As I reached the second floor, at first sight, it seemed the same as yesterday, the egg chamber was still full of eggs, until I looked up.
"So these are the future wasps." I mumbled as I checked the ceiling, full of cocoons.
(This looks more like a scene from a sci-fi movie rather than a fantasy one!) And so I thought to myself as I kept walking.
At the end of the room, was Caesar, who seemed to be waiting for something.
"Great DK!" The wasp greeted me. "You brought the missing one!"
As I got closer to get a better view, there was at least 3 more larva strolling on the floor next to him.
"I assume these 4 are the only ones who are not still on a cocoon?" (DK)
"Yes! Soon they will be full-grown wasps!" Caesar told me with pride as he took the larva from my hand. "The queen is still laying the last of today's eggs. If you need to speak with her, may I request that you wait on the Great Hall? She can be quite shy in terms of seeing anyone when she lays them!"
(Actually, I was not interested in that, I just wanted to check how the larvae would turn)
I decided to simply wave with my hand and moved on as Caesar bowed his head to me.
I descended the stairs and sat on my usual place, the center of the Great Hall.
With my hand on my chin, I started to think, while staring at Leonidas who was at the entrance on guard.
He simply stood guard there while I was deeply in my thoughts, out of all wasps he was the most shy of the group, so, despite having company, I also had silence.
Then, he was waving, not to me, but to the outside.
"Either Ragnar is back or we got a visitor." (DK)
It was Ragnar who returned, holding with his spear and 2 groups of captured bunnies, each on one hand.
Both of them seemed happy, they greeted each other and afterwards came to me.
"Great DK! If that's alright with you, the bunnies of my last hunt shall be used for supper!" Ragnar proudly said as I nodded in agreement.
(Just how many did he captured today?) I wondered, he was holding at least a dozen of them.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"How many did you hunt today?" (DK)
"Not sure, I did had to make alot of trips back and forth today. With the 20 wasps coming tomorrow, did not want to risk it so I think we pretty much have enough food for 2 days!" (Ragnar)
"Please sit down, the Cleopatra is not here, leave the food in my front like yesterday." I politely requested the wasps.
The two of them agreed with a nod and sat down.
(Now that I notice, how come the bunnies don't seem to have any cuts or wounds?)
"Could you explain me how you hunt?" I inquired Ragnar of his hunting method.
"Of course!" He promptly answered, but he afterwards kept silent for a minute, taking a deep breath to think until he finally answered.
"There is not much to it. I simply fly high, keep an eye open for bunnies, when one is seen, I simply rush in from above and hit his neck with the back of my spear!"
"The back? Not the front?" (DK)
"No, the front could damage the spear blade, and it would make a mess!" (Ragnar)
"A perfect answer, the fact that you try to conserve your weapon for real battle brings me joy!" I complemented him at the same time as I rose up my arms.
At the moment Ragnar was about to comment, but instead he and Leonidas rose up, it was her, the queen, who had descended from the second floor and greeted me "Great DK!" as she quickly sat on my legs.
(I can't tell what's more weird, the fact that the queen gains super speed when she wants to sit on my legs or how fast those 2 rose up the moment she appeared!)
"Hello Cleopatra!" (DK) "Are you done with your daily duties? You two, sit down!" I commanded Leonidas and Ragnar.
As they sat down, I wondered where was Caesar.
"Yes! Finally! The last egg is in place and last larva turned into a cocoon!" She told me with a giggle.
"Good, what about Caesar?" (DK)
"Great DK! Did you call me?" Caesar shouted as he appeared from the stairs.
"Yes, join us. We are about to eat." (DK)
Caesar rushed in to his spot as he screamed with joy. "Bunny meat!"
"You may all start to eat now, but afterwards, I have a few things to say." (DK)
And so, another feast began, but this time with more bunnies than before.
