The bus moved silently in the darkness.

Beside Lucas lay the control panel for the drone. Zombie hordes and insect swarms appeared on the screen.

The crowd stayed put while Lucas went to check the situation.

The nearest zombie group from that direction was less than two kilometers away from the bus.

The surrounding terrain was relatively flat, with various industrial areas as far as the eye could see.

Without a doubt, due to being an industrial area, there was a relatively concentrated flow of people here before the apocalypse, and the number of workers was not small.

Considering the economic level of the seaside city, there were quite a few workers in this area.

Lucas parked the bus on a street.

Carrying a sniper rifle and a saw made from insect legs on his back, Lucas cleanly took down a few wandering zombies. Then, he rode a motorcycle and found a relatively tall office building in the industrial area to use as an observation point.

This office building had six floors and was about thirty meters high.

Lucas lay on the rooftop, constantly observing the movements in the distance through the sniper scope.

The drones had been retrieved to avoid attracting zombies and insects with their loud noise.

Lucas decided to upgrade the drones when he returned, using the yellow blank blueprint to completely rebuild them. He would at least add a silent function to the drones.

Through the scope, Lucas discovered that these zombies and insects were indeed acting with intent.

Although their movements seemed chaotic, in terms of their respective directions, it appeared that they were trying to surround Henry's group.

Lucas remained calm and composed, although he felt a bit anxious. However, his mind was still clear.

At this moment, zombies were not his primary concern.

It was the insects.

Henry's group had almost no resistance against the insects, but they could still fight against the zombies.

Currently, Lucas had spotted three zombie groups, one of which had approximately fifty insects mixed in.

The three zombie groups were estimated to have around one to two thousand zombies in total.

The number was astonishingly high.

Even if Lucas were surrounded by over a thousand zombies, he would have a hard time surviving. After all, apart from his strength, Lucas had almost no difference from an ordinary person.

His reliance was on the bus, the sniper rifle, the saw made from insect legs, and the pistol with less than twenty bullets.

Facing the approaching zombies and insects, Lucas even thought about immediately converting the remaining insect cores into red capsules.

Fortunately, he restrained himself.

In the current situation, even with another 60 seconds of Flame Fist, he would likely be overwhelmed by the zombie and insect hordes.

Considering the system's character, even if he could obtain a skill now, it would probably only have a duration of 60 seconds, which would be completely insufficient.

At this moment, Lucas couldn't think of any solutions. The only thing he could do was use the sniper rifle to take down a few insects.

But this action carried an enormous risk.

The sniper rifle didn't have a silencer, so as soon as the gun fired, the zombies and insects would discover his location.

The consequences would be unpredictable.

Glancing at the motorcycle below and the bus five hundred meters away, Lucas gritted his teeth and raised the sniper rifle.

Regardless, he had to eliminate those insects.

Currently, he was the only one capable of killing those insects.

Boom—

The muzzle of the sniper rifle burst into flames, illuminating the darkness.

The Red Armored Barrett, with a maximum range of three kilometers, roared as a red insect, 1,800 meters away, exploded from its deformed mouth to its head, instantly turning into a mist of blood.

Boom—

Boom—, Boom—

Three more red insects had their heads blown apart.

Finally.

Several insects and zombies noticed Lucas's location.

The screeching of dozens of insects and the eerie sounds emanating from the throats of hundreds of zombies filled Lucas's ears, even from such a distance. He felt as if he were in hell, waiting for a great terror to descend.

But that's not all.

After the zombies and insects in this group roared, the two other zombie groups on their left and right, one or two kilometers away, were alerted.

The other two zombie groups also started moving rapidly towards the six-story office building where Lucas was located.

However, Lucas remained unfazed.

The industrial area nearby was surrounded by high walls, and according to Lucas's estimation, it would take at least seven to eight minutes for the nearest zombies and insects to reach the industrial area where he was located.

It would take about three minutes to go downstairs and get on the motorcycle.

In other words, Lucas still had at least three to four minutes to deal with the insects.

Quickly setting a location for the bus on his watch, Lucas made the bus automatically drive to the edge of the perimeter wall outside the industrial area.

It would take about a minute to ride the motorcycle to the bus's location.

Boom—

Lucas continued to fire his gun.

In the next three minutes, he would eliminate as many insects as possible.

In Lucas's eyes, there were only insects.

Boom—

With five consecutive shots, Lucas's arm started to numb and tremble slightly.

Aside from his strength, Lucas's physical fitness was quite average.

The weight and recoil of the Red Armored Barrett sniper rifle made it impossible for even a well-trained soldier to continuously shoot.

He managed to kill a total of ten insects.

But there were still at least forty insects left!

Lucas couldn't shoot anymore for the time being, and over three minutes had passed.

It's time to run!

Without hesitation, Lucas got up, grabbed his sniper rifle, and started running downstairs.

Jumping and leaping.

Within two and a half minutes, Lucas was on the motorcycle.

At this point, the screeching of the insects in his ears grew closer, and Lucas could even smell the foul stench of the zombies.

One minute.

It only took a minute for the motorcycle to reach outside the courtyard wall.

Clang—

The back of the bus opened, and Lucas rode his motorcycle onto the bus.

Turning around, he closed the back of the bus and circled to the door, stepping up in one stride.

Clang—

The bus door closed instantly, but a single insect had already jumped onto the roof of the bus.

Lucas sat directly in the driver's seat, started the bus, and slammed the accelerator to the maximum, driving forward.

Lucas hadn't even caught his breath, but he dared not pause for a moment.

A chase had begun.

At this moment, Lucas was not worried about the insects being able to penetrate the bus's shell. The system panel had already appeared in front of him.

On the panel was a map of this area.

Lucas had to plan a route in the shortest possible time.

Currently, Lucas had three options.

The first option was to lure the zombie group and insects towards Henry's direction, allowing the military to help share the pressure from the zombies while he focused on dealing with the insects.

The second option was to directly lead the zombie group and insects in a direction far away from Henry and the others, the farther, the better, putting all the danger on himself.

The third option was a combination of the first two.

Plan a route to lead the zombie group and insects in circles, dealing with the insects first before leading the zombie group towards Henry.

For Lucas, the third option carried risks similar to the second option, but once the insects were eliminated, his risk would be greatly reduced.

According to the third option, the route planning would be more challenging.

The route couldn't be too far from Henry and the others, but it couldn't be too close either.

If it was too far, Lucas might not be able to make it back.

If it was too close, the risk to the crowd would increase.
