/Alright you have slept enough, get your lazy lizard butt up/. Five more minutes… ten more minutes. On second thought go to hell. /Lizard, I have a little job for you. If you do well I might give you a little prize/. Prize you say? Alright, you have my attention.
Rising from my sleeping position I stretched while waiting to be told what this mission was. /I want you to go into the forest and find things that are alive. Then unalive them and bring them back here for me. Simple enough?/. You never told me what my prize was. Well, I'm already up so I guess I have nothing better to do.
With sleep now banished from me by this tree, I set out on my QUEST!!! Not a very good quest but it is better than nothing. Maybe I will find some massive magical monster and get a huge reward.
As I walked through the forest I noticed a lot of animals. Large spiders up in the trees, small crickets chattering away before spraying acid at other bugs. I think that I even saw a bird twice my size flying above the treetops. It ended up taking a half an hour to find my first prey. A large gray wolf was walking through the woods. When I say giant, I mean it. If I were to stand on two legs I still wouldn’t reach its shoulder. Thoughts about how I could kill this giant flooded my mind. MUHAHAHAHA, my first prey. OUR BATTLE WILL BE LEGENDARY!!! As quickly as possible I bolted at the wolf. Swish, thunk I got knocked back before I could even jump at the wolf.
During my flight, I even managed to hit a tree, lucky me. Right after I hit the tree I felt a bolt of pain surge through my leg. Wait no, I’m the protagonist or some shit. I am supposed to get hit but then make a cunning come back. How am I supposed t- Ah!!! This leg really hurts. As I squirmed around, trying to get up without hurting myself more, the wolf seemed to get annoyed with me. I guess I was beneath it though as it walked away without a second thought.
Damn you wolf!!! Give me a few more episodes or chapters or whatever and I will be back to kick your butt. Well for the time being I am stuck on the ground. When I tried to stand up, pain. When I tried to crawl with my other legs, pain. Turns out I do not enjoy breaking my bones. I really hope bone breaking is not good training in this world. If so then I choose to stay weak.
After a few very, very long hours the sun was setting. I was still stuck here, the pain in my leg only feeling a little better. Damn it, this total regeneration is bullcrap, system explain!!! [Increase System Level to Access the Help Feature]. I really hate this system sometimes. Might as well give me a status report.

Ooh more biomass. If only I knew what I could use that for!!! GAH!!! Nothing I can even do until this bone heals up. With that thought, I decided to totally ignore my safety and I went to sleep.
I woke up to the sound of sticks cracking. Craning my sleepy head up I saw a pair of bright gold eyes staring back at me. Under the light of the moon, I could also see that the pair of golden eyes also had orange fur. Creepy but I guess that I've woken up to worse on earth.
With only a second of processing, I jumped at the creature in front of me, feeling no pain from my leg. Instead, the only thing that I felt was from my claws sinking into the golden eyed creatures skull. It began to squirm around, screaming its head off. Damn, Ii was hoping it would die fast. Sorry about this little guy or girl. I lifted one of my claws out of its head. This time I cut open its throat, causing the little creature to go limp. HAHA!!! I have my prey!!! Time to go and get my reward.
It took me a while to find the path I took. Once I found it though then it was just a half hour walk back to the tree. /Oh my you really are alive. I thought that you went and got yourself eaten, I guess my lazy lizard is a bit stronger than I thought/. Wow for once I am glad that she can’t hear me. I sincerely tell you birch tree, go turn yourself into a table.
I have to admit that I felt good about succeeding in my mission. Even if this tree didn’t appreciate me as much as it should. Gimme my reward, gimme my reward, I want a reward!!! I felt like the tree had completely forgotten our deal, after all I just got back and there was no reward I could see. I hadn’t even eaten the fox on my way here, not one bite. /Oh, you must want your reward. Sorry, little lizard, for as cute as you act sometimes no reward can be given. I already made some monsters. It should be back with i-here it is/.
With an angry expression, I turned my head and saw something straight from a nightmare. A giant spider, the same size as me was walking towards the birch tree. It was dark brown with the ends of its legs being a brighter green. Behind the spider was something encased in webbing. I hate spiders, so weird with their sticky webs and their big fangs. A new voice appeared in my head after it reached the birch tree.
This new voice spoke no words, instead, it was just a general feeling sent into my head. The spider had done the same job as me, but it did the job better. /Oh my gods a wolf. You are such a good little spider, this wolf should be a better base than that fox for my new creature. I will be sure to give you your reward once you grow a bit more/.
A strange ticking sensation began to form in my back. A mixture of frustration anger and annoyance. It felt like something was both being broken and healing at the same time. This spider was going to take all the glory because he brought back a wolf. I am going to kill that spider. I broke my leg, healed it in less than a day and all that I get is a sorry. Not good enough!!! With a humph I began to walk away, I didn’t want to be around this tree.
/Oh you're leaving. In that case, make sure to come back with something better than a fox/. Ah, that is what I was forgetting. Walking over to the fox I began to eat it. As I eat the fox I began to calm down. Once I was finished I felt tired. Not the kind of tired you feel after a long day at work. It felt more like . /Hm, you truly are weak. You hadn’t left the dungeon for more than a few hours and your already exhausted. Ah well, best not to let my only other monster die, come sleep again/.
Curse this body. I really didn’t have much of a choice, with a tired mind I walked over to the tree, laying at its roots I closed my eyes. This was not what I wanted out of my new life. I am going to make this birch tree value me, no not value, need me. I will become the strongest dragon, then I will send that spider to hell.
