As soon as Soren saw the cats, her heart was filled with excitement, but there was a hint of trepidation. Due to her various allergies, she was never allowed to own pets, let alone approach a colony of cats. What if they didn't like her? What if they attacked? Shaking her head free of those negative thoughts, Soren took her first step towards greeting the cats. Picking up speed, she allowed her advance to shed the last of her fears. As she reached the cats, various furry faces turned to her presence, then resumed their previous disinterest.
Soren's mouth gaped at the disregard, she wasn't used to being flat out ignored. Normally it was HER doing the ignoring!
"Here . . kitty kitties?" Soren said enticingly, thinking thats how people normally lured felines. It didn't work. Some of the more prideful cats even turned around lazily, removing the annoying human from their illustrious gaze. Soren sat down in a moment of weakness, her face downcast before trying again.
"Here kitties. . . please. . .let me pet you?"
When she got no response again, Soren collapsed forward in defeat, wings fluttering in the air readjusting to her descent. face planted against the grass, Soren tried to muster up the courage to try again. Weakly attempting to raise her head, her hair shielded her face as she weighed her options. Giving up, Soren's torso flopped on the grass again. She didn't think she could handle another rejection.
After a few more moments with her nose in the ground, Soren finally got on her hands and knees. With resignation, she shoved her hair out of her face and froze in shock. Every single cat was staring at her. Hundreds of luminescent eyes measured her as they sat behind a gloriously fluffy white, gold, and black calico. Startling Jade eyes, level with Sorens kneeling gaze, haughtily stared with a regal poise. The cat slowly took its giant paw and booped Soren on the nose.
"You have sucessfully Tamed a Temple Cat"
The System Alert rang in Soren's ears as she collapsed back on her butt in surprise. Immediately after, every cat but the one she "Tamed" resumed their previous disinterested business. Her new companion padded over and squeezed its large body onto Soren's lap, before rolling over coyly in contentment. Soren bemusedly looked down and threaded her fingers in the plush belly fur, and marvelled in the once foreign sensation of petting an animal. As her eyes danced over the cat in wonder, Soren finally said, "Well i guess you need a name, are you a boy or a girl?"

With a sniff, the cat rolled off and stepped away with its tail held high, proudly showing off it peach fuzzed dignity.
"Boy then!" Soren stated in a rush, glad to know at least that much about animals.
"What to name you. . .how about King Meow?"
Soren confidently delivered, thinking how the other cats seem to defer to the giant calico. He didn't look impressed, turning his furry chin up while whipping his tail in agitation. The message was clear, don't say something stupid.
"Okay, okay. . " slightly chagrined, Soren got more thoughtful as she started stroking the cat appeasingly. Inspired by how the cat had booped her nose with one paw, she thought of the Japanese waving cat souvenirs.
"I'll call you Maneki."
"Naming sucessful"
Soren hears, as the newly dubbed Maneki shoved his head against Soren's hand in approval. Soren's face broke into the largest smile she's ever had, gathering Maneki back onto her lap for more petting. Soren can't help but think of how awesome this game already is, and she's barely even started! Basking in the sun, and actually petting a cat (albeit a 25lb cat). . .the only thing that started her from the peaceful setting were the loud voices coming from the temple steps down below.
"Did you see that? That noob must be a crazy cat lady irl"
"Is that a tamer? Thats pretty rare. . .wonder why she tamed a cat"
"Whoa a fairy! Thats the first one I've seen since the update! I wonder what abilities she has!"
Voices ranged from downright rude to admiring, overlapping to an irritating buzz in Soren's ears. Silently she stood up, carrying Maneki in her arms, and walked past the curious onlookers down the steps to town. Walking by the most obnoxious one, Maneki adjusted to look over Soren's shoulder and viciously swiped the air towards him while hissing. Soren hurried her pace when she heard that particular person approaching in response.
"Hey wait cat lady, does your house smell too much like cat pee and that's why you're onliiiiiiii-"
Soren whipped her head around at the yell and series of clangs, eyes wide as the brute bounced down the stairs. With a crash, his heavily armored body looked quite dented. As he uttered a small moan, his body started to sparkle until it disintegrated into shards of light. With a stupified shrug, Soren continued steadily down the steps. As she was passing by the wreck landing, she spotted something glinting in the cracks of cobblestone.
"Ooh how lucky!" she happily exclaimed while picking it up, "A silver coin!"
A much more merry pep in her step, Soren jauntily walked off, leaving some rather shocked folks behind.
