Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Divine picked up the work he had started on the cave wall again.

After he had learned the shadow claws he had started training this technique by carving into the wall.

He was surprisingly good. His goblin claws coated with dark qi made a very handy tool.

And to get two goblins with one sword swing he had chosen to carve simple pictures with the English word next to it.

Divine had carved a goblin, a human, an elf, a sword, a pot, a pit, a well and many more things.

With repitition it had developed into a therapeutic and relaxing hobby for him.

Divine hoped it would help the goblings and maybe future generations learn reading and writing English.

The goblings were already well on their way to speak simple sentences in English. Goblings grew up really fast.

At the moment the fat gobling was eating something he found who knew where. That gobling was a complete glutton. His first word had been the English word "food".

The two gobling girls were fighting again and the tall gobling was spectating.

Only the tall gobling came over to watch when he saw Divine carving.

The tall gobling watched Divine working on the drawing of a rope but soon grew bored and he started throwing little stones at the wall.

It didn't take long until one of them hit Divine.

The gobling knew right away that he had made a mistake.

The gobling was fast but it was impossible to escape from Divine.

The piece of the spirit hemp rope that Divine always wore like a belt snaked forward quickly and tied the gobling up tight.

'Annoying little shit doesn't know how to behave. Exactly like the others. It's enough. It's time for me to teach them earnestly. Especially about respect and boundaries. I don't want them dancing on my nose.'

"Ahh sorry sorry. Please Divine I not want." The tall gobling pleaded with watering eyes.

He looked really pitiful.

Now Divine grew even more annoyed.

"Please Divine, I did not mean to throw a stone at you. Please forgive me." Divine corrected the gobling's developing English.

Divine looked at the gobling for a while silently, letting him stew in the anticipation of a harsh punishment.

When Divine decided it was enough he called the others. "Goblings, come here!"

The other three goblings hurried over.

At least they knew to come running on command.

The three goblings shot their tied up brother mocking looks.

They always enjoyed it when someone other than themselves was in trouble.

"What's up?" One of the girls was always fastest when it came to asking questions. She was the smartest.

"What up?" "What up?" The other two just parroted after her and that even wrongly.

"You are growing up. Soon you will be young goblins and not goblings anymore. Since you can understand basic English now, it's time for me to teach you more." Divine didn't even expect them to understand or retain much of his words and the following lesson, but he would repeat it and drill it into their heads until it took.

"From now on you are my first disciple. And you will be known as First Disciple until I bestow a proper Daoist Name to you. You will all have to earn the privilege before I bestow a Daoist Name upon you." Divine pointed at the smart girl and gave her a long look and then at the others.

"You are my second disciple." Divine indicated the tall one.

"You are the third disciple." Divine looked at the other girl.

"And last but not least you will be known as the fourth disciple." Divine chose the fat one as the fourth because the fatty could take the most. The fatty was the most resilient of the four.

"From now on you will all call me Master Divine or just Master. Since I am your teacher I expect respect and obedience from you or you are going to be punished. To express this respect and obedience you will deeply bow like this when you come before me." Divine bowed his head and torso deeply in the direction of the wall with the legs staying straight.

"If you meet others you bow only a little out of courtesy, nothing more than a deep nod. The more respect you owe to the other the deeper you bow. First disciple can nod her head to her junior sister and her junior brothers in the future. Second Disciple, Third Disciple and Fourth Disciple are going to bow a little in return."

"The only one you are ever allowed to kneel to is me. While we are at the subject, when I'm teaching you, you have to kneel on the ground or on a pelt and sit on your heels." Divine demonstrated it first and freed his tall second disciple from the spirit hemp rope.

When the goblings didn't comply and knelt down like Divine showed them, he unleashed his qi cultivation.

A terrifying aura of qi pressed the goblings down. They fell on their knees.

"Yes like that. Now, straighten your back more." Divine waited for them to kneel in the right pose before adjusting himself to sit more comfortably.

"Now I'm going to give you a little overview of what else I am going to teach you. First and most importantly I am going to teach you how to cultivate qi and how to cultivate your body. It will give you the chance to gain supergoblin strength and surpass all others. Like me." Divine was bringing the English language to this world however he liked.

"Of course I will continue to teach you the English language and I will add some general knowledge. I am going to teach you more manners. How to behave. How to treat different beings and situations."

Divine had thought long and hard about the environment he wanted to develop before deciding to teach them like that.

Since Divine lived in a magical world now and had the Divine Demon System he needed an appropriate ambition for the future next to surviving and cultivating immortality.

Goblin king, dark lord or overlord all sounded acceptable, but weren't exactly what he wanted.

He didn't want to spend his whole time conquering and ruling.

Sect Master was more up his alley. A Sect Master only had to be the strongest, make the rules and distribute the work.

Only waiting to reap the benefits while he had a lot of time to cultivate.

The plan was to teach his four disciples and then let each of them take in some disciples in the future.

Divine had to form the goblings well and the rest would develop with time.

He even had a name for his sect already. The Divine Demon Sect.

But he wouldn't tell the goblings about his plan to create a sect until they were ready to take on disciples of their own. Getting to that point came first.

----------

"Minion!" That was Gobly's cue.

Gobly came forward, bowed and took the pot that Master Divine called "spirit pot" from the fire.

Everything that was made in this spirit pot tasted amazing.

She easily carried the pot to one of the latrine pits and poured out the mushroom water.

Only last winter she would never have managed to carry such a heavy pot, but since she started eating so well she got much stronger.

She drew new water at the well with the other pot and filled the spirit pot again.

When Gobly arrived with the spirit pot, the mushrooms had been thoroughly grilled and Master Divine threw them together with some horned rabbit meat and some herbs into the spirit pot.

The smell was tempting but everyone controlled themselves and waited patiently for Master Divine to finish cooking.

When Master Divine declared it ready Gobly handed out the bowls made of bone. The bone of a skull worked best for a bowl.

Of course the excited goblings came first. Every meal the goblings followed the same procedure these suns.

The one they now called First Disciple took a bowl, bowed to Master Divine and received her food.

Second Disciple, Third Disciple and Fourth Disciple followed. Always in that order.

The five other minions had learned to come forward one after another too.

Gobly liked that even when they displeased Master Divine and received punishment, Master Divine never starved them.

Gobly stepped forward last, bowed the deepest and handed over the nicest and cleanest bowl to Master Divine before she held out another for herself.

She received a great share with much meat and mushrooms. Almost as good as the goblings' shares.

Gobly gathered her small courage and tried something.

"Thank you, M-master Divine." Gobly looked at her feet nervously.

It was her first time daring to use Master Divine's magical tongue in his presence. She had learned some words from the lessons Master Divine especially taught the goblings.

And she even dared to call him Master Divine like the goblings did now.

Before she had only called him that in her mind.

'Would Master be angry? I hope he is happy and sees how good Gobly is.'

Not long ago Master Divine had taught the goblings that if you receive something you say "thank you" to show your appreciation.

Gobly looked up to peak at Divine's reaction.

Master Divine looked surprised for a second. Then he smiled, nodded his head and put extra meat into her bowl.

"Good work. Keep learning." Master Divine spoke to her in his magical and well sounding tongue.

Gobly didn't understand what he said but remembered the words to find out their meaning in the future. But it definitely sounded like a praise.

Happiness bloomed inside her. She did it. A wide smile skewed the burn scars on her face.

Giddy and a little bashful she ran to the side, sat down and started eating.

The meal was especially delicious and between bites she stole sneaky glances at Master Divine eating not far away.

Other times she looked dreamily into the fire.

Fourth Disciple got himself seconds first. The other goblings except for Third Disciple followed not soon after. None of the minions dared to try asking for a second bowl this time.

Master Divine controlled who got seconds but the goblings were rarely restricted when it came to the food.

They really had it best.

After the meal Master Divine sat down in his special pose and closed his eyes.

He did that very often. One time a former minion had thought he could use that time to ambush Master Divine.

That had been his last mistake and the other minions had learnt another bloody lesson.

Master Divine tiumphed over hordes of goblins and even ambushes were nothing before him.

At the end if you went against Master Divine you lost your head.
