Chapter 23

A few months came and went since Lily forced Lyana into becoming Zaraf’s servant. As it turns out she was half human as her father was human and mother was a vamp bat. This in turn grants a few extra abilities such as drinking blood to heal, extra strength per rank, speed, and stealth. So, her father began training her into an assassin before he was killed when Holy Union got word of her existing.

Luckily they don’t know her looks, name, or age only rumors. Which is why she joined the Ernst Institute hoping to gain power to destroy the organization. As for hating the male gender, she came across many bandits that attempted to have their way with her. So hatred of the males grew more she came across the male pedofiles.

Now, she follows Zaraf around as a servant awaiting her orders that she yet to receive. Sure she asked for small favors such as helping with cooking, cleaning, or helping the other girls. Though, anything more has not been asked or even mentioned. However, she began to leap in bounds when she joined them for training. As it turns out she has talent in blood and fire elements.

So, Lyana managed to become a peak three magus and recently broke into rank four warrior. However she is not the only one that made improvements, as Towa, Lily, and Delia improved also.

For Lily, she managed to become a mid rank four wind magus due to a few months of hard training. As for warrior side, since Saiyans are a warrior race, it comes easier so she managed to become a high rank four warrior. Which is impressive since it has yet to be a year since they arrived.

Towa on the other hand leans more towards magus side as she a high rank four magus and low rank four warrior. Wondering why, Lily asked her one day and as it turns out, demons male lean more towards warriors and females toward magus. How and why they are only finding out now, is because she hasn’t learned much magic before escaping. Sure cutting open time barrier is an option but here the time barriers are thousands times stronger.

Finally, Delia has made great progress in recent times that she says it almost unnatural. She has became a mid rank four magus and a mid rank three warrior. However since reaching rank four, it is taking longer to progress.

As for Zaraf himself, he managed to reach the peak of rank four warrior and mid rank four magus. Nodding at his progress he was a little happy, but kept pushing hard as he never knows what the future holds. He needed strength and power to protect Lily, Towa, Delia, and possibly help Lyana. A few rumors of the Radiate Church which runs the Holy Union wasn’t to his liking and a feeling they will come formed.

“System, is there a formation that collects the elements in the atmosphere making it denser and easier to practice?”

[Beep! There is currently two that fits your question.]

Looking over the formations summaries he noticed one isn’t going to work as collecting large amount of element essences is possible. Even with buying it from the system won’t work as he needs a hundred thousand per essence. So the other option is to collect seventy rank six or above magical cores from magical beasts.

The higher the core ranks are the better the formations, but they all have to be the same rank. If not the lowest core might cause the formation to explode. Anything inside the formation at the time will go with it as even a rank nine would have a hard time surviving. Agreeing to the formation idea, he bought it for a hundred points.

Storing the formation away for the time being as he nor the girls could fight a rank six beast. It also isn’t worth buying the cores as not many are willing to sell the cores. Not many people are able to climb the ranks as they get stuck around rank four or five due to bad training or conviction. As for not having the talent he doesn’t believe it as one only needs to train extra hard to match his affinities.

“Zaraf, are you ready for the end of year tournament?” Lily asked laying next to him.

They were sleeping in her room following their arrangement they began since arriving. Now since Lyana was their servants they don’t need to worry about her freaking out. The day has arrived for the tournament and only he was entering due to the girls not being interested. They were going there to watch him, but the tournament didn’t interest them or the prizes.

“Yeah, but I wonder if there even going to be a challenge? Most of those that can give us a challenge either graduated or teachers.” He groaned as he watched most of those who signed up for the event.

“Well at least it gives you some small entertainment and a break from training.” Lily said getting up from the bed. He watched her walk into her bathroom clothesless wonder when are they ever going to grow. Looking at a child body isn’t something he cares for.

“Are you coming?” Lily called from the bathroom.

“Yeah,” He said following with a sigh as being a child this long is slowly wearing him thin. He hasn’t even made it to twenty physically once in his life.

After enjoying the hot bath with Lily, and dressing his black short sleeve shirt and pants with black kung fu shoes and stockings. Around his trim of his clothes were a red trim making the outfit come alive. Sadly, every outside his small group looks at him a little strange as they all wear cotton or robes. So, he stands out which isn’t bad but the consent looks sort of get on his nerves.

“Zaraf, hurry up, the first match is starting in ten minutes.” Towa called from the living room.

“Let’s go,” He said as he joined the group of girls.

Heading towards the school arena, Towa stood on his left while Lily took the right side while Delia and Lyana were following closely behind them. Heading to an empty spot so they can watch the other fights, since they don’t break the contestants and audience apart.

Looking into the ring, he saw two boys looking around fourteen or so facing each other waiting to begin. On the right side wearing a blue robe a tall slim looking teen stood arrogantly staring down the opponent. Sensing his rank, Zaraf let out a disappointed sigh as it only a rank three magus.

As for his opponent wearing a brown robe, he was much chubbier than most Zaraf seen in this universe. However upon sensing the boy rank he let out a silent laugh as the boy was a rank three warrior and magus. How the chubby boy is a rank three warrior made him wonder if his body builds muscle differently.

On the outer edge of the ring an old man that seemed very familiar to him but couldn’t place it. He seems to be the referee for the tournament as far as he could tell as he was rank seven or eight. It was impressive but there was little chance of the man making it to Saint rank as he has one foot in the grave.

“Do you think you can win? I can sense a few around your level?” Lily asked.

“I believe so, but I doubt there will be a challenge since those that could won’t enter.” He replied after thinking it over.

They ended up waiting ten minutes before the matches began not they paid much attention after the first one. They were such a let down for the Dragonball trio that even the weak human on the earth were more entertaining. The two of them stood still chanting or moving around firing rank one or two spells.

The only saving grace was the chubby boy growing tired and charged the boy and body slammed him into the ground. Even then it was very anticlimactic as it took him fifteen minutes to do one body slam to win. The next few that came afterwards were boring as they were rank one or two.

A pair of ten years of old fought with both being rank two fire magus and only earned light burns before quitting. They said the pain was two much and quit yet everyone clapped as if they fought to save a village.

There was even a fight between an earth user and water user which was a bit better. They were a pair of sister, which he rate around average in looks. Though he is bias as Lily looks perfect in his opinion, due to his Saiyan side and traits. But they didn’t really stand out as they were only eleven or twelve.

That match ended in a double knock out as both ran out of stamina or mage force. Similar match happened afterwards, and the audience cheered as if the fighter were heroes.

“Now can I have Linley and Rollan on the field.” The old man called.

A brown haired kid hopped onto the field with a flat edge chisel while a red haired boy on the other end. Both of them were rank three magus, and warriors also which was surprising. However the red-haired boy looked like he has a score to settle with Linley but he couldn’t think of a reason. Than again he spends most of his time training with his small group he barely socialize with other students.

“Are you ready? When I win this tournament, Delia will be mine.” Rollan yelled at Linley who seems uninterested.

“Umm, who?” Linley asked since he was similar to the saiyan and training.

“Cute blonde girl in your wind class. She has blue eyes and considered one of the school beauties.” Rollan roared.

“Than won’t you have to beat Zaraf than?” Linley said causing the boy to flinch at the name. “He already beaten you hasn’t he.”

The red-haired boy went mute as he remembered being one of many stuck in the ground over the last few months. Many boys attempted to intimate him in staying away from her or the other girls he hangs around.

“Begin your match boys,” the old man got tired of the trash talk since in his opinion it was boring and sounded more like gossip.

Gathering flames around his fists, Rollan sprinted towards Linley which he side step the attack.

A groan came out of Zaraf as he watches Linley miss an opportunity to end his opponent. He could have stuck his foot out when Rollan passed and caught the boy by his face. Than slammed him hard into the ground knocking the boy out and ending the match.

Waiting for his opponent to organize himself, Linley sent a low kick to the boy knees. Jumping over the kick, Rollan quickly fired a small fireball to Linley head. Leaning to the side he began to get a little more serious which Zaraf shook his head.

Linley acts as if he has tons of experience in a fight, but he missing tons of openings or ways to end the match. He more experience in a light spar than fighting which isn't as good as it could cost him his life later. Which future arrogance he displays the longer the fight goes on.

It finally ends when Linley goes into a partial transformation as claws and scales appeared in patches. Both of them ended up being disqualified as Rollan in no condition to continue and Linley for nearly killing him.

The next few matches were between rank ones and one rank two. Sadly they stood still as they could move during casting. It seems none of them thought of dodging the opponent's spell or attack as if it won’t hurt them.

“Can Rodney and Zaraf come down to the arena.” The old man called.

“Good luck Zaraf,” Lily said kissing him on the cheek.

“Have fun,” Towa said patting his arm.

“Good Luck,” Delia said as she waved unsure what to do.

“Beat the wimp, Master.” Lyana growled.

Everyone around them sweatdropped as they listen to them and raised an eyebrow at the last one. Having servants weren’t uncommon but having one growl like some type of beast wasn’t common. So, ignoring the stares he hopped into the ring facing a familiar red hair and blue eyed boy.

It turned out to be the boy he smashed into the ground when he took the girls shopping. He began to wonder if he was the brother of Rollan earlier and if so, it wasn’t interesting. The boy must have recently broke through to rank three as his overconfidence is greater.

“I will beat you like a dog you are and Delia will love me.” He shouted which Zaraf raised an eyebrow.

The cheesy and villainous words he hears from the jealous boy were mostly the same. He began to wonder if he should start writing them down and number the time he hears them. The number should be well above a thousand or so by the time he returns to the DragonBall universe.

“At least my bite is as big as my bark.” Zaraf said in monotone earning the crowd roar of laughter. Though he could hear Lily or Towa groaning as they held their heads in their hands. He was a saiyan, so if he was anything it was part monkey.

“Er, ah I have been improving and I have become a rank three so there is no way you will win.” Rodney shouted.

“Is that so?” Zaraf said bored as the boy was a low rank three magus.

“Begin the match,” the old man said from the side.

Zaraf stood there as he watched as Rodney did the same as his assumed brother. He charged at him with fire in his hands and vicious smile as he aimed for the face.

With a bored expression, Zaraf simple side step the attack and stuck his foot out and trip the boy. However before he could fall, he grabbed the boy head and slammed it backwards. The match was over in seconds, but there wasn’t much of a cheer as only the group he arrived with.

“Err, Zaraf is the winner.” The old man called as he kept a close eye on the kid.

Hopping out of the arena he returned to the girls easily as the crowd split like a sea. Arriving at the girls, he wonders if it is time for them to go to the magical mountain. They needed experience in combat, while Lyana and Delia do. However he feels that he and Lily are getting rusty while Towa needs to up her fighting skills.

The following matches were between rank ones or twos and a single rank three. Zero rank four or higher entered it seems outside of him. Sighing as he blames it on his luck, he easily won the tournament by the end of the day. Everytime he stepped into the ring his opponent would forfeit making him sigh. He only lightly beaten the boy and they are acting like he killed an entire village.

Entering the Girl’s dorm, he sat with them for dinner. “So, I think it time for us to go to the magical beast mountain. We should be fine as long as we don’t step into nest of higher rank beast we can’t handle.”

“Hmm, we should be fine as we are rank four for the most part. We could probably work together and take down a rank five beast with planning.” Lily said.

“The school should allow us to leave since we are going as a team.” Towa said.

“Could be interesting in what we can find. Well outside of assassins and bandits that will attempted to rob us. Maybe we can find an expert or a treasure of sorts there if we are lucky.” Delia said with a shrug.

“Don’t know don’t care,” Lyana said as she was still the lowest rank out of them. She is able to fight a rank above her, but she still only rank three.

“Then we will tell the school tomorrow and leave in a day after. I will need to tell Dixie and give art sculptures that can be sold. Though don’t really need the gold it just something to do.” Zaraf said as he night to them and headed back to his dorm.

Inside he found Dixie emerging from his room from his recent breakthrough. He has managed to become a rank five after a week of trying. Though it also helped that Zaraf unlocked a few natural limiters on him making it easier. Thinking of limiters he should be able to break a few more of them.

System, what are the number of limiter am I allowed to break? He asked when he sat down in his room.

[Beep! It isn’t recommended as each rank will unlock seven in total. Currently Host needs to reach rank six before the next seven are broken.]

So, the ranks break the natural limiters, but why haven’t they been working on everyone? It is they haven’t broke the first one? He began to wonder as made a mental note to check others genetic field and comply data.

I also need to work on my time stop or hop ability. I haven’t really used it since I got it. The only one I really using is the ancient saiyan and that mainly it half of my body. Zaraf thought as he began to meditate the night away.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the top of the Radiate Church, an old man was looking over the files of Zaraf, Lily, and Towa. He recently discovered that they have great talent, strong bodies, and pure souls. In his mind they would make for a worthy sacrifice, but how to get them. They haven’t done anything to be arrested and no why to kidnap them without witness.

“I want them captured as soon as there is a chance,” he said to the empty office however the shadow leaving told otherwise.

“Soon, we will have more angels among us.” The old man muttered.
