Some of the crew shrugged, then went back to their chores.
“You forgot boys, and girl!” A female voice yelled from the rigging above them. They looked up and watched as the woman slid down and did a frontflip onto the deck in front of them. “Second in charge, Keelan Uridia, at your service.” She did a small bow then straightened up. Her purple eyes were like none Anarchy had ever seen before. Her dark brown hair was tied in a ponytail and she smelt of sea salt and fresh ocean breeze. The two seductresses just looked over at each other and smiled.
“To Saragah, Miss Uridia.” Sinnera said with a formal tone.
“Aye aye captain.” She said with a smile towards Anarchy.
“I think she likes you Arc.” Anarchy just stood, mesmerised by the strange beauty of the specimen before her. Keelan turned and began shouting commands to the crew as she ran up to the large wooden steering wheel. Anarchy’s eyes watching intently. “And you’re out of it, ok.” Sinnera stalked over to the captain’s cabin and opened the door.
They spent a long three days and four nights on Medusa before they reached the golden shores of Saragah. It was an island big enough to be considered a continent. It was also home to the majority of Sorceren. People and beings trained or gifted with certain magical abilities. Vampires also fall under this title, along with thousands of others. The island consisted of many different landscapes, all of which had their own seasons. The land itself was governed by Sorcery, so the soil, rocks and plants, moved to the power of the Sorceren on them. For example; Baladain, which is one of the smaller lands of Saragah, is a dark and dangerous place where no light is shed, and an eternal night lingers. It is like this because of the Shadow Casters that live within it. They are taught in darkness, therefore the land around them is also dark. The land adapts to make its species stronger. Simple.
Where the international trade and travelling dock was situated, was on a tropical part of the massive land. It was more suited for the rich and wealthy that traveled in and out of this major area regularly. This was where the smaller ships came in and traded goods or dropped off passengers, huge shipments of supplies or weapons in large numbers came from a dock that was located on the shore of the land next to this one. It was located away from this port to keep aesthetic value for the expensive people that passed through, as the other port was significantly uglier. It was also three times the size of this dock, with much bigger ships.
There were smaller docks around the entire island, leading to all of the other lands specifically, but this one was the most well known. And safe. Sort of. It ran nearly two kilometers down the length of the bustling paradise known as Teisian. A land that was as keen to the eye as it was to the pocket.
“Teisian huh?” Arc said as she leaned on the railing next to Sinnera and tightened her left bracelet.
“Oh you noticed, I thought you would be spending too much time screwing the first mate to see that huge hulking mass over there.” Sinnera said with a hint of anger.
“Sin. Are you jealous?” The dark haired girl said with a smile as she put a hand on her hip and turned to face her partner on the right.
“Jealous. Of her? In your twisted little dreams Anarchy.” She snapped at her.
“Yep I hit a nerve.” Her lips parted, about to say something sarcastic, then she stopped. She watched as Sin’s crimson hair whipped around in the breeze. It chose to take a natural wavy shape. Which reminded Anarchy of the ocean below them. Rising and falling. The midday sun gave radiance to the silkiness of it, much like the bright slithers of light that danced on the peaks of the water.
Sinnera turned to her, a motion of grace, and raised an eyebrow. “What are you staring at?” She half yelled, through a fresh gust of wind that blew a strand of red across her face.
Arc moved a little closer. “Call me a psycho maniac,” she brushed the strand from Sin’s golden eyes, “but I think I’m in love with you.” She gave a warm smile that her partner was confused at. They stood for a moment, gazing over one another, perceiving each other's appearances.
“You’re a psycho maniac.” Sinnera said then she turned on her heel and walked off, like she had just won a hundred gold pieces in a drinking challenge against a six foot muscle man. Anarchy watched her waltz off, biting her lip. She then ran off to trail behind her companion.
“Why exactly are we in Teisian anyway?” Anarchy said, watching a pair of men heave a barrel onto another, still following in Sin’s step as they stalked across black wooden decking.
“I need to, intimidate someone, for a bit of information.” Sinnera explained with her business-like tone.
“So we are either, bashing someone, murdering someone, or destroying valued personal property, which includes humans, or all of the above.” Anarchy counted on her fingers.
“Good, you are learning.”
“You know you are not my teacher anymore, you can stop with the boring formal voice.”
“Once a teacher. Always a teacher. You should know that Anarchy. Besides, you are still learning.”
“Come on Sinnera. Where did the fun version of you go? You remember the days when we murdered innocent lives, set fire to cattle, stole rich men’s wives?”
“Those days are over, I have more important matters at hand.”
“I want Sin back.” Anarchy stopped and crossed her arms like a temperamental child. She turned and looked at the crew shuffling about the deck. Sinnera stopped, clenched her fists. The corner of Arc’s mouth tilted up slightly. Sinnera turned and walked slowly back to her comrade. “This is why I moved out.” Arc added.
“I’m like this because you moved out.”
Anarchy turned her head slightly and raised and eyebrow. “What the?”
“When you left, I fucking broke down in tears. You completely wrecked me.” Sin whisper yelled.
Anarchy was shocked. “You kicked me out?” She said with a confused tone.
“Yeah but I didn’t think you would actually go. It was fucking ridiculous. You’re fucking ridiculous.” Sin turned and began walking away when Anarchy caught her right elbow.
“Now I think I might actually have to kill you.” She said with a touch of anger in her voice.
Sin spun and had Anarchy hanging by the throat, two feet off the ground.
“You already killed me.” She growled through baring teeth. Her expression, torn by hatred. She looked straight into Anarchy’s blue eyes for a long moment. Then dropped her, turned and continued on her original path.
Anarchy stood. Completely unphased. “Shit. This is gonna be a long journey.” She started on the same path as Sinnera. As she observed the crew, no one seemed to care about what had just happened, they just went on with their chores. “If only I knew what we are doing?”
Sinnera was talking to Keelan, who was steering the ship when she caught up with her. They seemed to be in a heated conversation about the dock and some important people. Anarchy looked over at Saragah while leaning against the railing on the top deck. She thought of all the possibilities as to why they would need to go there. Sin had thousands of contacts and friends in Saragah, but she also had an equal amount of enemies and hunters trying to kill her on the same island. All over the world in fact. Everyone was after her. Heck, even Anarchy was told to kill her.
Both her and Sinnera are Devil’s Advocates. Assassins for Satan himself, though they only killed highly revered people like kings and queens or lords and ladies. Just to stir up a bit of trouble for the Devil to get a kick out of the mortal world. Sometimes he would put his own Advocates up against each other, this usually happened when he had too many of them under a contract at once. He was only allowed up to six, right now he had seven, so one had to die. Seeing as these assassins are the best killers, he put them up against each other. Anarchy knew that if she fought Sinnera, she would die. Sinnera is the embodiment of blood and fear after all. Her mortal appearance was aesthetically appealing on the eye, but it didn’t do justice to her godly title. Her true name.
Sin.
“Oi. Ana.” Keelan got her attention. “We are heading into dock, so make sure you’re ready.” Sinnera had walked off and was shuffling around some papers at the very back of the top deck, about ten odd meters from Keelan. Arc was not even aware of the worried look on her own face until Keelan spoke again. “Hey. Come here.” Anarchy wandered over. “What’s eatin ya?”
“Um, nothing in particular.” She hesitated.
“Well that doesn’t seem like the case.” She looked at Arc then back to the ocean ahead of her. They were fast approaching the dock. Long piers stretched out from the main structure like teeth on a metal rake. Hundreds of ships were moored, either being loaded, unloaded or repaired. Waiting for their captain to return, or their passengers to arrive. Keelan steered Medusa towards the east port. Which was more suited to travel, the west was for supplies. “You really worry about her don’t you?”
“No. Maybe. No I don’t. She can handle herself.” Arc said defiantly. Having her own emotional war.
“I’m not worried about her.” The ship naturally glided through the first part of the pier with ease as the crew lowered the sails. There were lookouts positioned on tall posts, guiding new arrivals into a free dock. A red flag was signalling to the right, Keelan waved in response and turned the wheel slightly to the right. The ship obeyed, slicing through the calm waters. “Sinnera knows where her heart lies.” A dozen paddles came out from each side of the ship after she yelled a command. The ship was guided by Keelan’s instructions before it made it swiftly into a dock and came to a halt. Anarchy waited for her to finish her commands, so she could explain her point. “Your emotions are the ones that need some conclusions, Ana.” She said, relaxing her body against the wheel and putting her left hand into her pants pocket.
“I don’t know how to win that fight.” Anarchy said, returning her guise to worried.
“Bah! Emotions are the easy bit. I find wielding my knife at dinner hard enough, let alone a sword.” They shared a laugh, which seemed to ease the tension in Arc’s shoulders.
“It's not easy for a vampire to understand feelings though, we are drawn to every type of sexual pleasure, which is not far from love I guess.”
“True, but love and sex are miles apart if you can spot the difference.”
“Is there a potion for that? Maybe a book? Spell even?”
Keelan laughed and Arc smiled. “Nah. Love is more powerful than any spell. You’ll know it when you feel it.”
“Thanks Keelan.” She turned and looked at Sinnera for a few good seconds. She was shoving papers into a pouch on her belt. I felt it alright. Sin turned around, put her hands on her hips and looked at Anarchy with a ‘yeah right’ expression.
After Sin instructed Keelan to take Medusa back to Jrac, the two vampires said their goodbyes and headed off on their objective.
“So where are we heading?”
“Gods, you’re like a phoenix hatchling.”
“I’m cute and on fire?”
“No you’re an annoying, hot little shit.”
“Well at least I’m hot.”
“Hot headed.” Sin loudly mumbled.
“That’s mean.”
They argued the entire way through the Gateway to Teisian. Which was a fairly busy place, markets around these parts sold high value goods. The floors and pillars were made of a certain white polished stone, which Arc expected to have magical properties. The Gateway was a huge hallway-like structure that was built to shelter the markets on either side and allow carts and revered people plenty of room to walk in the middle. Just about every edge of a structure was lined with gold trimming. Real gold. Guards in shiny armour stood on every possible corner. Fully armed and fully trained to kill. Anarchy winked at one and a sour look invaded his face.
“Sheesh, these guards mean business.”
“Don’t get on their bad side, these guys are actually trained well.”
“Oh really?”
“Don’t you dare Anarchy. I need to talk to their general, so don’t even think about messing with them.”
“Fine. Killjoy.”
Sin spun around with enough speed to create a small gust of wind. Arc stopped. She then noticed something just behind her dark haired companion and in an inch of a second, Sin threw her hoodie over her head and kissed Anarchy. Throwing her arms around Arc’s neck so her crimson hair couldn’t be seen. Anarchy got the memo and wrapped half of her coat around Sinnera’s black blade on her left thigh.
A group of men fully armed in black apparel and weapons thudded past them. Once they were a good distance away, Sin pulled back, looked at Anarchy’s bright eyes, then down at her lips. She ran her thumb across them, as if she was savouring the taste. She then made a suggestive ‘hm’, turned and continued walking.
“Um, what the fuck?” Anarchy just stood there while Sin disappeared into the crowd.
Sinnera slipped through the people and carts, tailing the group of men. She watched as they whispered amongst themselves while on their way down the long road to the palace. She kept her black hood just over her eyes, still able to determine her surroundings. She knew that they saw straight through her disguise, so she followed them, knowing what they wanted. The whole group ducked into a side street and into another until they soon reached a space big enough for a battle and clear of people. There was no perfect polished stone here. Only red dirt and cracked walls. This was clearly one of the poorer parts of Teisian.
Sinnera walked around the corner and slowly walked out as she observed the line of men standing before her. Her left hand slipped smoothly over the leather wrapped handle of the curved blade secured to her left thigh.
“Sinnera Vinella Delanorin!” The man on the right end sternly yelled with a deep voice and a hint of accent. All men ripped out their weapons and stood in fighting positions. Moving in unision.
Sin slid her other hand onto the red blade strapped to her right thigh. “That’s embarrassing.” She said to herself. “How are you doing Saneer?” She yelled back at him.
“Give us back the twin blades!”
She ripped the two weapons from their sheaths and held them backwards, along her forearms. The area around her exploded with red and black magic. The walls around them darkened and the atmosphere went into a deathly chill. A yellow glow emitted from beneath her dark hood and the corners of her perfect lips curled to form a petrifying grin. The magic quickly retracted and began slowly climbing through the veins in her elegantly crafted hands. Then she spoke. A seductive echo of extinction. An invisible icy touch that ran up the spines of each man ahead of her.
“Come get them.”
They dived forward. Each of them clinging to their weapons for dear life. The first plunged their pike forward. The blade flew off of the long pole and stuck into the wall five meters to the left. She deflected the rest of the lengthy handle with her right weapon and spun around with her left. He was then on the ground, decapitated. The next threw one of his swords into her left parry and aimed the second at her mid torso. She flipped the blade in her right hand so she was holding it correctly. His hand came off before the cold metal even touched her. She knelt on one knee. The third brought a claymore down on her almost instantly after and she flipped her right blade back then crossed both weapons over above her head. The lean muscles in her body tensed beneath her golden skin. She sliced straight through the solid metal sword. A weapon that had taken months to smith into an instrument of destruction. Cut clean in half. She pulled her blades further back and propelled herself forward. Tearing through the thick muscle of the warrior’s upper arms, the bone, the abdomen, ribcage, lungs, heart, then spine. Both blades crossed over and ran through the same path. Blood erupted from his halved corpse and exploded in all directions.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
She stood. Scarlet dripped off of her leather and silver. The air was still. The crisp, sweet smell of of a fresh kill filled her lungs as she breathed in deeply. She exhaled. Condensation making her breath visible to the eye. She slowly licked her precious lips. “Saneer? Would you like a go.” He stood inches from her. Shaking. Totally covered in blood and paralyzed from the massacre before him. She brought her right hand to his chest, still clutching the blade. His eye twitched. She extended her index finger and applied a little pressure. He fell to the ground like a dropped wooden plank.
“Didn’t think so.” She said as she sheathed her weapons. After she did so the world around her returned to its red dirt and cracked white walls. She took her hood off and looked to the blue sky. Only noticing now that it was a nice day to be out. “Hmm.” She fell to her knees. A dark figure covered her vision. As her eyes adjusted to the shade, she could make out the sapphire eyes and frown of her companion. “Oh. Hi.”
“You. Are a delinquent.” Anarchy said with her hands on her hips.
“That’s a wee bit harsh, don’t you agree?” Sinnera said, dazed and delusional. Her body swayed.
Arc crouched down and looked at Sin with disappointment. “Why can’t you just use a normal pair of daggers like everyone else?” She picked up Sinnera’s wrists and observed the black veins, which lead to just below her elbows. The darkness was slowly dissipating, three times slower than it grew. Anarchy looked around and there were no bodies on the ground, except Saneer who was now unconscious. But Sin was still covered in far more blood for just one man.
“We should go on a holiday...hic.” She managed to get that whole sentence out.
Arc’s mouth dropped. “Are you serious?” She dropped her wrists and grabbed Sin’s jaw. “You’re fucking drunk.”
“Language young lady.” Sin waved a finger in Arc’s face as she mumbled the words then laughed. “Hic...oops. That wasn’t part of the speech okay? He he he...”
“You are so dead Delanorin.”
“Eww I hate that name. Hic. It was my mummy’s.” Sin shakily stood up, wobbled, then threw her hands in the air. “Catch meeeee! Hic.” She then fell towards her partner.
“Oh shit.” Anarchy rose and scooped Sin up on the way. Heaving her over her right shoulder. “Come on you drunk, time for a bath.”
Sin was singing tunes all the way to a bathing house, then all the way through her bath, and while she stumbled naked out the door. Anarchy dragged her back in, then shook the crap out of her. “Why in the bloody Hell are you still drunk?” She had Sin by her shoulders. Standing in the middle of a room made completely of dark wood. The tub of warm red water that Arc bathed her in was in the far right corner. A pile of wet towels and clothes was in the other. It was a medium sized space, with a small window in the middle of the back wall letting in enough light for the whole room.
Sin’s golden, glistening body swayed in Anarchy’s hands. She slowly looked down and realised the woman before her was completely naked, and totally vulnerable. The thought of taking advantage crossed through her mind, and lingered. As she looked down it became more tempting, then she looked back up to see her companion’s irritated face. “Anarchy.” The thought flew out of her mind like a deer that had just dodged an arrow. “Why am I naked?”
“Is this the bit where we have a hot, sexy bath together?” Arc said with a questioning tone and a goofy manner.
Sin threw her out the small window.
By the time they were back on the road to the palace, it was well into the afternoon and traffic had died down through the streets. Merchants were selling off what they could before they packed up for the day. Though, in truth, Teisian was a city that never slept. All through the night, celebrations and feasts were on all over the richer parts of the exorbitantly valued metropolis. Taverns were always full of drunks and more celebrations as many revered warriors stopped here to claim their rewards and boast of their extraordinary feats.
Anarchy was somewhat thankful for the last rays of sunlight that the afternoon provided. At night, all of her senses ignited, she became an animal. Sin was here though. Which was reassuring for her.
They padded along, finally reaching the biggest entrance that a palace could possibly have. Ginormous doors made from pure gold.
“Those are at least twenty times bigger than your gates.” Anarchy said while they stood at the bottom, staring up at the enormous barrier.
“I almost feel insignificant.” Sin said.
“Ma’am.” A guard advertised himself. Fully clad in golden armour and dark blue cloth.
“I need to see General Braxious.”
“Name?”
“Sinnera Delanorin.” Both girls noticed him flinch as she named herself.
“You may go straight through, ma’am.” He bowed slightly then turned to signal a guard on the top of the wall. That guard then pulled hard on a large metal lever that opened the huge entrance wide enough for the girls to walk through. When they emerged on the other side, their eyes were challenged with an even greater sight. The biggest structure on the land, the Teisian Palace. It was twenty times the size of Sin’s massive black castle and beyond exquisite in anyone's eyes. It was truly beautiful, crafted by the best builders gathered from far away lands. It stood tall and strong. Elegant yet vigorous. Made of eighty percent of the world’s gold...
“It’s so glorious, so lustrous, so enormously extravagant!” Anarchy raised her hands while ranting about.
“If I were a peasant. I would have just peed myself.” Sinnera said with a shocked expression.
Anarchy stopped and slowly looked over to Sin. She tried so hard to hold it in, but she just burst out in laughter instead. She was on the ground before Sin snapped out of it. The guards on this side of the gate were looking at them with half confused, half worried faces.
Sin helped Anarchy up. “Come on, we should get going.” She said through a smile. Anarchy slipped her arm around Sin’s back and Sin did the same. They walked up the palace steps, still in each other’s friendly hold. They instantly dropped arms just before they got to the top of the two hundred steps. “Sometimes I wish I was human, just to see if I would die from something like that.” She motioned her thumb over her shoulder.
“That nearly broke the vampiric exercise barrier.”
“Ha ha, you’re losing your edge Arc.” Sin implied.
“Hardly.” She turned and had a quick glance at the setting sun while they stood on the top step. “Sin.”
“I know, don’t worry.” She looked at the massive open hallway that lead straight to the King’s throne. Which from here, looked like a small speck at the end of the whole structure.
Giant pillars that held up the extremely high ceiling, led all the way down to the throne. The interior was decorated with, even more gold, and hundreds of different shades of blue. Long, thick banners hung down each pillar, and a huge carpet lead all the way down the middle. The floor was made out of a cerulean mineral. And more gold.
“Of all the years I have lived, I can say that I have never set foot in here.” Sin said looking up with a concerned expression as they began their walk.
“Thank the gods for that. This place was designed by an insomniac.”
“There are some species that don’t have to sleep.”
“Oh yeah, like what?”
Sin looked over at Anarchy with a raised eyebrow. “Us you dodo.”
“Yeah but we need sleep too.”
“Only every two days.” There was a long pause. “When did you last sleep?”
“Four days ago.” Anarchy said quietly after she cleared her throat.
“You have got to be kidding me.” Sin’s pace increased. “You are aware that your sleep patterns affect your beast state?” Her voice taking a serious tone.
“I know, I know. But it took me a few days to get to your place, and there were a pack of wolves chasing after me.”
“Wolves?” Sin turned her full attention to Arc. “There are no Wolves on my land?”
“Well there are, because there were.”
“No there isn’t. What colour were their pelts?”
“Caramel. But the main one was red.”
“Half man form or complete wolf?”
“Half-man, and damn they run fast. I almost used beast form to get away from them.”
“So you mean Werewolves?”
“Wolf, Wulf, Werewolves, what’s the difference, they’re all wolves?”
Sin sighed. “Ok. Time for a lesson.” She took in a deep breath. “A Wolf is just a large predatory dog which usually travels in a pack. A Werewolf is a half-man wolf-like creature that can shift into form at anytime it sees fit, it also travels in a pack, unless of course that person was kicked out of their pack for a dishonourable act. It is significantly stronger than a Wulf, pronounced ‘Walf’, which happens to just be a man infected with a curse that forcefully changes them into a large wolf on a full moon night totally against their will.” She breathed out, still walking.
“Oh.”
“Didn’t you study any of those books I gave you.”
“No.”
“You disappoint me.”
“Well, I’m sorry. I was too busy trying to hold my hunger down.”
“You still have troubles with that beast state of yours don’t you.”
“Not entirely. I can only control parts of it.”
“I know how to control it.”
They were almost at the end of their walk.
“They were Werewolves.”
“Tawniss. Or as I like to call them, Tawnies. They are quite a large pack of Werewolves with caramel coloured pelts. Their lieutenants usually have red pelts and their generals have brown pelts. They have a huge vendetta against me.”
“Why?”
“They had close relations to the Archers.”
“Oh shit.”
“They must know that you were trained by me.”
“Well they certainly seemed intent on killing me.”
“They will be tracking us down from now on, keep your guard up. Saragah happens to be the Werewolf homeland.”
“Lovely.” Anarchy sarcastically added as they arrived at the foot of the throne. The King was clothed in the finest blues that money could buy. He also had the most ridiculously large crown for how small and narrow his head seemed. Arc couldn’t help but grin. She had to restrain herself from laughing.
“Sinnera!” General Braxious bellowed as he stepped down from the side of the throne. “What brings you, and your beautiful companion, to the King’s fine palace at such a time as twilight?”
“Braxious. You look well my wartorn friend.” She said as she accepted his offered embrace.
“Wartorn. Hah! I’m barely touched by battle.”
“Spent more nights in taverns and brothels have we?”
“I would say no, but that would be a lie.” They shared a laugh while Anarchy wandered past them.
“Arc.” She half turned towards Sin. “Watch the time.”
“Gotcha.” She turned and walked closer to the throne and paused before the two massive tigers at the bottom. Their coats were both titanium white with the darkest of browns colouring their stripes. She shared the similar tone of sapphire, for their eyes. One got up and the thick chain connected to its huge gold collar, scraped along the polished ground. It came over to her, it’s paw silently landed near her right foot, but she felt the heavy vibration in the stone beneath her. It’s head was equal in height to hers. It leaned in and sniffed her face. Not seeing her as a threat, it sat, waiting for nothing in particular.
“Do you like him?” A deep voice came from above her.
She looked around, then up to the ceiling. “God?”
“Over here.” The voice was partially agitated.
“Oh, your highness. My sincere apologies, I thought it was someone else.” She did a small bow and dressed her face with the edge of a smirk.
“It is fine. Many people who see me, find that my voice is inaccurate, according to my outer appearance.” He spoke at a slower than average speed, but his low vocals were crisp and easy to the ear. It was true though, his voice did not match his features. “In regards to my question…”
She hesitated for a millisecond then remembered his enquiry. “Ah, yes, he is beautiful.” She looked into the feline’s eyes, which hovered above her now. “May I?” She lifted her hand as she asked.
“He won’t bite.” He gave a small laugh and watched as Anarchy offered her hand up at the tiger. It bowed its head and gently touched it’s nose to her pale palm. She slid her hand up his snout and buried her fingers into the smooth fur on the top of his head.
“Vicerous.” She whispered and his eyes glimmered for a moment. She seemed like she was in a trance. Unmoving, until Sin grabbed her elbow. Both her and the tiger looked at Sin and lightly growled.
“We need to go. Now.” She began to drag Anarchy away when she turned back and addressed the King. “Your highness. It is a divine pleasure to be in your presence.” She did a full bow.
“Likewise Lady Sinnera.”
“I do hope you can excuse my rude, hasty departure, but I am in a bit of a hurry.”
“Please, it is an honor to have you set foot on my land. Forgive me for not treating you.”
“All is well.” She began walking backwards. “We shall have a feast, in future.”
“Indeed. Salutations my good Lady.”
“Farewell, Wise King.” He gave a short laugh and a smile. On which she took the opportunity to turn and leave.
