Chapter 4 - The Beginning

Chapter 4 - The Beginning

A white carriage with four guards riding horses around it, where it can easily be imagine that it was owned by a noble man due to its insignia, was moving and going to (Dahar Village), and inside was a middle aged man with black hair seating with his legs crossed. He was holding a white paper full of names who had the potential to become mages. He was scanning the names with his brown eyes while squinting as he reads them.

"Hamilton Family (3), White Family (2), Cobb Family (3), Falmas family (1)..."

He was reading them one by one with a low voice as if he was whispering to himself.

After reading them and knowing who he needs to go to, he put the paper on the inside pocket of his white long coat with feather on its collars, and on the ground he took out a black sphere from a purple pouch bag that had a size of a bowling ball and held it with both hands.

This black sphere was so shiny that not even a speck of dust could be seen on it, it almost looked like it has been cleaned every single moment of every day.

"Is that what I think it is Sir Rudolf Von Eel?"

Said by a man in front of him, who looked like an attendant who was wearing a gray shirt with sleeves that reaches the end of his forearm.

"...Ahh, what is it? Ahh yes. This is the [Creed's Sphere] II."

Replied by Sir Rudolf, as he was almost lost in gaze at the sphere's elegance.

"Ahh.. So sir that's the new mana reading equipment that was newly innovated?

"Mana Reading Equipment?! Don't insult this master piece! This is more than just a version two of the old sphere! This innovation life changing - no, it is societal changing! This can fix all the problem that we have so far."

The [Creed's Sphere], was a mana reading equipment that has been used to read the mana count of an individual to detect his or her potential in terms of using magic. It was used to set the standards of the kingdom's mages to eliminate the weak and nurture the strong, and if and when you did not meet that standard, then that means that you are not qualified to be taught about magic. However, after many decades of using this method the main problem was discovered, or supposedly it has been given attention. Those who were deemed unqualified, most of them eventually became bandits, thugs, or most of the time, receiving illegal or underground missions to earn money since they were not fit to be mages which they prepared themselves their whole life, and because of this after a very long time [Creed's Sphere] II was innovated.

[Creed Sphere] II, although it still has the capability to read mana count, with the innovation of the equipment, it has now the capability to also detect attributes. For example if a person is not qualified to be a mage, the sphere will scan and count your martial attribute. Since this world is not a game, no person can see their own attributes as if there's a screen in front of their face, and so if the martial attribute is high enough then the sphere will recommend you to become a swordsman, or something of the same category. Same with being a smith, if a person has a high or standard smithing attribute, then the sphere will recommend you to become a smith.

"This Sphere will give people hopes to widen the variety of what they could be."

Follow up by Sir Rudolf, as he was pointing the newly found capability of the sphere.

After an hour and a half has passed, Sir Rudolf Von Eel and his company can see Dahar village from a distance. This village was so big that with common sense this should not be considered a village anymore, but rather a town. Although because this village was self thrived, but also at the same time this village can be found at the outskirts of the kingdom, no one bothered to consider changing the [Dahar village] name to Dahar Town.

After thirty more minutes on the carriage, they had reached the entrance of the village. The people were lively at the site of the nobleman's entourage and of course the man itself who was sitting inside the carriage. The people were excited not just because their children will potentially be appointed and recruited as mages, but also they heard the news about [Creed's Sphere] II new capabilities. They are excited to know their children's future.

The people where cheering as they stood at the pavement making way for the entourage to pass through. Their destination was on the village square where a lot of people were already surrounding it, as if they knew where Sir Rudolf and his company will make their stop to start the test.

Sir Rudolf Von Eel and his attendant unmounted from the carriage as they reach the village square. The four guards unmounted their horses and immediately went to side of the beam where Sir Rudolf and his attendant were suppose to walk and unmount.

Their Sir Rudolf saw a fountain at the center of the square where water was flowing and coming out from a stone jar that a statue female angel was holding.

(What a beautiful statue that is. I guess I will conduct the test in front of that fountain.)

Thought by Sir Rudolf who was mesmerized by the fountain which a mini rainbow was forming.

After a couple of moments, Sir Rudolf's attendant who was by his side standing in front of the fountain began to talk.

"Dear citizen of Dahar Village, we are here with the great Sir Rudolf Von Eel to conduct our mage test. However, as you all know, we had a previous problem before about young kids and young adults going rogue, if they do not manage to pass the mage test, but worry not. With the [Creed's Sphere] II that you all must have heard about, that chain of problem that we have for many decades before shall end today.]

As the attendant made his speech, the people of Dahar Village were ecstatic and cheering loudly. The parents and the children were all happy and excited to do the test, the village square was full of people encircling it like their was a concert, and a performer was in the middle of it. Then one by one, the attendant called the family names of those people that was on the list that Sir Rudolf had...

In the process, their were some successful readings, where some children and some young adults were recruited on the spot as mages, since their mana reading had met the qualifying standard, but among those people, one kid really stood out. As the family name Galust was called out, this young boy that has a black hair with a length that will touch the tip of his shoulder, who was wearing an extravagant greenish coat walked towards Sir Rudolf.

"Young boy, put one of your hand on the [Creed's Sphere], and pour mana into it and stay it like that for a couple of seconds."

Sir Rudolf gave a brief instruction to the young Galust kid as he waited for the results just like what he was doing so far, but to his surprise, the young boy has achieved something that a few has ever achieved so far. He was qualified for three attributes, and all of them were major attributes. On the [Creed's Sphere] it was shown as Staff [Magic], Sword [Martial] Shield [Vitality].

There are five types of attributes that were known to mankind,

[Magic]

[Martial]

[Vitality]

[Smith]

[Taming]

[Magic] attribute is an attribute that is represented by a Staff if you look at the sphere. When magic attribute appears, it means that you are qualified and has the capability to learn spells that are on Tier 4 or above depending on how much you train, but of course you will still need to learn Tier 1 magic before you advance to Tier 2 and so on. The Tier of every spells are categorized depending on the destructive power that it has. For example, a tier 1 fireball can penetrate and make a fist size hole on a tree, but a Tier 2 fireball magic can cut down a tree, while a Tier 3 fireball can turn a tree to ashes.

[Martial] attribute is an attribute that is represented by a sword, if this attribute appears on the sphere, this means that you are capable of doing martial art techniques. Whether if it's a sword, a knife, or even fist, the weapon depends on your capability or whether you can use it or not. For martial arts techniques, mana is not something that is relevant but rather [Ki] is something that you need. Just like mana, [Ki] depletes every time you use a martial arts technique. However, don't confuse swordsmanship to swordsmanship martial arts. Anyone can learn swordsmanship and be better at it in due time with practice, with an excellent swordsmanship alone, you can defeat even a mage if you caught him off guard, but an excellent swordsmanship without martial arts technique in a fair fight, can only defeat a Tier 3 mage at best.

[Vitality] attribute is an attribute that is represented by a shield. This attribute is all about defense, and if this shows in the sphere, it means you can cast defense spells that can save your life and others. This attribute still relies on mana but not to the extent like [Magic] attribute that it needs a large amount of it to be efficient in battle.

[Smith] attribute is an attribute that is represented by a mallet. This attribute is all about smithing, creating things like swords, knives, bows, or any kinds of weaponry from small to big. This attribute doesn't require [Mana] nor [Ki]. What it needs is a portion of intelligence from a capable person who does have an idea about weapons. This is the profession that most people who did not past the mage tests from before does. Although normally they find their talents with creating weapons when they became bandits or people doing business in the underground world.

[Taming] attribute is an attribute that is represented by a lions face. This attribute is normally used on taming horses, cows, goats and a lot of poultry animals. Normally people with this kind of attribute doesn't know how to fight, that's why in a normal circumstances, it will be hard to find people with taming attribute who managed to tamed a lion or a tiger or any other strong wild animals. The common jobs of tamers in the society are carriage drivers or shepherds.

Sir Rudolf Von Eel was truly caught of guard on what he witnessed. Two attributed person is a rare type already, but three? This kind of talent only comes once or twice every hundred years.

"Unbelievable! T-Three attributes?! Here?!"

Sir Rudolf did not deliberately mean on letting that thought be out of his mouth, but he was not able to stop himself, and instead he couldn't stop himself from asking the boy his name.

"Young boy, What's your name? and how old are you?"

"I'm Rein Galust old man, I'm still 14 but believe me, one day, I will be the strongest person in this continent."

Arrogantly stated by Rein Galust to Sir Rudolf Von Eel who did not say anything nor reacted anything to what the boy has said.

(If he trains hard and well, he could definitely be the strongest person of his generation, but as of right now, he is really arrogant. Though not like that is a bad thing. Fwohohoho!)

Thought by Sir Rudolf as the boy turned his back on him walking past the big crowd with a clear smug on his face.

After an hour more of examining those kids of every family and all their attributes, Sir Rudolf saw the last surname of on the list and it's also a familiar one.

"Falmas, come forward."

The attendant said with a loud voice reverberating through out the crowd.

Then an auburn haired boy with a fair white complexion, wearing a normal white shirt with black pants whose height might as well be 8 or 9 years of age walked forward. Since he's the last one and his surname was familiar, he thought of where does he heard the Falmas surname, but then of course he did not pay too much attention to what he thought as trivial matter.

"What's your name boy?"

Inquisitively asked by Sir Rudolf as he looked at the young frame of the boy in front of him.

He thought that the boy was too small, too thin, and too young to be here. He also thought slightly bad about the boys parents sending a young one like that to take a test that normally he could, no - would fail.

"Arthur Falmas is my name sir."

"Alright, you may start. Put one of your hand on the sphere and put mana into it."
