Chapter 9

I could feel the stares from multiple females coming from all directions. One set of eyes belonged to my own sister! Even worse was Hu Lao! She wasn’t even the same creature as me! Is she an adult yet? Argh! This is infuriating!

If I have kids, I am going to want to protect them! Watch over them, teach them, and *shivers* fix their mistakes. I want to hurry up and be the strongest I can before I start raising a family!

“Oh. My apologies. I was being selfish and wasn’t paying attention.”

“Eh? Did I just say that out loud, Hu Lao?”

“No. But I can tell from your posture and I feel a sort of link with you. Watching you for so long makes me think I can understand everything there is about you.”

“Well then.”

But can you fly?

“I haven’t tried after this transformation, but I can check right now.”

Wow, she can tell my thoughts. That’s kind of creepy. She spreads her arms out and calls upon the energy of the wind to eventually lift her up. I could have done that. But I guess she has an easier time with it, huh?

She gracefully comes back down to report what she saw.

“There is a body of water up ahead, but I don’t see much else.”

“Thank you.”

She nods before we continue on.

You know, that ability to float using energy reminds me of that special ninja again. Why not use that energy to walk on water? So I tried it, giving me a slight layer of wind beneath my feet. I couldn’t rely on it for too long, so I had to create little steps, but this oversteps walking on water. This is walking on air!

Delighted by my new discovery, I try it out several times before I get the hang of it. And then it dawns on me. Isn’t this going by too fast? This is a cultivation setting, right? The only way the main character (MC) would be able to learn an ability so quickly was if they had some sort of memory transference!

Now, this may sound like I’m tooting my own horn, but I adapted to things sort of quickly in my past life. Probably by too much. It led to me not being worried about the important things. But give me an hour and I would pretty much understand what you mean and want me to do completely. This led to me being decent in a lot of stuff, but overall, I had no motivation. I was lazy and unhealthy.

So why am I so active here? Why am I so dedicated? Is something different about me or is this because of the frog body? Well, give an ape a tool and they will start sticking it in all sorts of places. Not like that, but when you learn something new, you want to put that knowledge to good use, right? Maybe it’s like that. Besides, I have all the novel knowledge from my previous life.

Well, as far as I know, I might be in some weak place. In those kinds of novels, the MC started off in a city on the outskirts of some country that was garbage on the continent that was not on the mainland. Oh, and the planet is some barbaric lands compared to other planets. That kind of nonsense.

So, judging from the village I saw before, the people are relatively low tech. I have no idea about their levels, but Mr. Black tried his hardest to steer me away from the lake.

If this situation is similar to those clichéd novels, then I am merely a drop in a bucket. A grain of sand. Surely I can’t be the only person who reincarnated or figured out the flow of the energy, though.

Lost in thought, I didn’t realize we had already reached the next area. It wasn’t much, just a pond smaller than where I was born. In the center was a massive rock which made the already small pond even more so.

On top of that rock was a monkey eating a strange fruit. But the weird part was that this monkey was wearing clothes! He, for he looked like a male, had large round ears and a flat big nose with flaring nostrils. He was sniffing the strange fruit too much. The monkey was also tossing something with his tail.

But what intrigued me the most was his clothes. They weren’t simple, being bright with flashy colors with decorations. In fact, he looked like some noble. When I tried to talk to him however, he just screeched at me and jumped away into the trees. Whatever it was that he was tossing around fell into the water. I swam in to get it and came back up with a dagger!

It was warm to the touch and was incredibly sharp. Well, sharper than the reeds at least. Although I changed that thanks to the knife. Instead of being used as a weapon, I decided to use it to sharpen sticks and wood into weapons or tools.

I made little spears and even started working on a bow and some arrows for Hu Lao. What? I used to be a Boy Scout, back when my Mom tried to deal with me. I even fashioned a large hook that was more like an anchor compared to my size. I then came up with the idea to reshape the heads of the spears to be similar to fish hooks.

This way we could hunt better. The unique shape of a fishing hook was made so as to not let go of the prey. With this in mind, I made several more weapons before I went to bed. I woke up to find the others already practicing. Thanks to the hot knife, I could shape even rocks into weapons. I created hammers, picks, and axes.

For Hu Lao, I crafted some arrow heads with little spikes. I also created some crude stone weapons like a mace or stone tipped spear. The hook spears looked more like strange lances now, so I guess I will call them hook lance to differentiate.

The pond wasn’t anything special and we decided to keep moving. We soon started going uphill and noticed the river was getting difficult to swim through. We had come across the rapids. The water was churning with a powerful force that brought up that negative feeling again.

Thankfully, Big Brother was there. The Big Siblings, which I feel Mr. Black would call them something like Big Hoppers, had the strength to keep swimming upstream. Sometimes jumping into the sky or letting Hu Lao fly around and check our surroundings, we came upon a waterfall that looked to be a hundred feet tall.

Hehe, every martial art training needed a waterfall! Trying to split one was a man’s romance! I walked towards it and put my hand under it just to try it out. Bad idea. The sheer force almost ripped my hand away! I wasn’t capable to practice safely underneath this waterfall!

But Big Brother wanted to give it a try. I had some kelp jerky ready, but I was shocked when he just hopped right into the brunt of it. Then he hopped right back out with a smug little look on his face. I couldn’t help but smirk a bit. What a buttface. Fine! I can give it another go!

Ack! This hurts! So water can be this strong! Wait…

Then it happened. I blocked all other things out. I didn’t even remember what I was doing just a second ago. At that moment, I was experiencing a change within me. I had reached a startling discovery. Well, not really, it was completely obvious. But water is a destructive force, right?

Whether it be a tsunami, a flood, a high pressured hose, or even drowning, water can kill. Water wasn’t such a peaceful element, and I should have known better. Healing and increasing reaction speed? Bull. Water gives and takes away. It was just like the ebb and flow of the tide. At one moment it can be the calm and beautiful scenery, then the next it would be stormy and chaotic, threatening to smother your very life.

Water wasn’t some little thing to be led around at will, it was a force of nature that could wipe out entire cities. Unbeknownst to me, I had begun my meditation as if I wasn’t being crushed by several gallons of water per second. I had completed one cycle. Two cycles. Three cycles. Yet, every time I completed it, I was filled with an overpowering rush that energized my ripped apart body and got it going again.

My body was constantly being reformed by the wear and tear, increasing my body’s capabilities. My meridians were getting stronger and my energy pool was increasing. Then, after the fifth cycle, I did something truly stupid.

I decided to use that turquoise energy again.
