Blue Night

“Hmm?”

“How bright... blue?”

“What's that bluish glow? Is it the cell phone?”

Leonard Wood slowly opens his eyes, his vision obscured by the strong blue glow... how annoying!

As he opens his eyes, he finally gets an idea of where he is at the moment. He is sitting on a simple wooden chair placed in front of a table. This place is a simple room with a bed and a bed sheet that is very disheveled, with one part falling to the floor while the other remains on the bed. A wooden wardrobe with simple carved details on the edges, some unlit candles on the table in front of it and a door in the corner of the room. And most striking of all, the window in front of him, where the bright blue moonlight and its faint beams of light hit his face and the room.

Leonard takes a few seconds before standing up abruptly, he looks around again, surprised.

-Where am I? What is this place? Why is the moon blue?!” He soon becomes even more nervous as he walks around the room in circles, trying to sort out the thoughts that are drifting through his mind.

When he has calmed down completely, Leonard looks around again, seeing this relatively ordinary room, where the smoke from the candles still flows, but very little smoke remains, as the night wind carries it out of the room.

-What is this place? Why am I not in my room in Toronto? I was so happy! I had just gotten a game that I was really excited to play, man!” He quickly regrets not being able to play this game that he was really excited to try out.

Before he could think of anything else, he decided to do something to confirm that this wasn't a dream. He rummages around the room a bit and when he opens the drawers of the desk he was sitting at when he woke up, he finds a silver fountain pen.

Picking up the fountain pen, he takes a deep breath and then slams the tip of it hard into the palm of his hand.

-What a pain! - He quickly pulls out the fountain pen and his hand has a hole in the palm, oozing a little blood, a few drops of which drip onto the table.

He holds himself back from screaming in pain, and manages to calm his breathing as he says: “It's not a dream... if it was, I'd have woken up by now... so I... transmigrated...” As he thinks about it, he strangely feels excited, he's feeling like the protagonists of the series and novels he used to read!

He places the fountain pen on the table and tries to find some paper to wipe his hand, which is bleeding from the puncture he made himself.

He rummages through the drawers and finds a letter envelope, marked “From: Durf Watson. to: Lucian Berfort.

He picks up the envelope with his right hand, which wasn't bleeding, and takes the letter out. He puts it on the table and with the envelope addressed to Lucian Befort and presses it on his wound.

He presses down on his bruise and calmly presses his bruised right hand on the table along with the paper, to keep it pressed down while he reads the letter inside the envelope.

He picks up the letter and reads it... it's quite short, but the message is strange...

“Lucian Berfort, are you all right? Annie and I are worried... after we all saw that strange thing we ended up feeling sick... and since that day we haven't seen Josh, have you seen him anywhere? I feel like that object is bringing harm to us... well, I hope you're okay, Annie and I are trying to find Josh, but nothing for now, let's keep going! Well, then come to my house and we'll talk and have tea. We've only known each other a short time, but you seem nice, we've only met at Annie's, so next time we'll meet at my place, it's at 7 Nurston Street. From: Durf Watson”

“Durf Watson... am I Lucian Berfort? I've found my name! What a beauty.” He calmly folds the letter and puts it back in the drawer, then sits back in the chair and continues to press his bruised hand on the table with the slightly bloodied envelope.

“Right... I'm Lucian Berfort, and apparently I had a group of friends called Durf, Annie and Josh... and they found or had a strange item that after the group saw it they started to get sick and this Josh guy suddenly disappeared and didn't respond to them anymore... I wonder what that item was?  When is this letter from?” He turns the letter over, sticking it on the back, and luckily he finds a date.

“March 9th, Blue Moon Month” Leonard is soon confused, ‘Blue Moon Month’? What's that?

He looks out the window again and sees the blue moonlight, and connects the dots “It's the moon... but why  talk about it here...” He gets even more excited to find out more about the world he's in.

Leonard looks around the room and then decides to investigate the room further, as he needs more information about Lucian Berfort.

He opens the wardrobe and notices that it is very tidy, but there are few clothes in it. They are more formal clothes, there are white dress shirts, a vest, a tie and bow tie, a brown tuxedo, a simple blue jacket, pants and a pair of shoes.

He looks at the wardrobe doors and notices a mirror placed on the back of the door to the left, and he sees himself in the mirror.

He sees a not-so-young man, probably already an adult. He has slightly messy burgundy hair, hair that runs down to the nape of his neck and is straight. Eyes as brown as wood and white skin. He wears a white dress shirt and black pants, he walks barefoot, he has his shirt tucked into his black pants.

He looks at himself for a while before chuckling softly and frowning slightly.

“Well... a very different appearance from the one I had on earth... well, I'm not really Leonard Wood anymore... now I'm... Lucian Berfort...”

Lucian looks at the other door to see if there's anything behind it like the one on the left, and there's a calendar.

He looks at it and today is Monday, March 15, 1350, Blue Moon Month. He looks at where it says Blue Moon Month, and decides to flip through the pages of the calendar, and when he's only gone through one page, or one month, arriving at the page for April, he sees that it has changed to “Red Moon Month”.

He flips to the other pages and discovers that every 3 months, there are different lunar months in which the moon changes color. Currently the moon is blue, next month it will change to red, then after the next 3 months are over, which are April, May and June, the Red Lunar Month will be over and it will be the Green Lunar Month. After another 3 months, June, August and September, at the beginning of October it will become the White Moon, and after the end of the year the lunar months will repeat again, starting with the Blue.

Lucian looks at the blue moonlight he saw when he woke up in this world and admires it for a few seconds, then decides to return to his investigation.

He walks across the room and arrives in front of the bed, and runs his hand over it, finding a long blue coat, which runs down to his knee, it has two pockets on either side.

He rummages through the pockets and finds a watch hanging from a silver chain, the watch is simple, it's marking the time, it's 2:30 in the morning. He goes through the other pockets and finds nothing. He opens the drawers of the desk and only finds some blank papers and some with some writing on them, he discovers that Lucian is someone who is studying chemistry at university... Lucian suddenly feels memories coming into his head, remembering various things from his classes... he's very hard-working when it comes to his studies.

Lucian also finds some other letters, which he discovers are from Lucian's mother and father. The letters are few, but they give him a lot of information.

“Lucian, how is university going? Your father is very busy with everything around here... it's sad to be away from my family, I miss when I used to get together with you, your mother, Mary and Evelyn... Dad loves you.” A memory comes to Lucian's mind, he has two sisters who live with him in an apartment, the eldest being Mary and the youngest Evelyn, the three of them live in this cramped apartment, Mary and Lucian keeping house, getting a simple job, where Lucian works in a place that makes pipes and Mary works in a restaurant.

Evelyn can't work yet, she's too young, being 15, and the two of them pay for Evelyn's schooling, managing to give her an education.

His father had left his town to go to the war that is taking place between two continents, the one where Lucian and his family were born and raised, Murren, against the Lukron Continent, their father died in a surprise attack by Lukron...

Their mother unfortunately couldn't bear the loss of her husband, and ended up distancing herself from her children, and shortly afterwards it was discovered that she had committed suicide by jumping off a bridge... The Berfort family is in a difficult situation... it's only been a year since those events...

Lucian regrets what happened to the old Lucian, and he looks at some more letters, and he receives some more slight insights.

This world has continents, 6 continents in total: Murren, FurtFord, Chrollo, Wiston, Lukron and Frostru. Murren, which is where Lucian lives, is the smallest of them and the most peaceful, but it's currently at war because of a problem between the Emperor of Murren and the Emperor of Lukron. It started a year and a few months ago, and it's still going on...

There are also gods that people praise and pray to every day, called the Original Gods: Madame of the Moonlight, Lady of Life, Lord of Eternal Knowledge, Bearer of Wuthering Waves, Host of Combat and

Great Sun. All of them have churches around the continents, where depending on the continent there can be more concentration or not, in the case of Murren, there is a huge concentration of the Church of the Lady of the Moonlight and the Wuthering Bearer, Lucian and his family follow the Wuthering Bearer's church, his father and mother followed the Wuthering Bearer, and so without any other option, the 3 brothers also followed this God. Lucian doesn't see much of a problem, he doesn't mind following any religion, but since he has followed the Wuthering Gate since he was a child, he won't change his religion, even if the people who made them follow the Wuthering Gate have already died.

After a while, Lucian feels tired, his eyes are almost closed... his eyelids are heavy, he gets up from his chair and puts away the letters he had just finished reading. He lay down on the bed and let himself relax as thoughts flew through his head.

“I got some information about Lucian... that's good, I need to learn to live with my new life now, but there are a lot of things out of whack... That letter from Durf Watson... he and I and other people saw a strange object, and not so long ago... it's been six days since he sent me that letter... they also mentioned a man called Josh, who was with us the day we saw the strange object Durf said in the letter, and that everyone was ill and Josh wasn't talking to them anymore, Durf and Annie tried to keep in touch with him... did they succeed? I think I'm going to visit Durf's house tomorrow, he left the address... 7 Nurston Street... I'll go tomorrow afternoon. I need to find out more about this world and Lucian's life...” He finally gave in to sleep and fell asleep in his bed.

As he slept, from his back near his left shoulder, a purple glow expanded, passing through the cotton threads of his white dress shirt.

The glow began to take on a shape... a symbol of an eye appeared beneath the shirt and marked Lucian's back.

The iris of the strange eye flickers and moves sideways slowly, and then begins to move frantically, until it once again centers in the middle and the purple glow disappears, leaving only a tattoo-like mark on his back... an eye...

The blue moonlight continues to pass through Lucian's dark room, and he has a comfortable night's sleep... tomorrow he will meet at Durf's house and have a chat with him about the strange object he had found with him, Annie and Josh, he needs more information, who is Lucian? What was this object? Why was it with Durf? he needs to find out...
