I slowly opened my eyes again, this time letting them adjust to the world’s newfound brightness. I peered around my surroundings, trying to get a quick understanding of my surroundings so I wasn’t walking blind.
Directly in front of me was a lake, calling it a pond would be a big understatement. It stretched out very far, to the point where I could not see the end. Next to the pond were what looked like very large oak trees and shrubbery a few inches smaller than me below it. If I were to guess then I am probably about 2 feet, 2 and a half feet tall. Further to my left was a big stone wall, looking around more I could see that this stone wall stretched very far in all directions.
'But it did look fairly natural, so it is less likely that something is being kept in here… maybe that meant no humans were here. Well, I shouldn’t be bothered unless I find an alpha predator. God that would be a complete disaster'. Turning around though, I noticed a nest of sticks, rocks, and leaves. ‘Might be some food here, I haven't eaten in so long’.
Stumbling forward with my legs I climbed on top of the makeshift nest and saw four eggs. One egg was a bright pink with blotches of yellow seemingly placed at random. I liked the colors, nice and happy compared to the confusion I was trying to ignore. The second was a dark black with rings of bright red, almost pink, a very edgy color scheme I will admit. The third, a grass green with swirls of orange, that color scheme got me to think about nothing in particular. All of these eggs were about half of my size. But the last and largest was almost the same size as me. Colored a deep Blue, with two circles of dark red right next to each other. It was not only the largest but also the strangest. It was torn open, one side was almost shredded completely.
The realization dawned upon me quicker then I would have expected, it was obvious that the unopened eggs were his new siblings and that the big one was my own egg. ‘Right… my own egg so all that time I spent was inside an egg’. Somberly I walked back into the egg and laid down, still confused about what to think about my own form. Back inside the egg I still could think I might wake up at any moment, remembering this is some weird dream I had. But now… I can’t deny it. ‘I am not human anymore… the sooner I come to terms with that the better’.
Standing up, I walked towards the river, noticing a rabbit with horns quickly dash into the large shrubbery. ‘Well great, a jackalope’ with a low grumble I got over to the lake. Looking down I could see my reflection staring back at me. My face wasn’t human but I already knew that. Instead, my head looked like a lizard's. My dark red eyes looked forward on my face to stare down at my reflection. My face and body were covered in large blue scales that had an inch of weaker brown hide beneath the scales. I figured I had Hide beneath my scales because there was a half-inch of hide visible in between impractically large scales. Each scale was just a tad too big that without the half-inch between each of them they would make me far less mobile.
Looking behind myself I made a note of my tail. It was about half the length of the rest of my body, the tip seems to be made of bone, but not sharp at all. ‘Not too useful for combat in front of me. Though anyone wandering behind me would be getting a clobbering’. Slashing the tail around for a minute I smiled, this body was not too bad. But it wasn’t to my liking perfectly. In all honesty, some wings or being bipedal would be great.
Feeling the inside of my mouth is very dry I realized that I hadn't eaten or drank anything since emerging from my egg. Lowering my head, I went and took a drink from the lake and thankfully it was not saltwater. But when I rose my head up I noticed a shadow in the water. I raised my head, having my thirst satisfied and a bit of fear from the shadow, lying in the otherwise nice and blue water. I turned around, noticing movement by the nest.

‘Are my siblings hatching?’ I attempted to run to the nest, but instead of running I fell on my face. ‘Son of a…’ I still lacked the practice to run on my current limbs, so I settled for a shambling walk. In a minute I got to the nest, just now noticing how out in the open it was. But instead of seeing a smaller version of myself emerging from their eggs I instead saw a strange green creature. It was looking at one of the eggs, holding the pink one 'he is holding one of my siblings...' the strange green creature didn’t even notice me.
A low growl came from my throat at first, catching the creature’s attention. It turned and saw me, fear was spread across its face. But the green creature’s eyes showed excitement. In its hand, there was a large stick with a sharp point. I ignored it, trusting my scales to keep myself safe.
I had felt more anger and adrenaline flowing through my veins then I had ever felt in my last life. ‘This thing wants my siblings… well, he can’t have them!!!’ I released a loud, high pitched shriek as I took an uneasy step to towards the goblin, slipping slightly.
I planned a bite, but I was off by a few inches and I fell to the ground on my side. The green creature looked scared after my roar but it had gained confidence after seeing me fumble. It lifted it’s wood spear and slammed it down, aiming for my hide. Too bad for it though because he hit my scale instead. But I guess that my scales were not as powerful as I thought because he pierced the scale. The only thing that stopped me from being skewered was its momentum being broken by the scale. My hide was strong enough though to withstand the rest of the blow.
This was my chance, I could get the upper hand on it right here and now. The creature jumped back, but I swung my tail and slammed it right into the creatures leg. With a loud crunch, the leg had shattered. Clumsily I attempted to stand up, but it took longer then I liked. Turning to face the creature I had fury in my eyes. ‘I damn you to hell!!! These are my siblings, NOT YOUR FOOD!!! even if I was human before... now I am the same creature as them!!!’. I took a step towards the creature, not stumbling.
It made one final attempt to save itself by throwing a spear at me, but it thumps off a scale, not even leaving a scratch. So, after reaching the creature I opened my mouth and chomped down on its head, at first the head didn’t even crack. Then I bit down again, and again and again. The creature screamed as loud as it could, trying to bite at me and claw me. Ignoring its desperate attempts to survive I kept biting down. After a surely agonizing minute for the creature, I bit through its skull and brain, killing it for sure.
After it’s death, I moved on instinct and devoured the creature. It tasted like sour pork with the meat being easily torn from the corpse. After I finished I felt tired, but now my stomach was full. I wasn’t sure why I ate the creature, it didn’t look that good, but it tasted better than nothing. ‘… Well, I thought things on earth looked gross but tasted good, guess it's just like that’.
Getting over my slight disgust about eating the green creature I looked at the pink egg it had tried to steal. ‘My siblings… I never had any before... this world is strange, in just a few minutes I have already seen a rabbit with antlers and this… goblin? Well, green skin, small body, thin arms, and pointy ears. A goblin if I have ever seen one’.
I yawned, this was all exhausting my brain. ‘Perhaps a little bit of sleep will do me well’. Rolling the pink egg back to the pile of others I layed down. ‘Right, my status screen… I haven’t looked at it since I got out… well, it has only been a couple of minutes since I got out. I doubt anything has changed… screw it. STATUS’.
Quickly a bright screen appeared in front of my vision. The following things were listed.
(Name: Glen
Level – 1
Biomass - 2
Skills: Rapid Development lvl (P), Roar lvl 1
Physical Aspects: Small Horn lvl 1, Weak Hide lvl 1, Weak Scales lvl 1, Claws lvl 1

‘Yep, just like I thou-oh, I have two biomass… Wonder how I got it… was it from the goblin? Maybe also a new skill, Roar… easy enough to understand. Plus some more physical aspects that I haven't seen before jumping out of the egg. Well, I figure out more tomorrow…. now for sleep’. Closing my eyes, I relaxed and drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
