"Hehehehe… Soon, my child. We will conquer this world together…"

Looking at the abnormally large phallus on the child, her mouth drooled even more. She slowly took off her skirt and started pleasuring herself, continuously muttering, "Shavus, Shavus… My beloved son… When will you be born? I cannot wait for long…."

Her moans and sighs of pleasure could be heard as she imagined herself and the child having incestuous relationship with one another.

She felt that she would not wait for long.

The man looked at the armored man infront of him, he bowed his head.

"Marquis Equine, what are the news of your experiment? Is any one of them having a breakthrough?"

The man looked at Arshavin and sighed. "No, my lord. But there are countless labs and researchers on the brink of breaking through their studies, once they perfect the cure that they are creating, we can finally end this world from pain."

Arshavin looked at him and nodded his head, he looked out of the window as Equine saw that his arm was gone. His eyes widened in surprise.

This man was the general of the Crown, a powerful and ruthless man with intelligence and wisdom that could lead armies of hunters. Yet this same man was injured by someone?

'But there are countless God's Blood in the Crown… Why hasn't he taken one to regain his limbs back?'

Arshavin knew that the Marquis was looking at him, he looked at his right arm and touched it, the reason why he didn't take in God's Blood?

'My limit is coming. Too much of it is coursing through my veins and if I add a little more, then I'll really go completely insane.'

His red eyes glowed under the dark as he looked at the window. He calmly stood up and nodded his head, he had come here to check if the cure for the disease was done but seeing that none of the researchers were able to create a cure yet again, he thought of just leaving the frontline entirely.

He couldn't die just yet, not until his sovereign died. The Crown needed him to lead their army, to lead them to the right track.

'There are already countless nobles trying to usurp the throne… They didn't even care if the pandemic that had lasted for 30 years and maybe even more has not ended… The Crown only wants to protect the people under them so why are these greedy assholes making trouble for the Crown? Do they not know that the reason they are still alive is because of the Crown? Ungrateful bastards…'

The Marquis could feel anger rising from Arshavin and knew that he was mad about the nobles. He sighed but couldn't do anything about it. He was the only one left behind from the old generation of nobles, his enemies, friends, partners and such had already gone insane or died.

He knew that the young ones of the current generation had not yet truly felt how bad the situation really is. They must be thinking that everything is alright because the Hunters and the Army is still there.

They did not think that the moment they try to dethrone the Crown, the person who had led them along with the First Hunter, will be the moment that the entire Arkvem City will be thrown into chaos, more and more beasts would appear because of the chaos, possibly monsters would appear as well.

Maybe even the gods…

He shook his head and sighed, he felt that the current generation would be the reason why the place that he and all the old generation were desperately trying to protect would be razed down to the ground.

All their efforts would be lost in vain.

That was what Marquis Equine was afraid of the most.

'There are a lot of talented young people, but not enough for our City.. I have to quicken the research about the virus and find someway to cure it or create something that could prevent our citizens from turning into beasts or monsters by the virus.'

Arshavin then got up, "Okay, thank you for telling me this. Do let me know if there is a success in the experiment."

Equine nodded his head as he looked at the lonely back of the genius that the Crown had trusted.

Unknowingly, they had been putting pressure on the young man.

He sighed and looked out of the window, they might have been speaking for a few moments, yet he wished that it would last longer, he wished that he could tell the young man that it was fine to rest for a while, that it was fine to just close ones eyes and let himself go from all the burden and pressure that they are placing on him.
